Whether it's all 6'8" wide receivers, or punters being drafted #1 overall, or crazy shoulderpads, or something else, THERE WILL BE A PROBLEM.

    2. We will have no control to fix it.

    3. I can play it like a franchise as you suggest, but that just means I'm playing a franchise mode with LESS control than I had last year, and with no draft classes. How is that an improvement? Because Brett Favre or TO might pop up and come out of retirement? That doesn't do it for me.

    4. I don't play franchise mode online or anything else so "full on immersion into a world that you and your friends built" doesn't apply to me.

I don't have online gaming "friends" or facebook "friends", I only have actual human beings that I like and interact with that are my friends. Strange in these times I know but if I want to do something with friends I call em up and we go do something. I don't click on their webpage or play in online leagues with them.

This game has too many flaws that are fixable to spin their wheels creating new modes that have fewer options while not addressing the problems. Scrap CC and twitter and fix the draft class imports and add a highlight show.

My personal opinion and nothing more.
I can understand some people being upset about editing not being in the game, and Fantasy draft (not draft classes really though... they were bugged up and need to be done right between the NCAA and Madden teams). BUT... over the last 4 years people on this site have been SCREAMING for a new career mode. One with immersion, one with substance and depth... Here they give it to everyone times 3 and now some people want old franchise mode back. In my eyes, some folks refuse to have progress... I spent several years missing a full online experience and had to essentially "build my own" immersion with 31 other guys doing weekly writeups, draft previews/reviews, fake storylines.. yet we (thousands maybe 10's of thousands of people) just kept plugging away because we knew that in the long run we would get there, once they got the base down... everyone would be better off with the end result. They announce no editing and some folks are freaking out without even playing the game, they are coming up with issues that "will be there... I guarantee" without even playing the game. Everyone who buys this game each year got upgrades... EVERYONE. For one year they aren't going to have editing... One year... some people are going to have to step outside their comfort zones they have built up if they really want progress.

    Just my thoughts

Don't give up hope...I woke up this morning and was 2 numbers away from calling and doing the same but I'll just wait a little bit longer before making up my mind...I'm an offline player and this game is way more for online.

Why is everyone so damn sure editing is going to be back in next year. Just curious.

I can't believe this is causing some to not buy the game. Is the removal of player edits really big enough to counter a great looking physics engine as well as what looks to be the best encompassing mode the game has ever had? I get that it's disappointing, but that seems a little knee jerkingly harsh to me.

Personally, if the game plays well, some of the problems I have with gameplay are removed and CC lives up to the hype, I could not care less about being able to edit players. I think I'll live for one year as it's even obvious they did want to put it in and will again in the future.

                Personally? Yes.

My main reason is because you can't edit jersey numbers. From what I remember in Madden 12, there was no number restriction for positions so a tackle could be #1. That's highly unrealistic and flat out wrong.

If the number restriction is still not in place, what happens when a player is traded to your team when another player wears that number?

If you're the Patriots and trade for some player who wears #12, does Madden change the number for traded player? For Brady? Or neither? Do you have two #12s running around?

Physics is a great addition, but to tote all of this new equipment and then be unable to change it is ridiculous.

I don't think that they ignored the feedback but it's a matter of what they have time to implement given the development cycle. It's give and take. They created this new mode from the ground up but things are not all there. We express their importance and EA still has to make the decision when they can get them done the right way.
I'm at work so I dont have to time to do some digging but I've SEEN communication from EA to GCs that encourages them to be positive. I'm not saying that its a demand but its clearly encouraged by EA.

OR EA may have decided that focusing time and resources on Twitter feeds and Trey Wingo and the XP system was more important than NCAA import or Player edits.

How many seasons do you play in a franchise? Hopefully it's upwards of 5 or 6 at least... so you will be mixing if fake rookies all over the place soon enough anyways.
You call them fake and while technically that's true when I've played with and against guys for four years in NCAA they don't feel fake to me at all. What does feel fake is Blake McCarron, Tommy Meateater, Sammy Badfeet, or whatever.

Also, I'm still very skeptical about all these so called enhancements. Twitter feeds, most likely bad cpu trading, and rpg style leveling up don't sound like any thing I'll be immersed in and even if they are the fact that the league will be made up of all truly fake players in a matter of no time really doesn't help those features.

And yes I've read all the info and it's a little condescending to imply otherwise to anyone who's complaining about this.

Having said all that I will be renting the game and if I'm wrong about all that stuff I'll happily admit it

please show me, because this has not been my experience at all. They have never said "be positive about this or that" when we don't feel that way. They may not let us talk about something until they release the information, be we are not told to spin it any certain way.

You can ask Steve_OS about the type of interaction they want from us, he has witnessed how they communicate with me first hand.. as well as the type of feedback i give.

The only positiveness EA demands we do is be positive (attitude wise) towards the community. they have NEVER once told us to be positive about the game...ever. We are encouraged to give our full thoughts on the games we focus on once the embargo's are lifted... which we do every year. Which I already have done and did last year (not happy about online franchise going untouched).

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head

Here are some of my major issues with no player editing.

                            1) The Victor Cruz effect. If there was no player editing last year, by the time December rolled around you'd be playing your franchise without Victor Cruz, someone who wasn't even on the initial roster that turned into one of the most explosive WRs in the league. Tell me if you're a Giants fan and you're playing your franchise and Victor Cruz comes out of nowhere to become one of the best players on the team that you wouldn't want to quit and start your entire franchise over again. Thats BS. Where as last year you could find a player with similar height/weight, and 1 year experience in the FA pool and change his name and attributes and voila! You have Victor Cruz and can continue your franchise.

                            2) Draft classes and fake UDFAs. I could live with fake draft classes and UDFAs if we could edit them. It wouldn't be fun to manually change all the names but it would still give my franchise some sort of realism. I'm a huge college football fan - so the thought of playing season 2 without Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Logan Thomas, Tyler Bray, etc. Season 3 without Mike Dyer, Marcus Lattimore. Season 4 without Jadaveon Clowney, Kiehl Frazier, etc etc. I'm sorry EA but thats a deal breaker for me - yes.

                            3) In Madden 12, every week the roster update would come out I would go into player management in my franchise and push each players ratings up or down depending on how their rating changed in the weekly update. This way someone like Doug Baldwin who was a 50 OVR or something like that on the initial roster - I could bump him up every week to where he ended up near 80 OVR by the end of the season. Without player editing I would be stuck having Baldwin as a 50 OVR with D potential in my franchise. Same issue there that we had prior to Madden 12.

was not meant to be condescending but when someone says they have less control this year, it leads me to believe they have not fully fleshed out all that is CCM. Maybe im misguided, and apologies if it's deemed condescending.

Like i said, some of what you talked about is absolutely frustrating to have removed from the game.. but some of the additions are things I've waited for since they took out Online Franchise from the PC game back in 2001. Sorry if we just disagree on what is progress...
