No. defense is broken. Man and zones. All you have to.do is after the game, go to the recaps and replay some plays. You will see guys making horrible A.I decisions.

Which means defense is impossible to play this year. Really why would you buff the passing game, but leave defense the exact same? Man gets beat by comebacks and deep outs 99% of the time and zone gets beat by every damn thing. Seriously why even play this game online when I know the winner is just going to be that last person with the ball.
Just played a game online vs the ravens no less and had 467 yards passing with freaking Terrelle Pryor.
Zone coverage flat out sucks in this game, and man is easily exploited.

Are you guys serious? No noooo noooooooooo!! Defense does NOT need to be changed. I'm holding guys under 21 pts online with the Raiders! You just gotta make pre snap adjustments. You can't expect to come out in base plays all the time and stop ppl's offense. If you are not making adjustments on D based on your opponents tendencies then you have no idea what you are doing.

All it is is you guys are playing to the exploits of the game because the defense IS broken.
I bet you always show blitz
Play with the free safety from the weak side so you can either stop the run or stop on a dime after the WR darted past you and still be able to recover and make a play
Play with a team of pure speed and cheese all game long running the same plays and routes over and over again.
I have played quite a few games man and I can tell you first hand that seem routes and this lead passing mess is getting out of hand as people are doing this all day long and the run game is basically and "outside" run game, so you are already geared toward that as the inside game is barely even there.
Im pretty sure you do not mix your defenses up, you run the exact samething 99% of the time like most people as your opponents are running the samething aswell. So why even change what you're doing when its working against the cheese your opponent is throwing at you? Only to have him no huddle you to death since you decided to come out in something that helps him out and exploit your defense now!
I played a guy who won the game by making my defenders in cover 4 run in the opposite direction when he passed the ball. My DB that was guarding him in down the sidelines ran out of bounds and my safety drifted off and he was wide open. he did this twice and once was against man under 2. He swears all he did was lead pass top the inside. Im no dummy man, but most people would shrug that off as "skill" and thats not what you have when you do the above.
You're just doing what it takes to get by in the games current state, sometimes my defenders dont even show any type of reaction to my button presses as if its who presses the buttons first is who wins that battle!Comment

I would say get rid of "ballhawk", thats not a skillful way of playing especially in ranked or higher skill level settings.
Its a handicap assist for people who cant play and adequate defense on their own. O cant go out on the field, get burned and be like "damn, let me use my ballhawking life line to make up for that mistake".
See how that sounds, not a good idea bro, defense needs a tuning for real, too many no looking quick passes being made in this game as the defenders do not even react to it.
For the love of whatever you believe in, why did you guys tone down the IE from the game? It was fine the way it was and now it seems like its an animations based game again now with tackles not looking or feeling dynamic.
This is why I bought and praised the game soo much, now it feels like previous madden all over again!Comment

Speaking of no look passes, I don't understand why they had the icons fade out if you can still pass to the receiver and he can still catch the ball. OK I will put this into lame terms for ppl to understand.
I play exclusively with Ravens and exclusively online (ranked, CCM etc) AND Ravens have a certaing Safety called Ed Reed (you probably heard about him. In my 20 plus games Reed did one play ... 1. in all 20 games he never swated the ball did as said 1 interception (on a really lame play) otherwise he is always out of position, ignoring the player going deep, not attacking the ball at all.
If you ppl suggest that is realistic D from a certain Ed Reed we must have been watching a different NFL.

In one game, I have been in where there were 11 interceptions in a 5 minute quarter game. I'm horribly bad at defense and decent at offense. Yet, I had 5 of those interceptions. To me, defense is way too powerful on turnovers right now online user vs user.Comment

There are a lot of turnovers but they aren't due to good defense. Many of the interceptions I've seen are because users will throw the ball into crowds or try to lead a receiver but end up throwing right to the defender. But thats because I user control a safety, I actualy think defense this year is a lil overpowered.
With the way the pass rush is, and the verticals CB's have, its already a turnover fest.

I feel you Smoke6 because as quiet as it is kept, the "throw a receiver open" mechanic, still needs work. I threw a pass over the middle to TE Fred Davis, way too far to his inside right and he was still able to make the adjustment, albeit he did have to stretch. I don't want the mechanic removed, I just want to see a better process play out. There was still that twinge of Davis being aware the ball was being placed inside-right and adjusting his route BEFORE actually having to locate/see the pass. Part of that falls on the player movement but it's also seems to due to receivers still tied to passes.
Maybe the game just has to be programmed the way it is at this point but I have to wonder isn't there some better ways to do things within those confines. For instance, I can throw passes that the intended receiver is clearly not tethered to but when I do, they seem completely oblivious to balls that should be within their line of sight. It seems like a receiver has to be tethered to the ball in order to react to it. I wish we could better understand the limitations in the way Madden is currently programmed so the community can offer suggestions within those confines.Comment

I'm talking about LOS adjustments. You don't even need to audible, you can change a man play into mostly zone if you are quick enough. Also you need to user certain zones to stop big plays, can't expect the AI to do everything. User skills are important. And lastly the ball hawk feature if what they put in to counter the strong passing game....

Actually yes. I would prefer the defense as it was in M12 to what it is now. Again speaking for online. Hopefully those aren't the only two choices though, lol. To what Smoke6 is talking about, I can be User controlling a LB, covering a TE and get beat by a few yards but when the QB throws a pass he should complete or at least be out of reach for me, that "ball hawk" will snatch it, lol. When I first started playing the game, I wouldn't even use it because I just figured the pass was out of reach so I tried to go tackle the intended receiver to prevent YAC or hopefully break up the play. It does seem overpowered now that I have actually used it a few times myself. Also, even on touch passes, that I believe an AI controlled defender would deem untouchable/unreachable, I think the User can intercept using ball hawk.
Again, this theme of User control overriding in-game parameters that the AI is beholden to.Comment
