Yeah I find it highly unlikely this sort of thing would be a software glitch. Someone made either a mistake or deliberately told their 3D modeling artists to make the players look stupid (same thing happened in 2006).

The only possible way it’s related to a bug is if there is a collision problem and they had to adjust the models for it, or they actually have an algorithm that designs the models for them (but even that’s less of a bug and more of a failure of algorithm design).

The player is raising his arms, which pushes the pads up. I expect the players models will be, while perhaps no better than in 18, very probably no worse, either.

Now I'm not sure what to believe.

I'm hearing a GCer said it was a bug, so, hopefully someone can confirm if this will be fixed on release.

Agree. I really like the way the new sleeves and shoulder pads look. The sleeves look damn good. But the pads are just to big. But the shape of the pads looks good. The players are to bulky in their mid sections.

Pretty much. A bug would be a error in the code and how the game plays. This is not a bug. Its simply modeling, a cosmetic that wont effect gameplay but still looks dumb as hell.

I feel like it was also in 18, players over a certain height, say 6'-3" and up, had weird upper torsos. the shoulder pads in that pick could be a bug but dude's chest to waist ratio is off. wait... did i really just comment on a man's figure? smh #thanksMadden

Several of the developers at E3 said there is a "bug" with shoulder pads that is making there size huge and will be fixed by launch. Multiple people with early access stated this also. Below is the thread about it. Hopefully in the game play footage that comes out next week we see this corrected.

Madden 12. I was having such a great time with that game, too. Then here comes Andrew Luck into the league with airplane wings jetting off his shoulders. Never got fixed.

This is incorrect. A bug can refer to a visual defect which doesn't affect gameplay as well. For example:

People are too up in arms about this at the moment. This could easily just be an error with the size of the meshes used for some universal part on the players(IE, shoulder pads). In the words of Rodgers.. Relax.

That first picture you posted is disturbing to say the least. I’ve never seen that happen in my time with Madden 18 and I have over 150 H2H matches and 100 Online CFM games under my belt.

The more I think about it, the odd player models from EA play is likely just the result of a bug like they said - along with general unfinished player builds. EA has done pretty great job with the actual models themselves in the past few iterations, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt in this area.

I stand corrected but those look like glitches imo which means something happened during gameplay to cause that. In these videos its clear that every single one of the players has been affected to the point it looks intentional. Seems like an oversight.

Maybe, but heres a pic from 18 that I photoshopped with the real Ameer Abdullah vs. the Madden one. The shrunken head issue made it into 18, that issue isn’t new. This was the "final build" btw.

There were helmet and shoulder pad issues in M18 which I noticed a lot. I would also avoid legend players in MUT because there was an increased chance of receiving a player with an extra small helmet, larger shoulder pads, or both.

Having player models out of proportion hurts immersion. Looks bad on television, YouTube and Twitch. In an e-sport game, visuals matter a lot.

In regards to MUT, a purchased player card should be of value. Poor visuals reduce the value of a player card; especially one that looks like Beetlejuice with a shrunk head.

Yes but 3D model body proportion? Seems far fetched. It is duplicated on most of the models, which suggests to me this is a human error, not a random glitch. It’s too predictable. If it has anything to do with with “bugs” it’s an algorithm or parameter mistake, most likely. Made by a person.

                                Because it’s not random.
