Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?

I was at work today and had a realization that its time for the curtain to come down on this thread. This thread had a good run, had some entertaining moments, it made me feel something, but its time for it to take its final bow. The show's over.

[QUOTE=BezO;2039831973]. Speaking only for me, it's not that I'm impossible to please. It's that what would please me is not high on your list of priorities. I'd have to check my wishlist, but I'd bet that my top 3-5 wishes are still absent from '10.

I'm on board with both of these points. I've at least been reading this board for years and its easy to think that all this board does is swim in negativity but if you've been around awhile and think about it for the most part (again not entirely just for the most part) it isn't the same people complaining and I think this goes to bezo's post.

Everyone on here has a personal wish list and as EA puts check marks in the completed column the complaints tend to subside but then other people have their list waiting another year and their issues rise to the surface. last year it was hand towels, this year its franchise. It isn't the same people changing priorities just to complain.

I also don't think people here are impossible to please but I do think there are some people that are inefficient to please and that wont' change but for the most part they're only vocal because they want the game to be great for them, which may not be practical in some cases, but its the reason why OS exists.

My better sense tells me to stay outta this thread but.....

This sort of debate about Ian's treatment here on the Madden forum, can maybe be best grasped by checking out the NCAA forum.

Take a good long look at the utter abuse Adam and Russ have endured for months. These two have been called every name in the book...dumb, incompetent, etc...That they know nothing of football, that they don't care...and of course...are lazy, and should be fired. Over and over. I know this is easy for me to say, but Ian has been treated like a God, compared to these poor NCAA guys.

While I agree this is obviously true, I'm psyched at how much of my wishlist I should be able to cross off -- it's linked in my sig, if anyone cares to check it out..

I made that 2010 wishlist only weeks after 2009 dropped and hadn't updated it since October. so when I went back and looked at it again, I was really surprised how much has been addressed by the blogs and posts this dev cycle.

Personally I'm not too hung up on the flaws in the running animations. At full speed, things look pretty good. I felt 09 would've been alright if the bugs in gameplay and major errors in AI were ironed out, and the customization was brought back. I think that has been worked on, so I'm optomistic the game will play much more like football this year.

I'm looking forward to the slower speed, actual pockets developing, improved turn rate and accel/decel, spread ratings and its impact on depth charts w/new injury system, team specific CPU play calling, fixed progression, online franchise, better presentation and a cleaner interface.

It's frustrating as people act like we aren't dedicated to fundamentals though. That's my point here. We've fixed MANY major issues when it comes to the fundamentals, but that will get ignored - there will just be some other video where a guy broke a tackle on a player he shouldn't have that happened one time in practice mode and it will be the end of the world. You saw in person the presentation Phil and I gave to our senior management regarding the focus for the year...which was fixing the issues that have plagued Madden FOREVER. There was NO pocket last year...there was NO momentum last year. To be clear - I don't want people to congratulate us - I want constant feedback on how to keep improving the game - but I also kind of resent the fact if someone says that we aren't focusing on fundamentals, because we truly are.

They obviously are my motivation (hence why I'm here). There's no reason to put up with all the negativity that comes with community interaction if I wasn't here trying to please everyone. I wouldn't have stayed up until 5 am for a week putting in two new camera angles on my own time if that wasn't my goal.

My goal is to fix every single issue that any person comes up with. And we have done that to the best of our abilities this year - based on apex's videos, based on you guys and the community day feedback, etc. The point I'm making is that we'll continue to fix these issues but I feel many folks are insatiable. Maybe I'm wrong here...but doesn't it seem crazy that someone is in essence chomping at the bit to get the game solely for the purpose of recording bugs to put on YouTube?
Hey Ian How bout you not lie, because I know your playing Madden 10 every day, and after the realease of NCAA 09 seeing all the horrible responses you know that Madden still has the same problems as it always days. You know that 2k5 still has better animations, and the ppl in madden will still be treadmil running, tron jogging, the AI will suck on defensive, all the ugly tackles, the ofensive line will look horrible, and madden will once again be a bad game. Im right? I want you to tell everyone right now that all the most important gameplay stuff will be there! CAUSE WE WANT SIM FOOTBALL! Tell the people that all the stuff I just said isnt true, so when it comes out if your telling the truth then your telling the truth, and if not you just lied and stole 60$ from everybody you lied to.

And APEX makes those videos cause there some of the most important aspects of football and you cant get them right, and a game that came out 5 years ago did. You guys fail.

Really? I didn't know realistic running animations was the core of sim football . I consider the pocket formation, gang tackling, improved stats, improved presentation, and less gimmicks is what is going to make this game so good and those are the core of a realistic football game. Actually, I feel exactly opposite as you do. They really built a good base for years to come and even this Madden will be so much more sim than ever.

I'm with you on some of your points, but run animations are just as important if not more to the overall experience. If it doesn't look right, it will not feel right. If a pocket is formed but my running back is treadmill jogging behind the tackle instead of getting past the line to catch on the short route, that is going to frustrate me. I've been hearing about this base being built for so long. I have no other option but to evaluate the newest release and see if EA came through. If so, great! If not, see ya about this time next year.

physics is the core of recreating sim football IMO. with physics comes limitations and thats what EA dont want or cant achieve in there engine. thats the sign of real sim football. from the madden 10 e3 build, its will be better than 09 for sho but it wont be SIM football

and physics for all 22 players on the field by the way. i dont really care about how a player run(running animation) he have one hand on the top of his head and the other hand with the ball behind his back but if he change direction without physics applied then its weak IMO regardless
Madden and NCAA looks nothing more than COSMETIC UPGRADES.

The following is NOT meant at all as a 2k vs madden thread!- just my opinion on why all the tough comments are being made from my point of view.

I think the problem is, 2k has opened so many peoples eyes with both 2k5 and 2k8. 2k5 gave us a complete football experience. and showed us how far behind Madden was. I think you will hear complaints until Madden pases this game. 2k8 showed us some amazing gameplay, but lacked features and the nfl rights, some hold this against EA because they took away there favorite football title. They expect as good of a game, if you are taking away our options. I think when you reach the point of making a football game better then 2k5, the comments will die down a lot. All I personally want is a Madden game that will allow me to throw away my xbox and nfl 2k5 game, and make me hold on to my madden copy over a month before trading it in for a loss!

I also think many people dont hold you responsible personally, I dont. For me, I dont care how much time is put in by this guy or that guy, or who does what. Bottom line is, I expect a good game for my money. If EA needs to spend more to make there game worthy of $60, then thats what they need to do. Nothing Ive ever said was meant as a personal attack on any single person at EA, I could care less. Just please give me a $60 value for my $60. In the end, thats what we all want. $60 for rosters and gimmicks is a insult. And as far as this year being "different" or a new team, does this really concern us? Why do we care. Im not your employer, I care about the product. Im not going to make any excuses for EA. EA holds the power to make a great game and recieve great reviews if they wish. I'm not sure how much feedback we really need to give you-MAKE A TRUE FOOTBALL GAME.Watch some nfl games and go to work....
