Things do tend to be nonsensical to certain people, but sure, I have a few thoughts on the demo. The players skate around the field like Tonya Harding. Users have as much control over player movement as a traffic cop has over a tornado. The quarterbacks play like robots, the fullbacks play like Corky from Life Goes On, and defensive backs play like Redbull-infused gods. Cutscenes and commentary are stale and repetitive, and the game has an empty feel to it that makes you miss every single football title that ever came before it. If this demo was launched in the 50's electric football would have shrugged it off to focus more squarely on rival Silly Puddy.

Is it possible for EA to tune the the demo? I must be going crazy because I swear they toned down the Infinity Engine in my most recent game today. In fact it was so bad that I thought I was playing Madden 12. Literally I was seeing no physics based tackles whatsoever. Very strange. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I have not seen this. If anything I have to admit The new infinity engine is pretty sweet. If EA has something going for it they had the resources to come up with a pretty cool new engine. I just wish they did more with it. Come on EA go that extra mile for once. The games feels better than it has in a long time though. Anyone else impressed with the new engine? I've seen a lot of stuff that just was not possible in past maddens. It's ilke a whole new game to me but then it's the same old madden too which is frustrating.

What i see is just parts of the game just feel the same old game. Where other parts are like wow. So maybe this is what you are experiencing.

I'm in the game. I'm playing that dream football game then I'm playing the same old boring madden. It's like jeckyl and hyde.

It reminds me of Live a few years ago when Mike Wang came aboard. Some parts of the game felt so right and like you were in the game but other parts were just too canned. I think EA out of anyone has that special something but they just never go that extra mile.

This game is a massive tease to me. It's like they copy and pasted this new engine over the same game. Great technology that they did very little with. I think EA has a lot of money but very little creativity.

Okay, after playing numerous games, I'm now seeing the braindead AI others have mentioned.....

Many times I've been up by a small margin, and rather than try to win, the CPU did stupid things like run a HB sweep with no TO's left. No effort to even TRY to get into game-winning FG range, no effort to pass and get out of bounds to stop the clock, etc.

If the retail is like this, I'll most likely pass on Madden after all.....have to go read thru the retail impressions first.
