Probably doesn't need to be said, but it is still imperative that they add analog running on top of that. The cuts and stuff felt good, but my balloon was deflated since it was still either run or sprint and no in-between. I'm very curious to see what they come out with next year with locomotion being a FOCUS and not just an area that gets a little attention (in light of all the other stuff they added).

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
One of the guys posted that for every 1 person who complains about Madden. There is 5 who love it. With that being said.. if they were to do a major overhaul on Madden to make a near perfect game. Do you think the vast majority of people would be turned off by it. Since they expect madden to play and behave in a certain way. I mean us purist would be jumping out our shoes if we ever got our Madden wishlist answered, but the average person probably would be turned off by the new Madden. Maybe EA takes that into consideration when making the game.

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
I beg to differ. I have not purchased a madden game since 03, why? because I felt that 2k made better football games. After 2k5 was released, then killed by madden I didn't play video football games for 2years, that was before I discovered Finns Editor (what a great piece of work).
Now, I have never stopped coming to the Madden boards, visit them every year about this time but that does not mean I have any intention on buying the game. I rent it, or play it in the store (mostly this) and in 5 to 10 minutes I can tell where the game is going and how good it is going to be (I have played madden since the first one was released back in 90-91 I believe). So I fully understand what the original poster is saying.
My simple point was that it isn't a "last chance".
When you look at the info are you just looking to look? With no intention of ever buying a Madden again?
If there were some positive reviews and some things added down the road that you really liked would you really say, "Oh well, I gave it its last chance back in 2009."
Again, not arguing with not buying it, just questioning if it can ever really be on its last chance.Comment

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
I'm gonna share this before this thread gets closed. I think the real reason people are so mad about Madden or EA lack of progression is this. When we first started out with Madden. We had systems that could never fully replicate the NFL experience so we didn't care about running animations, or back pedals, or tron jugging, but with systems that can fully handle whatever you throw at it and then some. We feel like EA is playing us for some chumps. I for one couldn't wait for Madden 08 to drop on the ps3. I thought it would techno bowl, Goldeneye, and 2k5 all wrapped into one. The greatest game ever, but i was so blowed away with how terrible the game was i felt raped.
Then comes Madden 09 i figured EA would have all the bugs worked out, and would fully take advantage of next gen hardware. This would finally be the game of all games, but it was 08 dipped in gold. So me and probably a million others was like. I'm gonna wait and see before i commit to Madden 10. Can't have my girlfriend=Ea break my heart three years running.
My 3 cents
I feel like with all the motion cap technology, the NFL films, and the powerful consoles with HDD in our homes, there should not be any reason for just small incremental improvements. It's the lack of competition is reason why the tweaks are so small.Last edited by MAzing87; 07-14-2009, 02:35 PM.Comment

No analog running = L
What I also want is a "juke" or "controled" running mode similar to FIFA that allows for manual jukes, running with shoulders parallel to the LOS, ect. Running with RBs looks especially akward.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
Lately I've been torn by the fact i want a next gen football game to play, but don't want to get anything from Ea sports. I've watched all of apex vids and agree what he's saying. So here lies the problem. What do i do give Madden one last chance or keep waiting til a football game comes out that's really nex gen. I'm leaning towards getting Madden, but really don't want to support EA if they are gonna put out another sub par game.
They all raved about how great Madden 09 was, and none of them found any bugs or issues with the game.
These sites cannot be trusted for a number of reasons when it comes to games like this.
Either rent it, play the demo, or come here for the real scoop.
But don't listen to a lot of peoples knee jerks reactions once it is released.. You should wait a few weeks until the newness or honeymoon period wears off.
Also, I would never say its Madden's last chance because I do not have an alternative, Its Madden or nothing.
So until the exclusivity deal is up, and there are other alternatives to an NFL football video game Madden will always get another chance with meComment

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
I want to rent the game but all of the Hollywood videos in Georgia are slowly closing down. I don't know any other places to rent the game and I definately can't get gamefly.
I'll just buy it and pray it's not a waste of money. It's all about the Chargers, the Lakers, and the............*falls asleep*

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
Madden '09 was the first I bought since '04 and I bought it on release day. That was a huge mistake IMO but Madden '10 looks promising but I'm going to wait and see what the big time glitches are.
I will probably play it at my boy's place before I buy it but in all likelihood I will buy the game as I've given up on NCAA Football. This was the first year since 1996 I didn't buy NCAA Football on release day - and there is no way in hell I'll be buying it."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

word of advice.. STAY AWAY from any professional review sites such as IGN, Gamespot, etc..
They all raved about how great Madden 09 was, and none of them found any bugs or issues with the game.

Yes, I understand what you are saying and I wasn't arguing against this logic at all.

I see what you are saying, you are saying, does last chance mean never purchase madden again. I will answer you honestly. I am a big 2k fan, I remember the days when ea and 2k sports used to go back and forth as to who's game was better, you should have seen the forums back then! They were shear, unbridled, passionate fury, from both sides. It was completely hilarious but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I remember the slick remarks ea developers would say concerning 2k, "you get what u pay for" (when 2k dropped the price to 19.99) etc... Then ea bought (back door stole) the nfl license. At that point, I made it up in my mind that I would never purchase another ea sports game (and I have not for many years).
Currently, I have observed the supposed changes to madden10, Ian seems like a passionate guy when it comes to creating a sim experience concerning madden. Yet that whole license thing and what ea has produced since being the only nfl game has gotten me completely sour concerning that company. Up until this year they have shown little respect for video game football fans. It is hard for me to let that go. So for me, right now, no purchase and that is final. If some of the guys that play the game, whose opinion I trust, give it an approval. I might rethink my position, although I doubt it.Comment

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
But I agree...we need a modifier or something in place to give the Madden RB's the look of a true RB approaching the LOS. And not just the look, but the controls as well like you said.
[Thinking out loud...] What if they got locomotion and momentum to a place where we could rid ourselves of the sprint button in Madden 11; RT or L2 would serve as a good button for such a modifier. Not sure what the button would serve as for other positions though? Again, just kicking around premature ideas.Comment

Re: Who is gonna give Madden one last chance?
I haven't read this thread but I'll give my opinon in football terms
Team Madden has hired a new GM and head coach. I will give them 3 years. Year 1(2010)- build your foundation for your team. Year 2(2011) continue building but show me progress. Year 3(2012) I want the team in serious contension(sp?) for best football game ever.
And who knows they might do it in two yearsComment
