    Played 3 games. Quick thoughts.

    Positives

New rating - Change of direction
abilities seem less overpowered as a whole. Escape artist is less deadly as is juke box. The new abilities shown seem well done
gameplay as a whole feels and looks smoother
    Pursuit angles are much better
    tackling is improved
The new reach to the marker animations are not a constant which is actually nice for a new madden feature to not be OP.

    Negatives

    Few new animations
Playbooks are mostly the same from what I remember on offense. Defense seems to have more variety
Hit stick tackles look goofy like the players have zero weight

    NBA Philadelphia 76ers

    MLB Philladelphia Phillies

I wouldn't be surprised if we are using the final Madden 20 live playbooks since there's a whole blog coming up about them. The new defensive formations you see are probably from the Madden 20 live playbooks. The new formations in those playbooks you couldn't set formation subs for in franchise mode and also couldn't add to custom playbooks.

More telling, the Cowboys offensive playbook is labeled as Mike McCarthy's, but looks exactly like Jason Garrett's book which I've been using for the past decade. Gotta assume that will change as well lol.

It's obvious we aren't using final player ratings as right now they have Gronk at OVR 53 lol.

I'll take a code on XBOX One or PC for the curiosity of it

Played like 3 or 4 games over my brothers house last night. Quick impressions:

Tackling feels better but still isn’t where it should be, they need to figure out to how incorporate physics based animations.

All Pro seemed real easy and All Madden seemed hard but less cheesy.

Gameplay overall seems slower, could just be that I haven’t played madden 20 for a while.

Force defenders definitely do a better job, but pursuit angles are still bad, guys taking angles to get behind runner instead of cutting him off

Speed doesn’t seem to matter on the default speed threshold. Fast guys behind caught from behind by linemen/LBs.

CPU defenders still have poor AI. Not enough urgency in pass coverage. I had a few situations where defenders wouldn’t start tackle animations and just let ball carriers run right by them.

Running qbs seem like a threat again. Couldn’t stop Lamar, even with spies and an contain, though some of the reason was my cpu defenders wouldn’t go for tackles and just let him run right by.

Overall I would have been happy is this was Madden 20 looked at the end of the year, but it doesn’t feel like enough improvement for a game released a year later.

Yeah I'm not seeing the pursuit angles hold up when it comes to scrambling QBs. I've seen CPU Mahomes, however, make some truly incredible plays where he rolls out, draws the DBs towards him, and makes a Mahomes-esque pass on the run, and that's really fun to see.

And is anyone else experiencing lag/delays during offline/local play games, especially during field goals?

Yes it’s like 1 out of every 3 kicks were lagging when we played

Played one game so far vs the Ravens. All-Pro

It was good seeing Lamar move at first, but then it was basically most of the 4th quarter he would scramble and take off

I saw one stretch for the first down by Lamar jackson and he got it. It wactually looked organic

Not sure the adaptive AI is in the beta or how it will work but I ran the same play the entire 3rd quarter and a different same play the entire 4th quarter and didnt seem any real adjustment

Had an offensive lineman injury which was nice to see. I played a season a week or so ago with 2 teams and never had one.

I know its not a final build but I am a huge presentation guy. The wipes are horrendous. The "move the chain" and "defense" are just horrible. I dont think we would ever see anything like that during a real broadcast. Even the EA and 2 minute warning are bad. The EA one makes me laugh because its just the word Sports at first. Also, the one pregame montage had Matt Ryan on an olineman back almost like he is getting a piggy back ride is just weird.

So what's the purpose of not allowing gamers to stream footage of the Beta?

I wish that there was a practice mode in the Beta. It's a much better testing environment than games for actually finding gameplay flaws.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
