Wanted to take the time and acknowledge how well they seem to have been put back into the gameplay.
Not sure how many refs are in a real game but you have 2 behind the offense, one behind the defense and one on each side line in madden.
During a replay I noticed a couple of nice little details. The play went for a first down. Both of the side line judges, performed the first down hand and arm gesture. But they were performed differently. One was the traditional over exaggerated hand knife point, and the other was a more subtle quick jab like signal.
The Ref with the white hat that stands behind the offense can be seen tracking a deep pass thrown by the QB. You can visibly see his head looking skyward and then drop his vision as the ball decends.
Female refs are seen in more real games then before. Not an issue but I wonder if we will ever see a female judge.
Areas for improvement to build immersion, when a player gets hurt it would be nice to see him wave their hands to stop the clock and scramble the trainers.
Maybe not showing the entire conversation but show a quick ref huddle to discuss a penalty. Like showing one of the sideline judges tell the ref holding on number 70 offense.
Let's see the refs throw yellow flags onto the field.
Chain gang for short and down determination.
Having to deal with the judge setting the ball at the line of scrimmage before each play. Especially when trying to run a hurry up offense.
Showing more hand and arm signals... ie the player was pushed out of bounds... or the "it was a catch" signal.
