Re: Does anyone play Madden on a plasma?

I play Madden on a Samsung PS 50 B 450 and have no problem with burn in. However, on a Plasma you should try to avoid 6 hours sessions with static pictures. Even when you may have slight "glowing" you may only notice it on a turned off TV and it will go away after a short while.

When using a Plasma you should lower brightness and contrast for the first 100 hours of use. A Plasma TV needs some care at the beginning ...

Best Plasmas TV you can get is a Pioneer - basta! If you are looking for less expensive TV I would personally recommend a Panasonic or the latest Samsung Series.

personally the best tv is the 120mhz touch of color by samsung........its picture is bar none the best ive ever seen. even at 120mhz its a shade below the plasma at processing. its not that noticeable when watching a fast event like football

Go with a Plasma, preferably a Samsung or Panasonic (or Pioneer if you have the money). Burn-in won't be a problem unless you accidentally leave it on overnight or something.

Re: Does anyone play Madden on a plasma?

I use to work at circuit city and basically if you buy a Panasonic Plasma one of the newer ones they have what is called a pixel shifter in their processing system. What that does it constantly keeps pixels moving so when you are playing a game like madden with a ticker bar or watching a channel like ESPN the scoreboards will not burn in. If you buy a cheaper brand such as a Vizio you not only will be setting yourself up for a return to the store we had a 40% ratio at my store, but you will also set yourself up for burn in. Panasonic is the best bang for your buck you can get a 42in panasonic plasma for about 1300 dollars depending on where you buy from. Mostly the difference between gaming on plasma and LCD will be brightness. The Plasma will have better depth of color as well as more natural looking colors and deeper blacks for other things besides video games. Get a plasma and get a Panasonic.

Thanks for all of the information everyone, very useful. I was leaning towards plasma, the only thing holding me back was burn-in. I guess it looks like that is not a big issue anymore, so I think I will go with plasma.

I was thinking of a Samsung, but now I will look into Panasonic too.

Maybe with the emphasis on presentation in Madden 10, the score board will be appearing and disappearing more frequently too!

LCD is the way to go.

I bought a plasma last year and saw the issue within a couple of hours of buying it. I took it back immediately and got an LCD (albeit at a more expensive price).
That burn in is a thing of the past bro...trust me, im a home theater nut and invest in alot of high end home theater equipment ($9000 thus far with audio equip)... it was "once" true that plasma's were notorious with burn-in but its no longer an issue and Plasma's are the best flat panels you can buy today..although LCDs are catching up pretty well.

I have a Panny 58 inch 2009 plasma..recently upgraded from the 2008 model..and videogames look incredible on it..i also had a pretty high end sony lcd and there is no comparison.. plasma's..mostly panny's, pioneer kuro's and samsung plasma's have very "ink-like" blacks... super sexy pq...where'as with LCD's..the blacks are more gray-ish in color..Also colors on LCD's seem more washed out compared to plasma's..though some people dont calibrate their sets lol...go figure but regardless..plasma's have better color distribution

Dont believe me..go hang out at www.avsforum.com for a while..you'll learn alot

One other major thing to consider is the room lighting. No one has touched on that yet, but if you have controlled lighting (heavy drapes or in a basement) go with plasma. If you are in a brightly lit room, stick with lcd.

Plasmas (and some newer LCDs) use a "glossy" screen that will do nothing but reflect light. If youre living room is bright, make sure you get a LCD with a "matte" finish to the screen.

Nothing worse than not being able to see your screen in the middle of the day.

Personally I have a Pioneer plasma as well as a Sony XBR LCD. The Sony doesnt even come close to the picture quality of the plasma. That being said, my plasma is in my HT room in the basement, and the LCD upstairs in our living room.

If you go with a plasma, check online on some of the a/v forums. You can find links to dload a burn-in prevention disc that you can play on your dvd to wear the colors in evenly and prevent burn-in.

Hope that helps, and good luck with the new tv purchase!

Well said and great advice for those needing to decide which way to go. Room lighting is everything and that should be the final deciding factor.

                        Same Dilemma!

I now have a 37" 720p JVC LCD calibrated pretty good picture!

                        I'm in the market for a 46" 1080p 120hz television

                        My choice so far is

                        1.Samsung LED 46" 120hz

                        2.Panasonic 46" Viera

                        3.Sony Bravia 46" 1080p 120hz

Which do you all think is the best out of those 3?
