Re: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
Still disappointed that there is no salary cap and player contracts, and I hope it's one of the first things on the table to add to this feature.
That said, there are enough options available in the meantime to create the illusion that a salary cap of sorts is there using house rules, and the waiver wire option also is a nice feature. I'm glad that the Madden team had the foresight to include these options.
If I may ask though, Ian, I had a specific question that did not make the Q&A: my brother and I share one XBOX360 and both have our own gamer tags. In NCAA 09's online dynasty feature, my brother and I were able to play in the same dynasty, schedule games against each other, and play these games using only one XBOX360. Will we have this capability to have two users using the same console in online franchise?
Another question: it wasn't specifically mentioned in the blog, so I'll ask here: can we trade draft picks? If not, can the commissioner reassign draft picks to different teams to "fake" trading draft picks?Last edited by Hooe; 06-09-2009, 05:14 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
I know EA spent a lot of time on the online Franchise and is pround of the hard work they put in to get it at least in the game and I'm very proud that they got this in the game and I believe they are making big stirdes to make this a great game.
But can I hear more about the gameplay. You know the bugs that nobody likes that we seen from the videos from E3 that needs to be addressed?Last edited by Droopy03; 06-09-2009, 05:41 PM.Comment

Originally posted by Donny Moore. We are actively looking at a robust, live bidding free agent type feature for the future, but a lot depends on the priority you all (the fans) give us on each feature once you get your hands on online franchise. There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

We have also looked at the data from NCAA 09 Online Dynasty and our offline franchise modes, and the reality is that very few players actually made it to 10 years of dynasty/franchise.Last edited by marktg30; 06-09-2009, 05:24 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
From a honest opinion. 10 years is plenty. It will be hard pressed to find guys to hang around in a league for 10 seasons, much less 30. So it at 10 is PLENTY for me.
Everything in the blog we knew already. but Thanks Ian....Best developer ever.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
Q: Do you have multi-week and season ending injuries in online franchise?
A: Yes, we do. We also have career-enders as well (very rare).
Q: What kind of options does the Commissioner have at his fingertips?
A: The commissioner is integral to the success of your online franchise. Just like in Online Dynasties, if you have a commish that forgets to advance the week or doesn’t control his owners, the league might fail. To accomplish this, we give the commissioner several different options:
- Boot Player – The commish can boot any unruly owner at any time. Any CPU team can be replaced by a user team (or vice versa) at any time.
- Promote Player – The commish can promote any other owner in the league to commissioner in the event where the commish goes out of town or is unavailable.
- Settings changes: Skill Level, Quarter Length, Fatigue, Injuries, and Accelerated Clock.
- Post News – The commish can post news to the console so all owners can see what is going on around the league.
- Add/Drop – As explained above, the commish can manipulate rosters to more realistically create off-season player movement.
THANK YOU.STR8 UP SIM MADDEN FRANCHISE (MNFL PS3). Commish.

Re: Madden NFL 10: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
Ian, Donny, ANYONE!!!! I have a question about the web interface--Will it be just a spot for stats and depth chart management, or will it be a spot to view game recaps, news stories, etc? I say this because in the Q&A it says the commish can add a top story from the console with no mention of owners adding stories or the ability to add a story to the web site.
I am trying to get an idea as to what exactly will be on the website.Comment

Re: Online Franchise Q&A with Donny Moore
The commissioner will have the option to Add/Drop players at will during the offseason (this is a website exclusive feature). I can give you an example of what we are already doing here at the office in our online franchise…Each team in the league is forced to give up five 70+ OVR players to free agency (we all agreed on the CPU team players to release). We then took that list, and did a quick free agency draft with that list of players. The commish then went into the Commissioner Options screen and add/dropped the players to the new teams. While this is not exactly ideal, it does give those folks who are looking for a very realistic Franchise experience a way to have offseason player movement every year.
I can work with that. It's like having two drafts in a sense. And this would force you to "think" as an owner as to who you keep and cut. I'm fine with it knowing it will be improved upon in the near future. Remember, Online Franchise is server based meaning we won't necessarily have to wait until 2011 for this to be changed.Comment
