Well, if you have a speed of 85 and an acceleration of 75 and I have a speed of 75 and an acceleration of 85, yes.

That's why I asked the question.

I see you're not capable of reading, but maybe you're not completely blind and can provide something showing that this happens, because I sure haven't seen it either.

Acceleration is how fast you get to top speed. If I already have 2 steps on you it would be impossible for you to catch up. Common sense.

Possession catches are bugged, anyway. If there's a defender right next to the receiver they will hold the ball out so the DB and bat it away.

Or an automatic INT. Its a shame but they wont let you possession catch next to DBs for some reason. Very annoying

Do you guys switch to the receiver and then press the catch you want?
Or do you just press the catch button without "switching" first?

On xbox1 the B button switches you to control the closest player to the ball.
Do I need to hit B (switch) and then press the button for the catch I want?

Yes thats how it should work, you'll know its working when you see the icon appear above you receivers head. That said, sometimes there's a delay for some unknown reason.

I see the icon on top of my head even if I DON'T switch first.

When I throw the ball my intended receiver's feet turn green. If I then hit the switch button my feet turn multi-colored. Either way, however, the icon will still display.

When I see the icon above the head before you click on I interpret it as thats the catch they recommend you do or the catch the CPU will try to go for.

I really, really hope that the scenario Clint is talking about only applies to competitive and arcade mode. If I'm playing in simulation mode and a critical third down pass is thrown to Jones with some traffic around him I shouldn't have to user possession catch with him. Shouldn't his awareness and traits dictate that?

I've done that and I started to USER catch with some success, but I agree with Deuce. I think there is a bug somewhere because sometimes even when I try to USER catch the receiver doesn't jump or even make an attempt. They just continue to run the route. I've tried high pointing the ball and even RAC, but there are still times when they won't make an effort.

I think there was an interview or twitch stream or YouTube (sorry, I can’t remember which, lol) where I believe Clint was talking about RAC catches on deep lobs and that they made a design choice there NOT to allow a wr to do this. And, he specifically said your wr will NOT go for a deep lob if u press RAC catch. I can’t remember if the rationale was simply for more of a h2h game where they absolutely want to penalize u for going for a RAC catch when a defender is prowling or something. But, ultimately, he said u must try to aggressive catch deep balls with a defender nearby.

You do not need to click on to the receiver to activate a particular type of catch. Pass leading hasn't been good enough to make taking control of a receiver and manually altering their route a good option for several years now.

I have found pushing the button later in the play like when the ball is closer to the intended receiver has helped with 50/50 balls. Purely anecdotal but that’s been my experience.

This is how catching was tuned back in the day in Madden when you always had to User catch. It's how it should be, IMO.

User catching is the only way I have ever played Madden, more fun that way.

true. wish there was just a setting to make catching the ball 100% manual.
