Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
Could probably have had a few more options but I wanted a cut/dry poll.
After all the "not buying now!" posts I was just curious what the % of outright no buys and buys were.Joshua:

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
NCAA didn't impress me so after 3 straight years of it I'm finally going to skip a year and go with Madden.
I'm an online gamer so as long as OSV welcomes me back, I'm on it.
I respect them listening enough to implement a real collision system despite it not being quite ready. I feel for you offline/OCD gamers though and will also fight the good fight with y'all. I'm still expecting probably some crazy bugs that only we at OS will find but I'm willing to take that chance.#WashedGamerComment

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
Man I can't believe EA has pushed me out the door like this, this year.....
Sadly No
We've had and loved some of these features for Years.....and a few more that we fought long and hard for.....They would have enabled me to truly love the additions they made
Now they're just throwing them aside like a chewing gum wrapper
And I think Ive just reached a point where Im tired of the utter Bull SH** with them always dividing the community and making segments pay a price every other year
Other Sports Franchises don't constantly do this with their Fanbases.... don't let anyone tell you different....This is not a Sports Genre Problem....IT IS A MADDEN PROBLEM
Moving Forward....Why should anyone believe these features will be quickly added back in????
From all the tweets,PodCasts, and insights from GameChangers whose talked about their Design Decisions.......IMO it seems like there will be more Restrictions on these features getting back into the game then ever
Book of Connected Careers Restrictions
I think we're going to get an endless barrage of
"We didn't have time for it this year"
"Well we'd like to do that in the future but"
"Look at what else we did"
year...after...year...after...year
And if I have the wrong impression then Looman or whoever needs to come forward an tell us different.....Like how they apologized for the audio last year and told us it was going to be a major priority for them
Stop laughing it off and blocking people on your twitter account who are concerned with these omissions
And as for 13 I pray whats in there works better then any other Sports Game Franchise Mode Ive ever seen and that your typical EA shenanigans of Bugs aren't running rampart...Lets just say I have my doubts
Otherwise the guys who can still enjoy the game are going to get mad too, making everybody feel screwedHere We Go Steelers!!! Here We Go!!!

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
Of course its a No Buy for me. I like some of what I've read about the new features, however most people who have seen the game up close say that its still "madden" and feels like it. To me that's the deal breaker. Until a complete shift occurs in how maddened decides to represent the game of football, ill never feel inclined to buy this game. As much as I love football, I've gotten accustomed to just skipping football video games and just enjoying them.on tv and playing other games. I might rent maddened this year if the hardcore sim heads have positive things to say, but I'm not holding my breath.Comment

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
After all of the news on June 4th I really wanted to get the game but my excitement for it quickly died down as I found out how many features have been removed from the game.
Until player editing, fantasy draft and the ability to control more than one team are back in the game I don't see myself buying it unless I can find it on sale later in the year for <$30.Comment

Let me preface what I am about to say by saying that I will not be purchasing Madden this year. I like alot of what I heard, but certain things....mainly having to use EAs rosters and lack of control within CC, are keeping me from buying.
Okay...so, for years, people begged and pleaded for a major overhaul to franchise mode and for years, they only made minor upgrades.
This is basically the answer to those prayers....even though its not quite there yet.
Obviously, its hard to say for sure, but on paper, this new mode is an amazing foundation to build off of. This isnt the same gimmicky crap we are used to seeing in franchise mode where they implement something that could be taken out or scrapped. This IS franchise mode, and while there are definitely some things missing....I...for the first time in years....think its actually going somewhere.
But people saying they "took out features"...no, they didnt.
They took out franchise mode, and while yes, those features were in it, its not like they could simply just used the same code in this new mode and make it all work the same. Its not like it they just took those features out of the old franchise mode. They simply didnt have time to implement them in this year. You may call that an excuse, but if thats the case, you clearly arent being objective. I know EA has a history of removing features and stupid stuff like that....but they only thing they really removed was the franchise and superstar modes.
Its clear some people are dwelling on the negatives of all of this. Yes...I completely understand and respect some peoples issues and understand why some people arent going to buy it. But I guarantee that if a couple of these features were put in....they would absolutely adore Connected Careers. I know they are big features and need to be put in there, but there have been alot of amazing things added new. I dont know how they will work in the game, but on paper, the additions are spectacuar.
All Im saying is that people should at least give it a chance, and if those features keep you from enjoying it, then wait unitl next year and hope another cycle brings those additions to CC mode. Yes, people are used to hearing "maybe next year", but for some reason, I think this new team is legit. In their first cycle, they built a completely new franchise mode and implemented new physics into the game. No small task and a huge jump.
Also, I think people need to realize that this is a new Madden team. Yes its still EA, but the new creative and development team, based on interviews Ive heard, sound like they are extremely passionate about this stuff. With Ian Cummings and Ortiz before that...I never felt as if it was more than a job to them. Yes, Ian interacted with the community, but still, listening to him talk about Madden and some of the people he worked with, I never got the sense that he had a real passion about this franchise.
Now, I could be wrong, but thats just the feeling I got.
its also worth nothing that Josh Looman wanted to implement this mode YEARS ago, but it got shot down by Ian and others. Had he been able to put this in the game years ago, it might be amazing by now. Instead, we got a new mode that will need another year or so to grow.
Bottom line: I know people are angry about the omissions, but try to be objective. If you dont like how it sounds, dont buy it. If you like how it sounds....buy it if you want. If you are on the fence....wait to try it out and then make a decision.
I will wait to try it before making a final call, but while I am disappointed in some things, I also see alot to be optimistic about going forward.
If this new team pulls the carpet out from underneath us like it did before and not improve on this much next year....well....EA will never get another cent from me again.Comment

Re: Madden 13: Buy or No Buy
Even if the game doesn't quite live up to expectations, I haven't played an NFL game in so long so it should be great anyway. I am quite hopeful though.
