Definitely LaDainian Tomlinson. I may be a homer but he is my favorite athlete of all time and I definitely feel like he is the best running back to ever play. That's probably an unpopular opinion with guys like Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and Emmitt Smith, but LT was just THAT good to me.

I also loved using Marshall Faulk in Madden 2002 and 2003. In '02 I would always start a fantasy draft as the Chargers and make sure I did what I could to get Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, and Isaac Bruce. Yeah, I should have just been the Rams (also Ernie Conwell at TE), but it was so much easier to trade with the CPU back then. I literally could sign a couple FA's and package them with a drafted player to get one of those three.

Fred Taylor was a lot of fun to play with over the years. Warrick Dunn was so fast. Clinton Portis when he was insanely fast.

There was a guys that played for the Browns a couple of years after that as well, can't remember his name though

Reuben Droughns (spelling). Candidate for one of the best I've played. Marshall Faulk for the Rams of course, Ricky Williams for the Phins, and Laurence Moroney for the Pats the year he was a beast. Stiff arms galore

Madden 2002, Earnest Graham (NCAA import).

I created a new big 3 in Dallas anchored by Graham (Chad Hutchinson & David Boston). Dude was a beast. Wasn't the fastest guy in the world, but he made plays when I needed them most and was a lock for 1500 yards a season. Funnest most engaged franchise I ever had. I played that one franchise until all three retired. I can barely make it through 3 seasons now. I don't know if it's nostalgia or what, but I had a blast playing Madden back then. Maybe the flaws became more glaring as my knowledge of the game improved...

I had a similar experience with Cedric Benson on Madden '04 or '05. Whichever one had the training camp minigames and newspaper articles. He was a strait up Ricky Williams clone his first season.
