I'm interested, too because I have a nine-year-old son that just might enjoy this. He already likes to watch football and play Madden with me occasionally, but this is totally in his wheelhouse. Here's the tweet from CBS that shows what it will probably be like:

Wait Nickelodean is airing a Wild Card game this weekend? That has to be one of the weirdest things I've heard. Where is the crossover with that audience? I can't imagine a kid turning on Nickelodeon and being like "oh cool football instead of cartoons?! Yay!"

I remember as a kid growing up in the 90s watching Saturday cartoons on Fox and being disappointed once the football show started because that meant cartoons were over for the day.

Younger people aren't anywhere near as interested in pro sports as they were a generation or two ago. If the NFL, and all the pro sports leagues for that matter, don't aggressively attempt to court younger viewers then they aren't going to be around too much longer.

We're probably all going to live to see the death of MLB. The average TV viewer is old enough to be collecting Social Security.

I'd be surprised if the NFL cared or knew anything about Madden besides the bottom line. The NFL doesn't know anything about videogames. The game sells and makes money. They know the Madden brand is extremely popular and well known. And from their optics I'm sure Madden looks like a fine representation of the NFL.

If you're the NFL why care about anything else?

Yeah, it's called jumping the shark. NFL is getting really desperate. Kids that tune into Nickolodeon don't want to watch football. Are you kidding me? You're right, when football came off after cartoons on Sunday mornings, it was time for me to go play outside.

I'm not allowed to say it's ridiculous for Sponge freaking Bob to be in the only licensed, simulation football game on the hardcore sports website known as operation sports?...... What in the world. I come here because it's not filled with junk posts like reddit but apparently this isn't the place for real madden talk anymore. I literally can't believe this. What a joke.

Unreal... The way this game has been handled... from Kaepernick to Giannis to this... They will do anything they can to reach the casual crowd and they don't care at all about fixing the massive bugs in the game or improving it. Marketing rules the day at EA.


This whole cycle with M21 screams "we're terrified of the 2K non-sim game so we're going to take our 'sim' game and make it a kiddy mess that appeals to non-football people." What a joke.

I go away for a while, still playing, I come back and it's still the same folks whining and complaining. never seen anything like it. The trolling on the EA facebook app is bad enough.

Thank you! He does this over and over again. Usually when a patch is released. I will never understand the folks who purchase a game every year that they obviously hate.

Just because you guys don't know how to respect people with views that don't align with yours doesn't mean i don't. I clearly do. I've said it repeatedly. I've shown it for the past 6 years that I've been on this site. I don't appreciate being ganged up on just because i don't share the same viewpoint that you guys have. It's a bit of a joke. OS used to be better than to allow this type of mess and for the mods to be the ones doing it is just ridiculous to be honest.
