No; controlling all 32 teams in not required.

With this method you control 1 team and go into edit mode at the beginning of every pre-season, and change the fake guys so the CPU cuts the fakes.

Are you using NCAA or generated draft classes? Does this make a difference? I will be using generated if that matters in the response - I will use a combination of both. I make sure to set the position priorities regardless for each team in cranking P/K down to zero and any team with a future or stud starting QB to zero as well

Does CPU still draft K/P early w/ generated classes? Will the Panthers/Jags/etc still draft a QB early with a 'QB of the Future' on the roster? - With generated classes the CPU has much sounder drafting logic

During the draft, I assume I have to draft for all 32 teams...is there a way to let the CPU make the selection for me for the other 31 teams? I read somewhere that I have to go pick-by-pick, but do I actually have to choose the draftee for each selection, or is there a 'let CPU choose' type option? - yes you can sim each CPU teams pick and just make a pick for your user controlled team

Are you saying that you scout for all 32 teams, or for none? If I scout for just my 1 team and let the CPU scout for the others, does it actually effect who the CPU will select in the draft? I understand I will have an advantage by knowing which guys I want to target, but is it not still possible the CPU will also find some of these players? - I am only scouting for my team. I have to assume that if I sim a pick for a CPU team it goes right to CPU hard coded draft logic and it has to be hard coded for them to find gems and draft busts. Scouting is for human benefit all the way. We are drafting blind otherwise.

      Appreciate your feedback.

one other question... so i take control of all 32 teams before week 1....make my changes (QB,P,K) then is there a tab, to switch all the other teams except my hapless, injury prone giants, to CPU controlled.

My copy of the game is still in the wrapping... was waiting to see if I was going to turn it in for NBA 2K12 which looks sick!

So i am trying to avoid having to edit ALL the UDFA's, as i just wanna play the game. If i choose to do 32 team control, do i really have to do EVERYTHING for the CPU? Or can i lets say make a second profile like you can for MLB The Show and set certain things for the CPU to do?

Sorry if its a dumb question, i would test for myself but i let my brother-in-law borrow it. Thanks in advance.

Basically when you first start Franchise mode, you have to go into settings and set what you want. The Franchise I'm doing right now has USER control for all cut days so I can deal with UDFAs as I see fit.

The only pain is that you have to switch to each team and then change the settings. So say I'm the Pats, I go into settings, put everything on user. Then I back out, change to the Raiders, go back in, put everything on CPU. Back out, change to the Rams, go back in, put everything on CPU. It's kind of time consuming. ALSO, if a team signs a new coach, it will reset the control to the USER so you have to adjust every offseason.

The easiest way to do 32 team control and avoid that is:

When your start a new franchise and select all teams set exactly what you want the cpu to do for the 31 teams you will not be playing as and set what you want to control for the 31 teams you will not be controlling to human up front. For example let's say all you want to do for the CPU teams is control player resign (not free agent auction) and cut days. Set everything to CPU except those 2 things up front in the franchsie set up menu when you begin a new Chise.

Then after you start cycle to your team that you want to play as and change all the settings to USER. This way you don't have to go through that exercise.

And like the JMar stated keep an eye on coaching changes in the offseason and make a note of what teams changed their HC and go into their franchsie settings and switch back the stuff you wanted to keep control of again.

                Simple and not time consuming.

I haven't messed with Edit mode yet but can you edit every player in your franchise even the non-user controlled teams? So I would have to do this for every team at the beginning of preseason? If so, SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN!

Started the process last night - if I didn't know how much things would be frustrating without doing it, this would be brutal for me.

I've spent over an hour editing already and I'm about halfway through the league. The hitch problems I run into is when these UDFA's end up being the threshold for a certain position on a roster. IE - I can't change a DT position to P when he's the 3rd DT on the roster. So I have to start manipulating some things with that happens - often I just change the attributes to 0 and hope the guy gets cut b/c he has.....0 at everything....maybe it won't work - but I'm not tremendously concerned with a 3rd DT.

Just pointing out - there are some times where some things get in the way. Occasionally, the UDFA also can be a K or P with a high ovr? rating - so that guy I usually make something he would be bad at - like LT or s/t where I know the team is set. Again, it may not work - but I haven't really figured out the best way to approach these things.

In this situation, I usually switch one of their defensive ends(a bigger one) to DT. Especially with the 3-4 teams cause they typically play all over the place anyway.

In this situation I let the 3rd string DT prove himself and check back in week 4 to discover his real rating. He might be a gem. Or he will just be a scrub 3rd string DT. Nothing wrong with that.

But this does require 32 team control and this thread istalking about the edit solution to avoid that. So I understand.

What I have done is use this method (edit) for obvious conflicts which are not as many as reported. EG- QB's

Is it pretty much a given that if the player's OVR? is way low that they still won't be kept?

Is it mostly the players who are 80? - 99? that are causing the problems?
