i dont understand why people are on the "fix the pocket" stuff so much... out of one video? Also i've seen many pockets just like the video showed in real NFL..they come in all shapes, sizes, forms and speed...what gives? Its human interaction..so its obviously not perfect every rip

Also, shouldnt the speed slider help on the "speed" of things any how? Personally..i dont see no real issues there at all, besides it is "work in progress"

Granted this is just one isolated example, but in the real still shot the pocket is roughly the width of hash marks, maybe a little wider. In Madden, the pocket is almost twice the width of the hash marks and probably contributes to the problem of it taking too long to set up

FYI - crowd noise was 100% broken in the build those guys used to capture this video.

It's crazy, this video is about 2 weeks old and it already looks totally out of date to me because of all the recent changes we've been making to gameplay. It still is a good showcase of many of the things you guys should expect to see.

game still needs some polishing. some animations looked good while others still had that 09 feel. awesome presentation and animations after the plays. wish the sound during tackles was better.

hope the catching animations are mechanically correct......i hope the receiver are looking at the ball when they receive it. i also hope they use momentum better when receiving.


i think the player models have been thinned down..........more realistic.

just need more gameplay vids to see final product

Looks okay; sort of what was expected. Not the revolutionary jump that it's been hyped to be but the next evolutionary step over '09. Granted, a very brief sample of video to judge in any way but:

+ Graphics are great
- The way the graphics animate is still so-so. Lack of on the fly player interaction, players still able to move laterally without much of a need to plant; WRs still all run w/similar (but better) strides; etc.
+ Collinsworth is still good
- Hammonds is still horrible
+ Prefer realtime versus cutscenes, but the presentation is an improvement from '09
+ Thought the player proportions were well done
+ Liked the trip anim at the end of the Cowboy td catch, and the McNabb sack
- QB pocket was very underwhelming. More jostling between the OL/DL instead of more practical movement
- If there were unique QB anims they weren't very pronounced

What's so "convenient" about it? The game is still being tuned, it hasn't gone gold yet....So a lot of things are not 100% yet....Damn you guys are so funny.

Watched a few times. Sorry to say, gameplay and graphics can't really tell the difference from 09. Westbrook was at top speed right after the hand off. Just doesn't seem realistic. The WR cross and the poor angle taken just reminds me of 09. Oh well. I really didn't expect much of a change. Where was this Pro Tac stuff?

Thats casue the game looks dated as hell, and it isnt even out yet. Not a one thing in that video impressed me, not even the presentation. Want to know why? 2k gave it to their customers years ago.

Yeah, same here. It is a trip though to come to this site and read all the Madden fans ( I used to be one of them... years ago) go on and on about how AWESOME and AMAZING the early screens, videos look knowing all along that the game will just be more of the same. Like it has been for YEARS AND YEARS!

I would give anything to be wrong! I would love nothing more than to get this game and be SHOCKED at how awesome the animations were and how incredible the new tackling system is and how realistic the game play is but COME ON PEOPLE!! It happens every single year for God's sake!

EA goes on and on about how many new additions they have added to the game and how amazed we will all be but in the end, it's all hype. No real substance. Just HYPE! Do any of you really believe that Madden 10 is going to be any better than 09? And by better, I mean REALLY better? I think not. I am thinking that after the game is released you will be able to come here and read all the comments on how disappointed most people are. Just like it is here and on all of the Madden forums every single year.

To summarize-Months before the release of the next Madden game EA starts the hype on all of the killer new additions and improvements they have added to the upcoming Madden. The Madden forums go crazy with excitement with all the talk of just how AMAZING this next Madden will be and the fans go on and on about "the little things" (God I hate that term) and the anticipation reaches a fever pitch! (Just like EA planned of course. And who can blame them? It's their job after all)

Then, the game is released and most fans are bummed out and the Madden forums are filled with people complaining about how EA lies to them every year and how this is IT! THEY WON'T EVER BUY MADDEN AGAIN!

Then... it starts all over again.

Oh well. I could be wrong. I am, after all, one of those people. I too will buy it and I too will be mad as hell.

Looked like 09! Hopefully that was "pro" mode because I saw no pocket.

I think it was pro. That's the default difficulty setting, and I can't imagine they'd bump it up for the sake of a preview video, but Ian said this is a two week old build (meaning still Alpha), and I know I was told specifically at CD that this is something that would be addressed during Beta.

Alpha- Implement technology
Beta- Tune technology

Is essentially the explanation I got. I know Lbz is going off his rocker over the pockets because he and I POUNDED that aspect of the game, but I'm not concerned yet because we haven't seen any videos made after the time I was told 2 months ago that it'd be addressed.

In other words, if the pocket looks like that in a month, I'll be worried. Right now, it still looks better than it did at CD.

I'd also like to point out- good pockets don't form every play. If they did, scores would be in the 90s.

PS: For those thinking the speed still feels too fast, you can still tune it down from here.

Come on now! The game is not done. Reserve your judgement till you see the finished product man! This is the only game in town,we have to hope your CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISM is heard and not your whining and bickering. In no way do I love EA, I have bashed the heck out of them too,but I' just saying save your critics for August 14th. And save your hypeness as well,you know EA can get you ready to run through a wall. We still don't know about WR/DB interaction,franchise mode,and a host of other things......calm down fellas!
