Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
CC is franchise mode. It's unreasonable IMO to think they should have included two separate franchise modes. A more relevent question would be why didn't they include some sort of single season mode, without all the franchise stuff? That way one could still edit rosters and use them offline in some capacity other than play now mode. Because nobody will waste their time editing rosters for play now mode, that's just insulting.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
No knock to GameChangers and Community Day attendees, but this is exactly why I dont trust their previews or initial impressions. Ive been to a few CDs and its very difficult to see through all the presentations and the excitement of playing a new game. Its hard to remember or even think of key questions like Editing when you are looking at the new features. Also there is no guarantee that the developers will give you a straight answer.
I'm an online gamer for the most part, so i see it as two huge steps forward with a small stumble back. Once you start messing with the XP in a CCM all the ratings are changing anyways. I understand the equipment aspect, but the ratings is something that will be dynamic inside the CCM... so I'm ok with that part for now.
Hopefully it's something they will address though, as a large portion of the community really love to edit their rosters.. that's for sure.EA SPORTS GameChanger | Admin/Co-Owner at Tradition Sports Online | SQL DBA

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
we did not even see CCM in February, and then we saw a very raw version in May. It's hard to know exactly what you can and can't do online at that point. There is no real online environment at CD, so basically your looking at all the new features in offline type environment. I don't do much roster or player editing so i was more focused on the CCM mode as a whole.

I will say if no one in that entire group thought to question the effect CCM would have on Franchise...EA needs to select a more diverse group of GCs. Not just all people who play online or tournament players. The minute I saw these changes the first thing I thought was "Multiplayer franchise?....Edits?...NCAA import?" Why? Because I dont play online and my focus is offline franchise.EA SPORTS GameChanger | Admin/Co-Owner at Tradition Sports Online | SQL DBA

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Don't get me wrong - I am beyond pissed that we can't edit players in CC. I am one of those gamers that spends as much time editing as I do playing.
I am even more frustrated that you cant import draft classes from NCAA though. I love playing those two games simultaneously and being able to bring my players from the NCAA game over to my Madden franchise. Brings a lot of realism with the connection between the games (funny that the new feature is called Connected Careers when it is disconnecting their two major football titles). The fact that starting in season 2 I am going to be playing with fake rookies is a deal breaker for me.
For example, I'm a huge Tennessee fan and really excited to see where Tyler Bray and Justin Hunter go in the NFL. I'd be excited to try to trade up in the draft to take one of them and play my franchise with them. Now I don't have that chance and will have to play with Henry Winkenbacher as my QB of the future. C'mon EA!!!!
Im gonna stick to Madden 12 since you can have full editing controls. Only thing I'll be missing out on past year one is the real schedule. I'd rather play a phony schedule for one year than not have the ability to edit.Comment

How many seasons do you play in a franchise? Hopefully it's upwards of 5 or 6 at least... so you will be mixing if fake rookies all over the place soon enough anyways.
You have to put it on a scale and weigh it out.. i still think the new features outweigh a draft class or two.. no? And the draft class import never really worked well in translating ratings and such IMO.
I'm not making excuses, it's obvious they had to choose what to put in and what to take out. They rebuilt the whole mode.. some 80+ new screens.EA SPORTS GameChanger | Admin/Co-Owner at Tradition Sports Online | SQL DBA

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Wow 30 plus pages in under 24 hours? This thread will be MASSIVE before the game is released.
I don't understand the excitement that CC was supposed to generate. They kept harping on the idea that everything was in "one mode" now like it was some big deal. Who cares if it's one mode? How does making it one mode make it better? I only play franchise mode and i don't care about superstar mode - I never touch it. Why would I care if a mode that i wasn't interested in was now part of something that i played?
year after year they ask themselves how they can improve the product, or monetize the consumer, or get us all on their facebook page or something. and year after year they CONSISTENTLY get the wrong answers. the answer is so simple it's right in front of their faces but yet they always make it about somethign else. I don't care about madden ultimate team. i don't care about connected careers. i don't care about online gaming after EA's failure to develop a game that i can enjoy online. i want a franchise mode with control, good gameplay, good presentation, and depth.
IT'S THAT SIMPLE.
Then they add RTP and take out franchise mode. Why not just leave franchise mode in for the people that like to play it? i have ZERO interest in CC. Searching for the words to sum up with my frustration with this game for SEVEN YEARS NOW and I can't find them so I'll close with this:
Charlie - THE LONG TIME DEDICATED FANS OF FOOTBALL GAMING AND EVEN MADDEN
Lucy - David Ortiz, Ian Cummings and now Josh Looman

When you say that you don't trust GC'ers or event attendees' impressions, to me that suggests that you think we could/would mislead you. Maybe that's my off-base interpretation.
But then you mention that it's hard to remember key details when sampling new features and taking in presenations, which is more along the lines of how I feel about it.
I mean honestly, who would've thought that we'd have a thread going about the omission of 'edit player'? You don't think to ask a question like that @ CD b/c you'd like to think most of the things you enjoyed from the previous game will be carried over. As we can see, that's not always the case.
I will say if no one in that entire group thought to question the effect CCM would have on Franchise...EA needs to select a more diverse group of GCs. I can assure you that if it was an open environment to test CCM in Feb, I would've learned of the inability to edit players b/c I often check to see if any sig passing animations have been added. It simply wasn't available considering that we got such an early look at the game.
Additionally, our reaction to CCM was much like everyone elses. Initial Ooohs & Ahhhs. Then more oooh's and ahhh's. Then, you peel back the layers and do see some shortcomings. But there should be enough oooh's and ahhh's to see the forest through the trees and enjoy M13 to a major degree. At least that's how I feel...the community will get over it and move forward. It's still a helluva mode.Comment

Do you have to get over a few setbacks like editing a roster and no draft class.. yes, it appears that won't be available. Disappointing, frustrating... yes.. as expressed by us and everyone else. But after a few seasons, it's full on immersion into a world that you and your friends built... players will take on their own persona's, fake rookies will rise to prominence and take on mythical type proportions in your leagues... (at least in my experience).
The way i play the game, i get so deep and far into Franchises that im willing to sacrifice the first few seasons of rookies for the full immersion experience... especially in an online setting.EA SPORTS GameChanger | Admin/Co-Owner at Tradition Sports Online | SQL DBA

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
My initial reaction was to ask why do people keep implying that franchise mode is gone? But I guess the way CCM was initially advertised has people feeling that way. Still, I have to believe that if you read about what's there, you'll clearly see that franchise is still there. The only difference is that you can be fired as a coach and even that has an on/off.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Then play it like a Franchise.. you can do that. You don't ever have to see the superstar portion of a CCM if you don't want to. And the version of franchise that you get in CCM will be far deeper than anything you've played before in Madden. If you like immersion.. offline or online.. then this is definitely the game for you.
