I get what you're saying, but I feel that if they're going to put up a mini-hype for it (holding out the information specifically for a blog post), then it better deliver more than 14 questions, especially considering the amount of legitimate questions that were asked.
I think "mini-hype" is overstating it a tad. They simply asked for questions to help shape it, is all. I think that was the point being made. It's the "they better..." type attitude. They aren't obligated to do any of it. Yes, the dissecting and details are mostly for people like us, but the thought that they are required to cater to EVERY one of our demands is a bit much, IMO. I'm not saying that's what you're asking for, but some people get a bit carried away with their assertion that these guys are put on earth for our whimsy...lol.

Besides, I hate to say it, but maybe the reason there was so little info/answers is because there is so little to say.. I've been saying for a while now that I wasn't getting my hopes up for franchise as the marquee type feature we were all wanting in 2010. He addressed the logic and interface, which appears to be the only thing that got any real attention. And of the 100+ questions that were asked, how many were just variants of the same idea?

What it boiled down to is we wanted to know about logic and features. They addressed logic (largely) and basically stated there are no new significant features. I may be wrong, but I'm looking at it like if it wasn't answered, it probably wasn't addressed for the most part.

Sad, but probably true. Might disappoint some still holding out hope for revolutionary change, but that's just what I think. Hopefully the logic is as sound as we want it to be.

That's why they go into broadcasting, not coaching.

Payton Manning isn't spending his retirement years working on game plans until 2 in the morning as a coach.

There's a reason stars don't coach and "scrubs" do. It's no different than a musical teacher. A virtuoso is a wonderful performer, terrible teacher. Why? Because they never had to learn, really. It came naturally. A journeyman CB had to study, practice, and learn from years of experience in many different systems. They've seen it all, and they've done it all. Stars have a god-given talent that you just can't teach. Look at Deion Sanders, and the story I once heard of him sitting in a Dallas room telling the coach "you worry about that cover 2 stuff. See that guy? Where he goes, I go."

That said, Peyton Manning is one heck of a student of football.

Understandable, but I was not asking about a revolutionary feature. I am simply asking about the IR rules bug. I know I saw that question in the list compiled by the forum members.

It is a bug - bug's should get the highest priority. Also, it is simple yes or no answer.

Another member has indicated there is an answer out there somewhere, if anybody knows, please point it at me. This has been wrong for ages with Madden.

Bart Starr became a Head Coach (Packers)... he was a great player (HOF'er)...

Norm Van Brocklin, Head Coach (Eagles)... great player (HOF'er).

There are probably a lot more stories at the Collegiate level of great College players becoming College Head Coaches though.

                Re: NEW FRANCHISE BLOG

There was really not much in here that was new and I didn't already know. Anything that was the real meat and potatoes of franchise mode was not answered.

I'm going to assume that franchise is basically the same with some time spent on finding the bugs in the logic that should have just been corrected anyway.

I'll assume you can't move LBs to DEs.
I'll assume that importing a draft class still means that all the info will be revealed so there is no need to actually scout.
I'll assume that you still can't trade future picks.
I'll assume Free Agency is still just a matter of signing all the guys you want at the beginning of the season before the CPU does.
I'll assume that IR is still broken.
I'll assume the CPU still doesn't trade or make trade offers.
I'll assume that none of the front office type stuff actually matters still.

Disappointing...made up draft classes and some bug fixes don't make the franchise mode seem like a multiple season option for me.

                  Re: NEW FRANCHISE BLOG

Look, here is the bottom line...

I dont REALLY care about the players-coaches thing. I brought it up because I dont want to see Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ty Law as coaches in 2020. Not a game killer, but unrealstic and annoying. Randomly generated coaches would be much better IMO.

THat has nothing to do with why I wont buy the game. It just isnt where I think it should be, and if Im going to sink my time and money into a game, it better be up to standards. What I was looking for this year are some fixes in gameplay, presentation and franchise. Presentation, check. Gameplay and franchise, while they are both obviously better, still dont impress me all that much. And yes, you can tell quite a bit from just watching it.

I give EA a TON of credit. Unlike past years when Ive been furious at their lack of effort, I think they did the best they could, but sadly, it just doesnt meet expectations just yet. If it meets other peoples, so be it and I respect that.

I believe the game will be fun and a step in the right direction. But worth $60 and an investment of time...not from what Ive seen, at least not this year.

Why is everyone just assuming that great elite players and only great players will be the ones becoming coaches in Madden? Where exactly is this coming from?

And I seem to be one of the few that actually liked this blog. Went into further detail about the logic which is the foundation as was said. As far as I know, the problems that have made Franchise unplayable for more than a few years for some like myself are now fixed. So... I'm happy.

Great.......now can everyone please not try to persuade him to buy the game? Let him go, so we can keep a good discussion about franchise mode instead of arguing with people who aren't purchasing the game anyways.

I would have been happier if they were just honest and said "No, this is not in the game" or "This is left unchanged from last year."

Because we are still in the dark about 75% of our concerns.
                            Madden 11' Franchise should be

Madden '10 "foundation" + depth of Head Coach 09 = my dream franchise mode.

Yes, and people who arent thrilled with the game have no say whatsoever, right?

Insults mean nothing to me. People who aren't thrilled with the game does have a say on how they feel about it, but right now, many will try to argue back and forth with you on why they feel that Madden 10 is going to be great this year, thus starting an unnecessary argument.
