While I agree with you on the fact that wait till next year gets very very old.

Especially, for big changes to Franchise Mode.

But I personally think Jay Cutler would kick your *** and you would cry like a little girl who fell in the mud with her new best dress on........

To call Madden 10 simply a roster update is extremely one-sided and clearly there's a vendetta there.
It was a joke, not to be taken 100% literally.

Jay Cutler IS a whiner. Good riddance. And B.Marsh can take a hike too, if he's going to throw a fit (even though he's one incident away from being the next Pacman Jones).

I felt the same way about Madden 09, last year. That said, Madden 10 is in a unique situation, all things considered. Ian deserves the benefit of the doubt. Now if next year is the same story, then we have issues.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Franchise Mode Improvements: Part 2 Q&A

This Cutler banter with us Bears' fan is going to continue until he makes the HoF. But it is all in good fun. I hope Orton does a good job was as a good guy, just not always the best QB.

That aside, I think EA (on paper) did a lot with game play and presentation this year. If it all pans out well I think it will be for the greater good.

What annoys me is we were told they were going to be much improved last year and that didn't pan out. I was also told Franchise Mode would be greatly improved this year and it was just "tuned." Franchise hasn't had any drastic changes since current gen started.

Last year we were told progression was "fixed" and it sucked. We are being told that again this just and I was hopeful with Josh on board until I found out it is just once a year.

I don't think it is that people think what they did this year sucked or was just a "roster update" by most people's account.

But with the last few years people deserve the right to be skeptical. I was really optimistic until this last Franchise Blog. There are few things that were not addressed and some there were that I don't like (mainly the one per year progression).

By the way, I have bought every Madden ever sold except for a few on the PC and 09 on the PS2. So, it isn't like I am not a fan. But the last 3 years have really killed it for me.

Madden 10 looks to be really looking up. It's a whole new team and it was obvious, as someone else said, that 09' was something they didn't want to even talk about anymore. Madden 10 is looking to be a great step in the right direction.

I think, to be fair, that statement was made before Ian was put in charge. So, IMO, a lot that was said last year goes out the window. No different than a coaching change. New head coach, new playbook, etc.

                  Re: NEW FRANCHISE BLOG

This is my favorite part of the game and the one that has upset me the most the past 5 to 7 years.

I really do hope it has turned the corner, it seems like it from what he said in both articles. I really liked HC offseason logic and in season. Glad the brought him over.

Almost everything I read came from Ian or Phil.

In either case it doesn't matter. I think Ian is mostly in charge of game play and presentation and I think those are going to be stellar this year. I really think last year they didn't miss by that far. If roboQb was fixed and CPU sliders were in I think I would have been pretty happy. This year looks to incredible on that level.

Again, if they tuned everything and that was it, I would have been stoked. But I don't like the way progression was handled and am worried some of last year's bugs and other oddities are going to be back again.

No sense in worrying, at this point. Just kick back, relax, and wait for Madden 10.

Very like the Lions. They keep drafting WRs and 1 in five is worth while! Meanwhile they don't address the rest of the roster which is dire need of rebuilding. Hopefully the new changes in EA's front office will put the franchise back on track.

Why not just have a pool of thousands of prebuilt rookies, and then have the game randomly pick them for each class while also scrambling names and slightly modifying some attributes randomly like weight, height, age etc, i.e., not rating attributes. Put some code in that tries to keep the random class balanced if need be. Something like this would effectively be a class generator really.

Or why not just make an engine that generates rookies? I still don't understand why this idea was abandoned. What's weirder is Ian said he applied all these formulas in a spreadsheet to make some prebuilt rookies. Why can't those formulas be used in-game to generate them? Rookie classes of last gen Madden were alright. Even better when using a certain editor for the PC version to apply some custom formulas on them

I guess if repetition is an issue it will at least mean I like the gameplay and other parts of franchise mode enough to play the game significantly, but still, just baffling to me.
I agree .. its going to really suck when we post that we are using the same players with the same attributes from our franchise and I just think that completely takes the fun out of the whole dynasty its going to piss me off to see another os poster talk about the same draftee i just drafted it takes all the exclusivity out of the game . this sucks . (yet again) i guess i'll never be happy with ea . the game does seem to have improved alot it just figures they would try to fix something that didnt need fixing .

Most of those guys weren't exactly household names, though. I think the larger point is that coaches like Jason Garrett and Gary Kubiak were once role players or back-ups, you don't often see the likes of John Elway or Joe Montana go into coaching.

However, players who've become coaches and/or coordinators is quite long. This list doesn't even include the coordinators who were once players. Guys like Emmitt Thomas (who actually is a Hall of Famer), Ray Hamilton, Mike Mullarkey, Russ Grimm, Chris Miller, Bryan Cox, Al Harris, Tom Rathman, Henry Ellard, Matt Cavanaugh. Also, remember that Hall of Famers Bart Starr, Forrest Gregg and Mike Ditka were head coaches, and hall of famer Joe Greene was a long-time DL coach.
