Re: Madden NFL 13 Features Playbook Kicks Off April 25th, with Presentation and Gamep

Why am I getting excited about this? Why? Why do I do this to myself each year? I played a total of 2 games of Madden 12 and just told my friend I won't be purchasing Madden 13 but then I'm excited about the details of a freakin playbook. I tell you what, if they improve the tackling animations and player movement 10X I may...Just may change my tune. We will see...

Was kind of expecting them to drop the ball there after getting some momentum last year. EA for the life of them can simply not seem to stick to a multi year plan. They just keep seeming to reinvent the same stuff over and over. I'm beginning to think it is deliberate.
      Assumptions aren't wise.

        Presentation (April 25th)

Madden NFL 13 delivers world-class presentation with an entirely new look and feel; plus, new commentators bring the game's broadcast to life.

Last year, they specifically touted working with CBS and NFL films, among others, to achieve an authentic broadcast feel.

"One of the things I think Madden fans will be most excited about is our broadcast presentation. Our mantra was “Go to the experts.” You don’t want a game developer’s version of an NFL broadcast, you want the real deal. We studied with multiple CBS football directors by having the entire presentation team studying inside the truck with unlimited access. We even got input from our own Hall of Fame broadcaster and namesake John Madden. Highlights include real broadcast camera locations for every stadium, all new stadium exteriors (seen more than 10 times per game on SNF), virtual cameras, virtual director logic, and new broadcast graphics designed by the geniuses behind MNF, SNF, and ESPN’s Sports Center."http://mymaddenpad.com/2011/04/28/ma...des-to-madden/

Going back and reading that, it seems a lot of things they worked on, didn't make it into M12 but will be in M13. We could be in-store for something along these lines, http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2042748937, or maybe something even more spectacular if they have finally resolved the alleged issue with using real network branding in-game. CBS has already been used in NCAA basketball 10, everyone knows about EA's contract with ESPN which should encompass MNF and the NFL network should attached to the NFL exclusive. It's a long shot but making use of various real life network branding and presentation graphics would certainly be "world-class presentation with an entirely new look and feel", as well as not unheard of in an EA sports title.

Man, Wednesday April 25th will be interesting. lol
Agreed bro. Hoping Broadcast is out of this world this year. I'm not going to my hopes up to much. But hoping we will finally be seeing some real TV style broadcasting like CBS or ESPN or something like that. I know it a long shot. But better then nothing I guess.

I agree but it's that whole new from the ground up thing that makes me hope all the conventional wisdom about real network wars are no longer relevant.

Such stuff was unheard of before next-gen Madden and other games use real network branding as a marketing tool. Just makes me wonder if all that talk about real network conflicts wasn't a convenient excuse in the past to push EA's Beyond Broadcast presentation that has since been scrapped.

these lines alone: Madden NFL 13 is all-new from boot up to credits. Every mode, every screen, every pixel has been reinvented delivering the most innovative, connected, and authentic Madden NFL experience in franchise history.--

-I just do not believe. They will have to prove that to me before I give them any more of my money
Well, technically a "pixel" as a source is a 2d image only. The elements that make up a 3D object are "voxels" So this is really more about UI's than in-game visuals.

To franchise's gameplay elements perhaps. What about the other 90% of it?

This "career" stuff sounds like Superstar mode redux.

I'm hoping there is some improvement in the FA signing when it comes during the regular season. I don't want to go sign a FA and my only option is 1 year 100.000$. Hoping to see them add back options to give FAs different types of contracts according to their overall rating and age and so on. I hated Looman and his crew water down FA signing in Madden 12. If they fixed it this year then I will be happy with franchise mode again.

PS They need to fix the accel. clock aswell. I hate not having the option turning it off in franchise mode.

Franchise mode was a pre release marketing headline last year. Last year, franchise mode would have gotten its own date for release info based on this format. And the end result was fairly minimal improvements while a bevy of issues and short commings remains.

It doesn't make a mention at all in this year's schedule of info releases. I think you'd be clinging onto a pretty slim hope if you were expecting much in the way of proper franchise mode improvements based on that info schedule.

It is awfully strange to only be able to offer a FA a one year league minimum deal with no options. I'd also like to be able to front-load or back-load any contract, and not just the FA Bidding ones.

And the accelerated clock is a must; not just the option to turn it off, but the option to adjust it up or down. I love playing 15 minute quarters and getting reaslitic stats off of it.

There is just no way they are going to dedicate that much resource into something that like 5% of people have. It just doesn't add up.
As of January, 25% of 360 owners have a Kinect as it passed 18 million sold and also holds a Guinness world record for fastest selling consumer device.

If that's not popular then what is? Just because you don't like something doesn't make it unpopular.

I couldn't tell you the last time I've used it for gaming, but it's a pretty remarkable device for navigating the 360 and apps like Netflix.

The only thing that doesn't add up is saying that only 5% would have access to a Kinect related feature.

It's no secret I loooove to speculate so let me present it like this.

If the devs responsible for working on offline franchise, online franchise and superstar were tasked with integrating those career modes together, all the existing features unique to each mode, would be new to the others.

So if all I ever played is one mode, each addition from another mode, is an improvement. For example, integrating player contracts into online franchise from offline franchise is an improvement. Implementing contract negotiations and potentially game play camera views from superstar mode into any franchise mode is an improvement. Being able to access an one player offline franchise through the internet from online franchise is an improvement.

That's what I mean by IF that is the case, "connecting career modes" is tantamount to improving each one.

I agree with you. I'm guessing in the wind but I would bet money that there is something to do with Kinect with Madden 13. Whether this is the "game changing" thing they are talking about for Game Play 2 I don't know, but I would bet money that Kinect and Madden 13 are connected in some way.

I think we can all agree that no matter what that 2nd thing is, it won't live up to what everyone hopes and expects it may be

Could totally see a Minority Report-style play builder, grabbing routes and players and positioning them into slots on the screen, hiking the ball or calling audibles by speaking them... some neat stuff that I might use once or twice... but disappointment I'll read about here for years.
