Hopefully Ian has also noticed this and will fix it for Madden10. The devs have done such a great job on the presenation, and the cutscenes look great,but the playcall screen is coming up to fast to look at them.

Yea I would love to see this tuned somemore. To see the cut scenes more. Hopefully Ian will fix this problem.

Nah the play call screen pops up regardless if you hit anything or not. If you could watch them without hitting a button it would be fine.

Well, if the game is following "real time", then the play clock starts when the previous play ends, or, at the start of the cutscene. Given that, then it only makes sense to have to playcall screen immediately pop up so we can start selecting our play.

I like it. It streamlines the experience for one, and it also just makes more sense, based on how the clock should technically be working. Besides, if it didn't do this, everyone would eventually be skipping all the scenes... this we, we still have to see them regardless.

Makes me think... Does an NFL head coach get pissed when his play book pops up in front of his face between plays and he has to miss the "cut scenes"?

Exactly!!! I remember this being brought up in another thread. I told the OP the same thing. It's a smart way to 'force' you to see what they did. It's very next-gen. I mean c'mon... after a month or so, you'll start skipping them and whatnot. So relax folks, cutscenes shouldn't be on the top of your list this year.

Apparently, on the top of your list is full screen cutscenes. I hope they add something to accommodate your request sir.

They don't need to really add anything, just delay the menu from poping up so fast, or until you press a button.

Why do you assume EVERYONE plays the same as you, or even the majority do, for that matter??
I still play 2k5, and after 5 years, I still watch the cutscenes....and I don't think I am the only one!

U not my brotha, i love 2k5 and still watch them after 5 years. Never get tired of them. I look forward to maddens as well. They just need to get rid of that playscreen in the middle of it.

Ill sign off on this as well. To this day, i have never skipped any presentation cutscene in NFL 2K5.

It's funny how when I brought this up after CD, people said I was nuts and that everything with playcall was fine. I posted back predicting that these complaints would happen soon (I specifically pointed to the obstructed view as a complaint that was bound to come up), and here we are, lol.

This whole thread speaks to a core component of how they design things; When they create these new things they have GOT to consider that some people will like to see certain things all the time, and some people won't. The On/Off option is the best friend they could possibly have. With on/off (and some sliders for some cases), it's almost a guaranteed win because you're ensuring that your customers will come away happy about the outcome of something, since they have master control.

To me, this is the same deal as the celebration squares uprising that happened last year before 09's release, the Weapons uprising, the Vision Cone uprising, the current dislike of the Big Red Circle right now for Madden '10... it all comes back to people wanting control of their visuals and the ability to turn certain things on/off. They've got to get into a mode where when they add something new, they add this functionality along with it without exceptions.

This isn't going to kill the presentation, it just takes it down a bit when you're wrapped up in a scene and in an instant the playcall screen comes up and blows it.

I'm all for there being more time allotted for the cut scene. If the argument is they need to start the play clock right away, fine, start the play clock, and have it running on the ticker, but don't block half the screen while there is a 'new feature' playing.

In 09 they had an issue with the CPU snapping the ball before the defense could even adjust. That seemed to be a simple enough fix, they added about 5 seconds... seems like the same basic idea needs to happen here. Just add a few more seconds before the menu comes up. For those that don't want to wait, they can click through it. But I want to see it. That's why I pay my money year after year, to see the new features.
