Soxfan, and for anyone else that wants to read this Q & A, this session, Dan Bekins, really gives out some good strong answers from people that were very disappointed.

This is where I received my information.

I took the easy way out and just scrolled to his name every time. No need to read every page.

I think he stops appearing on about page 8 or 9.

Welcome to EA Forums, where you can chat about games with other players, help each other out, share feedback, and report issues you’re having with EA games.

He isn't unnamed after you read this.

By the way, just saw your post above. No way his answers are generic or marketing driven. They are straight and to the point, IMHO.

    We'll see, though.

Thanks. To be clear, I'm not saying the answer to "why is ___ missing" can realistically even be specific. My point is "we want to get it right" and "we're looking into it" mean little when not followed up with action.

So while, yes, DanBekinsEA, seems more direct than others, it doesn't clear skepticism (for me, at least) until it's followed by something actually being done. Now, if some form of editing is patched in and Madden 14 reintroduces what was left out in 13, some of that trust will be rebuilt. To your point and Bekins credit though, he hung in there pretty well, I agree.

We're veering away from the OP though, and I don't want to make this all about my skepticism. My original point was more in-line with the fact that Moore's words, unlike a developer saying "we're working on it," have some weight with me based on how EA has moved forward in recent years.

Although it is disturbing, I do not think this will become a major thing. As long as EA servers drop and the disconnects occur, EA can't exactly force you to play online unless they can 100% FIX that issue. It is disturbing for me as I only play offline. I also did fantasy drafts offline lol. So yea this def sucks. Especially since my connection drops out sometimes and my franchise mode would be dependent on my internet also.

Random question: I shared a game on facebook just to test it out, I clicked the link and it took me the Origin's page but I wasnt logged in so I logged in. I got a 3 step process on how I didnt have a CC and I need to 1. Buy Madden(which I had) 2. Create an online career 3. Share it. Does the fbook/twitter links only work on online CCs? Like it showed up on my fbook page but I wanted to read the full thing but it would not let me.

I wouldn't care that he wants me online but do fear he will try and force my hand by making developers neglect offline features.

Didn't they learn from the PSN Network disaster? Remember when that was hacked for nearly 2 months? They didn't know what was going on? What happens if a scenario such as that happens? Then we are forced to play the bootleg version of connected careers offline? What if the server freezes up? People are forced to abandon their games when they are tied in the 4th quarter.

Online is online, but it's not 100% stable. Offline is though.

He also said they will replace the features that have been removed either in patches or in future Maddens.

I would take Mr. Moore's comments with a grain of salt. He is not in charge of Madden or EA Sports, anymore, he higher up on EA food chain.

Plus, as Jimmi mentioned, he said basically the same thing a few years ago.
On a minor tangent, having a look through that interview and that's exactly what I'd expect from EA when we asked them questions about why certain things were in/weren't in. Lots of honesty, straightforward answers and an awareness of problems. I strongly urge everyone to give it a read before they launch into one of the tirade threads on OS. For instance, it was nice to see exactly why trades are so hard this year, and a breakdown of the reasoning behind it.

This is what I was asking for a while back in that sprawling GC chat about openness - I know everything can't be said, but these prove why expanding on the "we didn't have time" answer can never be a bad thing.

It's sad that you could probably only do that on a heavily-modded EA board to avoid the trolls, but there we go.

It appears the EA Servers are not functioning and you know what that means - No gaming for the guys with online connected careers. And for those in a game when the servers went - Gone. Game over.

When people pay their money to buy a game and want to play it on their own schedule, they should not have to feel the pressure to hop online because EA wants them to.

That's the beauty of single player. Unless your power goes out you just hop on, start scouting, trading, practicing, playing, etc... and do it at your own pace. Now people who are wanting to play their C.C. have to wait on EA's server, rather than just sit down and play.

For some of the married or busier guys, that has to be frustrating to finally find time in your day to get a game in, but not be able to start because the product you bought won't let you.
That's why those guys are douche bags, I work alot and tweaked my work schedule to play madden RIGHT NOW but I can't because the servers are down!

And what makes it so bad when people voice concerns they come off like they know better for us than we do, like we are children. I am a grown man and I know why off line franchise is important to me. I don't want to have to rely on the Internet working right in order for me to enjoy my game.

Don't take something away and tell me don't worry about this is gonna be better for you if you play the way we think you should play. And then you got the nerve to tell people to play on-line because off-line is bugged but then your servers don't work either.

I'm not even an EA basher but how can people defend this non sense?!?!

Moore is not talking about what is better for you, he is talking about what is better for his company. Server outages suck but they do happen and I am fine with it as long as it is not a consistent issue. And Noone is trying to force anyone to play online, unless we believe that offline ccm was intentionally buggy, which is ridiculous.

Well i am not surprise at all, I mean the DEMO should have answered a few of the important Q's.... I belive they paid heavy ADs they got Ray Lewis running it on NFL Network, NFL.COM, ESPN, The Analyst... I mean just to push everyone to buy the new Roster Update that wait seems not to be working correctly, I.e. the CCM first you load the game disc you get a prompt to download the Connected Careers Update... which is just a few moves and cuts that Donny Moore made prior to launch date.. Cause their default roster are just DISRESPECTFUL case in point DeAngelo Williams is a 71 Ovr fugging give me a break here really Josh Vaugh is rated higher WTH really Donny... But besides those Krazy Inzane ratings to start your CCM with old out dated rosters... Online CCM if for one sec you lose connection your game doesnt auto save...Now the new online rosters update with correct ratings can not be use to play CCM...(Currently) I wonder how appeling is this online feature going to be for those Carolina Panthers fans who have to play with the incorrect colors in the Away Nike Uniforms... Connected 24 hrs to spend extra money on what MUT ?? really dont like this hole ideal at all to force anyone to play online only...I played a CCM season and Steve Smith retired after one season i did not have any options to stop it or offer him more money to stay or nothing it just reads on the twitter feed respect to S.S for going on his own terms.. as this may be a RPG style of play how come i the USER have no control of whats going on , yet i am the coach , commis, player... or it this a scripted Madden version again...Mr moore instead of trying to force people to connect 24hrs to a half made product , do everyone a favor and support blog/Patch the game, already... reach out and explain n make notes of what is going on with your product owe up to your errors , fix them , maybe them you'll just have a more customers equals more sales , more $$$... but since you paid for the lincese theres is noone else to compete with so you do what ever you want... TX EA Tiburon... Madden you should just take your name off this series...

What's funny is Madden hasn't even graced his presence the past 10 years or something.

This is slowly turning into the opposite of Madden. Just call it Tiburon online NFL Football

I can only speak for myself but I refuse to play any console game online. You can look up my PS3 username, same as this one, and you'll see zero games played online over dozens of games played. I hate online play for console games and will never play it. If Madden is truly pushing offline gamers away from the product by offering an inferior franchise mode for offline use then I'll simply stop buying the product.

As usual this is a whole revamped Madden and just likle the previous ones they cant do everything right away so its gonna take time to put stuff in the game thats supposed to be there? TRhis has a long way to go? Why would you take away season mode? Connected careers give me a break?: Fix the issues before putting out a product over 60 bucks? i for one will trade games and get this at a discount not worth the 60 bucks yet

Is Peter Moore that pretentious jackass that made all the NFL players on stage call him "sir" in front of everyone? If he treats his own product like that, the people that are helping put food on his table, then how do you think he's going to treat his target consumers?

Another reason they want everyone playing (or at least being connected) online is so they can force us into upgrading each year. If you need their servers in order to play even a solo franchise, you're now at their mercy. 365 days from now they can shut the '13 servers down and say "if you want to play CCM mode properly, you need to buy '14".

I think a part of the push to get everyone connected is to eliminate the older used games market.
