From my understanding it was to deal with the online competitive crowd constantly blitzing CBs and Ss and suffering no ill effects. Again, we the offline play against the CPU crowd has to suffer because of the competitive crowd always looking for exploits.

However, they cannot or at least seem unwilling to address or even acknowledge issues such as the horrible run/pass ratio due to poor playbook and playcalling logic; plus the 3-4 defense glitch.

I don't know how else to describe it, but there is a major issue with the team playbooks in the game, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The CPU... - 8834981

Taking this opportunity to remind the community that we can at least try to bring more attention to this on EA's own forums by getting this topic more points. Right now it has 3 points. I know OS has a lot more than 3 total people on it frequenting the Madden board that have this issue.

We can't sit here and complain about the issues and then not make any effort to make EA aware of the problem. Even if you think they should be aware of it(they should), it takes less than 1 minute to login on your EA account and give the thread a point. If we can actually get it as one of the higher voted topics, then we will at least have done something to make EA aware of the issue as coming to OS and complaining about it clearly has gotten us nowhere.

WOW!! That is truly sad..thanks for the info

As eager as I was in finally starting my franchise (with Rudolph as my QB ) I had been keeping up with the run/pass ratio issue, as well as the 3-4 defense issue, I have since decided to cancel that plan.

I cannot continue to look for or try to find "workarounds" for the issues with this game that seem to be a continuous problem year after year...

There was a Youtube vid I watched earlier, and what stood out to me which I 100% agree with..is Madden is style over substance...as long as it looks good, who cares if the penalties are messed up, run/pass ratio messed up,and the list goes on....

Just did my part, hopefully this gains some traction and something is done about it..up to 4 now..

            Did my part and posted.

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but it's not hurting MUT so it's not a priority. It will be "fixed" next year by being a part of some new feature.

I'd be absolutely shocked, and would buy the first person who called me out a copy of next year's game if they fix it this cycle.

I wouldn't not play because of the 3-4 bug. Using custom playbooks fixes that bug. Just copy whichever team's playbook you want to use and use it as a custom playbook. Problem solved. I'm in season 8 or 9 of my franchise and have used the 3-4 exclusively doing this.

As for the run/pass ratio thing, I don't really have a good answer for you there. But what I do in my franchise, I did a test by simming a couple of seasons and figuring out how many plays per game the sim results deliver. Turns out it's nowhere near what an actual NFL game would be. So if you play with say 15 min quarters with accelerated clock on, you will still get way more plays compared to the other simmed games in your franchise. This will cause you to be 1st in offense and last in defense every season. I found 9 minute quarters with no acc clock was pretty much the sweet spot in order to stay comparable to sim results, but this could vary, depending on your play style. It sucks because your players won't be setting any kind of NFL records probably, but it's the best way to have comparable stats to the rest of the league.

I appreciate the input, but I shouldn't have to use a custom playbook to correct a flaw in the game (workaround)

As far as the run/pass ratio issue, to me that is damn near a game killer, as far as I'm concerned if I'm going to play an NFL "simulation" then 15 min is a must, and that is what I use...to me using anything different completely destroys the whole "simulation" aspect.

This is an issue that EA needs to fix..point blank. I should be able to play the correct quarter length in a football game and not have to resort to lowering that length to compensate for EA's shortcomings in the sim engine.

I 100% agree with ^^^^ You shouldnt have to alter rosters, playbooks, traits, do this to get that, change this to not achieve that, and so forth to get a "SIM" style game.

For this, this is a todays low attention span gamer. They want quick games they can ust breeze though with no effort. The ratio issue is sorta the same. The game is based off of big "WOW" plays.

Again, have to agree with this^^^ the sim should calculate off of the length of play time. 15 min qtrs should reflect real life similar stats. Less time, less stats.

Don't even really have to do that. First defensive play of the game, I just switch all my 3-4 sets to the "CB Swap" package and it fixes it. It's still annoying that it screws up the CPU though.

Let me ask you this tho, I sim a lot, maybe play 2-4 games in a whole season and my team STILL finishes dead last vs the pass. Would those 2-4 games still make that much of a difference?

Does the sim engine sim games based upon your clock settings? I run 15 minute quarters with 11 second run off. I can expect a huge difference if the engine runs off your set clock settings, which my salvage playing this game till college drops.

Another way you can try is to start each of your games, sim the first half play-by-play which only takes 5 minutes or so and then play the 2nd half.I use 10 minute qtrs,no accel.clock and get good results.

The cpu is more run balanced in the 1st half which makes up for the run/pass ratios.I calculated 12 weeks in and the avg. Is 35 passes ro 25 runs per team with 2.5 sacks per team which is pretty damn good.
