In theory, do they even need a patch to fix the AI play calling? Wouldn't they be able to fix it by updating the live playbooks?

Re: New Madden NFL 25 Patch Available - Patch Notes
They do, at least on the defensive side. But this has been a issue for a decade or more. The down and distance isn't coded properly, so you will see things like double mug on first down, I'm a cowboys fan and Zimmer is our coordinator. He employs it and I'll be looking to see if he ever calls it on early downs but I doubt it. It's really a 3rd down and medium to long call, why call it on first down when you're susceptible to Playaction etc.
You have situations where the defense will come out in base against bunch formations, on first down you will see the defense sometimes come out in dime against trips formations, that doesn't really happen unless it's a 2 min warning, a team is down big and you aren't worried about the run. You have cover zero blitzes being called on first down, it is the rarest called blitz even by the most aggressive defensive coordinators, it's primarily a 3rd down call.
That kind of stuff would have to be reworked, if in addition to determining what you come out in based on the offensive personnel, they also added the down and distance, this wouldn't be an issue, and if it were, I could fix it. But the way it's set up now, other than removing dime from trips or starring it low, same with cover zero, not much can be done. I'm surprised it's not mentioned more, I guess people don't notice?

Re: New Madden NFL 25 Patch Available - Patch Notes
I think that's part of the fix. They're probably waiting to deploy some new plays and such. However, the starring system on the backend is still going to need adjustments from them in those playbooks. If they simply add plays to live playbooks and don't address the star issue, we'll be plagued with the same skewed ratios.Comment

I assume their new run/pass ratio update won't happen until their big season update which I assume is in October maybeComment

Re: New Madden NFL 25 Patch Available - Patch Notes
Every year I hope that EA will get it's act together and every year it's the same crap. In order to have any semblance of a franchise that plays true to life, we have to manipulate the playbooks, use two controllers, create a ton of players, leave players off of Practice Squads - by the time the season is a week old, I've usually become so frustrated that I abandon Madden altogether. I'm just glad that I didn't pay for it this year - earned some reward points at work that enabled me to get a $100 gift card for Xbox. But it's infuriating that year after year, franchise mode and the game itself outside of MUT is neglected. They really need to separate the two and have a team dedicated to true simulation football - people who know the ins and outs of the NFL, who actually know the rules, and what real rosters look like, and how to make a product that is a true representation of "if it's in the game, it's in the game."Comment

I think it would be fine because even the coach suggestions change in College Football carried over in dynasties, and I would think it will be a similar process in Madden.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: New Madden NFL 25 Patch Available - Patch Notes
what I'm getting at is if EA did nothing and stated they fixed the AI play calling, I guarantee a large amount of players would "see the improvement" because the idea is in our mind now and we tend to see what we "want" to see.
For example, I am on PC and I was playing in 4k and it was pretty good framerate but I decided to dropdown to 1440P to see if the game was smoother. I played a few games and I thought it was noticeably better experience. Then I went to change it back to 4k and it was already in 4k. I never actually applied the change, yet I swore it was playing smoother. The almighty "power of suggestion"!
Anyway....back to this thread about the actual patch today.Comment

Player Skill Sliders still do not save for Play Now. You have to manually load them from the home screen every time you boot up the game. This was also an issue in past Maddens before they eventually patched it. Surprised they still haven't addressed this.

People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: New Madden NFL 25 Patch Available - Patch Notes
I'm not saying the run to pass ratio is fixed by patch. I use the two controller assign playbooks method.
What I'm referring to is there seem to he less explosive plays. In passing and running. RBs in the 3 games I've watched are closer to 4.0 yards per carry. Two days ago there was explosive run after explosive run.Comment
