Yeah, I mean if I could get the game under $15, then hell yeah why not, but the problem with M13 is that it is $60 a for a game that is not only an incomplete game of football, it could also be a potential bust or game in a forgotten three year plan.

Yeah, I remember playing against the 49ers, and every 1st and 2nd down I'd stop them easily, whether it's a run or simple pass, then EVERY third down they'd get an easy pass to the flats to a guy whose WIDE OPEN, whether I was playing man for three straight plays or zone, it didn't make a difference.
Every single 3rd down and inches they would throw in the middle to a wide open receiver that had nobody around him.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
It seems like I'm playing on a different Infinity Engine than everyone else. I've played the demo for 3 or 4 hours, and really haven't seen any crazy physics fails. Sometimes tackles look a little goofy, but I think the Engine overall makes the game look miles more realistic, and I'm glad to see the same generic tackle animations that happened over and over gone.
I can agree with everyone else that passes are dropped too easily. I'll hit my open tight end down the middle who will completely reel in the pass, but even a minor lick from the safety seems to squirt the ball out of his hands.
The new lighting scheme feels like a hindrance in the game. At least in the Seahawks - Redskins matchup, I can hardly tell the players apart. They all look like dark figures. This may be my TV, but does anyone else feel this way?
On a side note - Are the refs silent? Maybe this is a demo glitch, but it's quite frustrating not really knowing what the penalty is or who it's against until the accept/deny screen appears. And sometimes it shows them from behind, which is stupid.
Overall, I think this is a great demo. Maybe I just haven't played enough, but the 3 or 4 hours have been almost always enjoyable.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Just played the demo on the Xbox 360 using All pro.
Thoughts: All pro is way too easy. Gained yards running and throwing at will. I spent most of my time using a different play each time just to see how the game plays.
Serious concerns starting with the CPU play calling. 1:31 left in the 4th quarter and I am winning 10-7 using the 49ers.
1) The CPU kept trying to run the ball from their own 36 yard line with no timeouts??? So it then punts on 4th down with 3 yards to go while sitting at the 50 yard line???
2) So I decided to give the ball back by punting just to see if the CPU is really that dumb. Short version: THE CPU IS DUMB AS A BOX OF ROCKS! Once again being down by 3 points with 46 seconds left in the game, it continues to try and run the ball in the 4th even though it had ZERO success all game long. It then completes a monster pass and stepping out on the sideline stopping the clock with 4 seconds left in the game at my own 27 yard line. Figuring the CPU would kick the field goal to tie? NOPE I FIGURED WRONG. The CPU runs the ball and getting stopped at the line of scrimmage losing the game to me 10-7.
Yep, I am thoroughly convinced that we are not going to see a solid football game this generation from EA SPORTS.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I did noticed one glitch that was strange in the demo. On 4th down with 1:30 left on the clock in the 4th, the CPU was up and I tried to go offsides to stop the clock.
It wouldn't let me touch any of the CPU players. I would just pass right through them as if they weren't there. Ran up and down the line passing through the guys on the punt team, until they finally hiked the ball and I was flagged for offsides.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I was a benefactor of bizarre CPU playcalling myself...was playing as the Niners and was up on the Giants by 7 with under 30 seconds in the 4th...ball at midfield and they are content to call running plays up the middle and not use any of their 3 timeouts. Game over. I win? I guess...Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Well, after several games the verdict is a thumbs down. I'll pin it down to my 3 biggest reasons - Gameplay, Presentation and Fun Factor.
Reason 1: I can't beleive a game this sloppy is being sold to the masses under the guise of "Infinity Engine." It may be the Infinity Engine, but it was not ready to be packaged and sold to the masses. Contact between players (which is the heart and soul of football) is just down right sloppy - whether it be how players tackle, react to being touched by either their own teamate or the opposition, or the after the play bumbling and stubling - it is just down right ridiculous. Very smart of EA to make sure a replay cam was not available. The players feel floaty and this is especially true on Defense, where I feel like my job is just to spam the "switch defender" button until I get close to making a play (compared to controlling one guy and feeling really in control of that player). What else can I say, the kick game is boring, the return game is one big pinball machine where you're still floating downhill, OL men still step "in sync" with one another compared to reacting to the defender engaging them, four or five players will get up the same way in the same motion at the same time after a tackle, etc. etc.
On a good note, there are some cool tackle moments, but in playing NCAA 13, I've seen many of those same kind of moments (i.e. a wide receiver getting flipped in the air after making a jumping catch).
Reason 2: The presentation is improved, but still subpar... camera angles on replays are terrible...no halftime or postgame show...no custom soundtracks, etc. Overall Presentation is much better in NCAA 13, they should just copy that where it shines. I don't get why they don't.
On a good note, I like the new inrtos, the commentary team is improved, the crowd audio is more dynamic (Redskins were practically booed off the field while losing at halftime) and the orchestal music selection is pretty good.
Reason 3: The fun factor is just not there. With all of the gameplay and presentation flaws, I just don't feel immersed. I'm torn between moments where it seems like they really tried, and other moments where they just said "We're Madden; take it or leave it."
Unless final product is drastically different, I will leave it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Yeah, I remember a game between the Redskins and Seahawks I did where they where winning like 17 to 14 or something, I had like little to no TO's and instead of them running out the clock on 3rd down, they instead passed and it was 4th down with 0:03 left on the clock lol, so they had to punt and I returned it for a TD with doing ANY JUKE, SPIN, CUT, or ANYTHING; I simply swerved, and zig zagged around the field for a TD after thinking "why not" lol.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
With this new physics engine you never know how a play is going to end up.
Here is a scenario: We all know Randy Moss is a beast on this game. He is an acrobat. Score is 14-7, 2 min drill and I am driving within Giants territory. I send Randy on a 15 yard up and in. I throw the ball as Randy is making his cut to the inside of the field. The ball is placed about a yard in front of him. He goes airborn, lays out to catch the ball, catches it for split second, and is hit by a defensive player in mid-air. He is cartwheeled and coughs up the ball. Another defensive player then catches the ball for a fumble recovery/ interception and is tackled shortly after.
After this play I was scrambling for my instant replay, but since it was the demo, it was lost forever. This was the single most amazing thing I've ever seen in a football game. Just unrealComment

I just realized that you can change the minimum play clock time from :10 to :25. Options wise this has to be one of the better demos that I've seen.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
the ONLY bad part about this demo and madden 13 overall is the fact that i will NEVER play NCAA football 13 ever again ...i had a feeling when i preordered it that i was wasting 45 dollars but i needed a "new" football fix....oh well it gets traded in for either nba2k13 or COD Black Ops 2....lolComment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here *(PS3 Vers. Online)*
I havent gotten very far into the impressions thread yet but after playing the demo, also owning 2K8 and reading your thread I want to say 2 things
Firstly thank you for referencing 2K8 has NFL rosters for this year because I would have never known this until I read your post! I downloaded them and played them for the last 2 hours and cant believe how much more fun and realistic AP2K8 is now!!!
and secondly and more importantly on topic here, I agree with your assessment of the demo. It's almost as if the new physics engine takes the game down a notch from previous versions rather then enhancing it at all. This is a shame because I, as many others were very vocal about wanting a true physics engine and now they implement it and I almost wish they didnt!
The game feels very messy and is difficult to enjoy. It reminds me of the days back of Coach's Club Quarterback in regards to how silly some of the tackles and interactions look
I'm glad I downloaded the demo because the one saving grace for me with this game was supposed to be the physics engine since I heard they stripped out all the customization abilities of the Franchise mode.
With the state that this game plays along with the lack of editing and playing out different matchups in franchise mode, there is really no reason to consider picking up this game
Hey no problem...glad I could help. Shoot over to the Other Football section there is a sub forum for All Pro Football 2K8 to share your opinions
And yes its a shame this game looks the way it does. I really had high hopes for this physics based engine. I thought it was going to give us a real backbreaker sense of immersion and dynamic play but it just feels like an add on module at the point of contact while the rest of the game feels almost identical to previous Maddens. Sorta like what EA did when they added physics to their NHL game, It really only changed one small area of the game when players get checked....and it changed it for the worse! Players went down like floppy fish out of water...it looked so ridiculous.
Oh well....saved me some cash I guess. Im not gonna be a guinea pig for this game. Call me when they're in Phase/Year 3 (again!...LOL)Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)
It's funny to me when people say that by playing the demo that's there's not enough there to warrant a purchase in this years madden. I hope that means that they haven't bought madden for about the last 5 years then cause they haven't added jack really in any of them. Ever year up into this one has been the same ,vanilla, boring madden with one new feature every year that didn't really do anything for the gameplay. I'm happy there trying to do things different I don't want the same game year in and year out example college football. I told myself to play the demo first before reading anything about it and that's what I did with all the little knit picking going on its a demo no one knows what the retail version of the game is gonna be like. Madden is finally getting into the game and if they would of just added the new passing game like its little brother did I would of been pissed.OS needs a Thumbs DOWN button

Anyone else noticed Right Ends are still underpowered vs Left Tackles? It was a major complaint last year, and I don't really see any change. Using SF's Justin Smith I swear he is on the ground more than he is upright. Seriously, on over half his pass rushes he ends up on the ground, and most of the rest he is stonewalled.Comment
