    Can it be made automatic in such a way where the defense "leans" run or pass depending on what the offense is doing successfully?

    Say a team is driving down the field on a given drive and cranking out 4, 7, 6, 12 yard runs, the defensive players should start "leaning" to stop the run. In that way, you can hit a nice play action pass when the run game is clicking since the defense is anticipating another run.

      I voted to keep it, but use it pre-play. It does come in handy when you KNOW whether your opponent is gonna pass or run. I also like the risk reward factor, but, as some of the others have posted, it's not realistic to do it after the snap and have the whole team aware of it.

      EDIT: I don't understand why some people are saying remove it. It's not cheese when it's used, unlike lead blocker control, and you don't have to use it, so why have it removed? It's useful for those that like to use it and there is the risk/reward factor involved. So what's the problem?

        I'm not getting the people who say its all based on each individuals ratings. When the MLB calls "RUN" or "PASS", the defense reacts. Things get called out on the field all the time, its not like each guy is in a bubble. And how could you possibly call it pre-play, what happens when the offense audibles?

          Should be pre-play.

          Another thing that I've always wanted to suggest to be able to "focus" on certain defenders like how you can focus on a player when you are playing defense. But this time you are focusing on a defender to block if they are blitzing or something. And how defenders move around pre-snap will hint at whether they are blitzing or not. And if a DT or DE is picked they will automatically be double teamed or chipped by the TE. I've always wanted this since sometimes my guard will get manhandled by some stud DT and I couldn't force a double team. Shifting didn't really help since double teams only happen on run plays in Madden. Hopefully this will be fixed!

                Move it out of gameplay to either playcall screen or pre snap. This would help issues like half your secondary biting on play action during a 3rd and 18. Keeping it in would also help during goalline situations which I feel still lean FAR too heavily to the offense...

                    Move it to preplay and have the ability to run/pass commit specific groups. DL, LB, and DB groups should be able to commit separately, so that if i want to pass commit my DBs but leave the front 7 normal, I can do that. I should also be able to pass commit my DL so that they just pass rush and don't worry about running lanes. When DL is run committed they should be worried about gap control.

                    I've never liked the awkward timing mechanic of the play commit, and the level to which committing should have any effect should be scaled back.

                        I've only recently started using this feature, because of my problems slowing the cpu's passing game.

                        I have to confess I'm not really sure what defensively happens when I chose say..Pass commit? Does it just prevent my AI players from biting on PA?...and thats about it?

                          I always thought of the commit option as something to help artificially benefit the computer since it seems to use it so well - same as the jump snap option.

                            I would rather do it on the fly than to have to hurry and scramble through the menu,I like the risk/reward appeal it brings,It also help contain peeps that like to call playaction when its 3rd/20 or at the end of the half,it also allows the ends to go after the QB instead of being faked out and tackling the RB,if it goes to menus,I'm coo w/ that but the less I have to deal w/ menus the better and it needs to be in the game.Last resort would be to just tie it into playaction passing,if you call run commit on a PA pass,you should be burnt and burnt hard but on the other hand if you call pass commit and your opponent runs,he should be good for 8-10 yards easily,reason why I bring this up b/c I've seen opponents literally come out in quarters,bring every1 up,bring lineman all in and pass commit all game,now this is cheese right there and it pisses me off when I see the RB get 2 yards or dropped for a loss when a team would gouge this defense just by running.It needs to be in the game but needs to be tweaked.

                              I think it should be done during playcall with the ability to adjust it in the preplay. Also, give more options than just run, pass, right and left. Preferably this could include the ability to watch for draws, play actions, screens, and to concentrate on certain players. This gives the coaches and also the team captains on defense the ability to help the players around them. How well players respond could be based off of the coaches ratings and then preplay based off of a leadership rating for the defensive captain making the choice of team captains actually mean something.

                                Another thing that needs some tuning is the risk for pass committing. I went in and did some tests and pass committing on defense against a draw still leads to draws being stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
