There were 3,414 penalties assessed league-wide in 2019, just 85 off the record set in 2015. But in 2020 there were 584 fewer penalties assessed than in 2019. It was the fewest penalties in the NFL since 2008.

There were an average of 13.4 penalties per game for 114.5 yards in 2019.

The penalties dropped to 11.2 per game for 97.4 yards in 2020. The total penalty yardage assessed league-wide during the 2020 was the fewest since 2009.

Started my franchise last night and ran Cover 3 a few times. Was disappointed to see on a comeback route my CB stopped playing the route, turned his hips and ran downfield 30 yards from the WR to cover grass. This allowed the CPU an easy big gain.

I'm still seeing too often with all coverages where defenders will initially stick with a WR and then run off to cover grass. It happens a lot on the curls/hooks in the middle of the field. The LBs will initially stick with the TE or slot WR and then just sidestep off into the abyss and allow an easy completion.

I keep hearing about the Xbox Series X completely shutting down on people. There's a thread on the NBA 2K forum with the same issue. Is this more of a Microsoft problem? I've never had any shutting off issues with my PS5.

I'm just so exasperated at this point.. Super disappointed doesn't even come close to how I feel about this issue. First time I've EVER had this issue with ANY game on ANY console.EVER.

Can't play a game at all. Shuts the brand new series x down after several mins of gameplay in the first quarter.

I have and play all other games with zero issues.. Cold war, valhalla, doom eternal, gears 5, blah blah blah..

It's JUST Madden 22 doing this for me. Grrrrr....

On ps4 they've definitely cleaned up the physics a bunch especially on tackling. Also noticed less falling forward animation resulting from continuous tacklers getting different animations. Coverage is tighter too. Drags are better defended for sure. I'm anxious to dona 32 man solo franchise once the scouting drops and fatigue is fixed.

I don't believe anyone was disputing data & facts, moreso how some people drain the fun out of others. That's all I was trying to say, at least. It's prevalent in every single thread, even the ones created to be positive, and is also why I disappear every year right around this time & don't return until the spring.

Actually, I should take my own advice from earlier and stop expecting this place to change[emoji23]

Sorry to hear that man. Like I said, there's a thread on the NBA 2K forum saying the same issue is happening. That's why I asked if it could be a Microsoft issue since it's apparently happening to multiple games..Either way I hope it gets resolved for you Series X owners.

Someone in this thread mentioned that fatigue should be tied penalties in some way, so the more fatigued a player is the more likely he is to commit penalties, and I think that's the best idea I've heard in a minute. Penalties would land on the shoulders of a coach (user) so they wouldn't be as random, which is why I think sports games in general shy away from making them happen a realistic amount of times.

I've never experienced the system shutdown, or never had any trouble connecting to their servers.

If you literally can't play the game, delete the game then re-download it if you haven't already. Also do a reset on the Xbox itself.

Just a couple suggestions.

As far as penalties go, I see different ranges pretty much every game. I play 10 min with 13 sec, and acc clock. Most of the time anyway. And I usually get anywhere from 3-5. Sometimes more. Had a few games with like 7-9. One game I had 5 holding penalties between the two teams. I seem to get a lot of holding calls. I've also had roughing the passer happen a number of times from both me and the CPU, same with facemask. And I actually get PI calls here and there.

However, I haven't seen a late hit call yet, but I did see an illegal forward pass one time on the CPU because he threw after crossing the line of scrimmage.

Would I like more, of course. I like sim football. But here's the real reason they don't happen more. The average Madden player would get upset with too many penalties called against them. Especially after a big play. And yeah, you can say they should be playing on comp mode, but who knows how penalties are tied to gameplay and if they can even tune them for specific modes.

Hopefully they will address it, but I wouldn't count on it.

I’ve had the same issue only with Madden 21 and 22 since day one with my console in December. I couldn’t get through a game of 22 with they system turning itself off.

Finally, I sent the Xbox in under warranty. I have not experienced a single crash since receiving it back for MS. I would recommend sending it in under warranty.

They can definitely tune the penalties per game mode & up the frequency. Takes about 5 minutes to tweak on PC using mods. Obviously it takes a little bit of testing to level & balance out the penalties, but it's very easy to accomplish. I remember yrs ago they based penalties frequency on 6 minute qtrs which I never agreed with. I mean too many & ppl would complain & to less ppl complain so lol...

It's really about them not tuning the functionality of the penalty sliders. It would be win-win for everyone, unfortunately it's probably in the bottom 5 of things to do on the priority list every year.

Not even on the list because it’s mainly a mechanism used for Franchise as Comp/MUT play settings are locked in.

TBH, Madden doesn’t want the User to have Customization ability, that’s why it’s the only sport that is so limited in this area.

- User defined Camera
- Asset Customization

So initially my ps4 went out, and I was looking to use my warranty to get another 4, thinking they would be more lucrative to get than a 5. Wrong. There just as sold out as the 5. There was no way to replace because of zero availability and no where, and I mean no where to purchase a 5.

So I looked into xbox, and on there site they had the s model available. So I ordered, 2 days later we were gaming, everything seemed all good? Next morning (Friday) hmn trying to load mlb the show and check out stadium creator and the game? Freezes upon loading the tutorial. Hmn ok maybe just a glitch... try again after completely shutting down console boom same thing, freeze again! Ok maybe there working on something ..

Let's load a regular game crash again..what in the world is going on.. ok frustrated lets turn on madden...ultimate team first, not loading, asking me who I am, even though its saying my gamer tag is signed in.

Click the id, sweet its loading...wait what? Back to the main menu... this litterally went on from last Friday until this Thursday, alongside of me calling ea customer support which was an absolute joke and dealing with Microsoft trying several tactics of uninstalling, reinstalling, pulling out the cord of the back of the xbox, this morning I packed that bad boi up, shined that some... up! Turned it side ways and sent it straight up UPS candy... lmao

Trust me I had to make a joke out this, because this week has been exhausting dealing with this. So currently I have no console or pc, set up, everything is in the cloud lol smh

I do know ill just be waiting until a ps5 comes knocking, gotta smile through all this...

I said that to say, dont sweat it, ish happens, yeah it sucks but things get better, hang in there.

This would be brilliant and penalize the player for not doing subs / managing fatigue.

So it won’t happen.
