The problem ain't the physics it ea animations not just madden but ncca too. I mean when was the last time ea put some new animations in. Not catching but takeling and running .
Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???

I still like the physics. They might not be true Real Time Physics but it's still 1000x better than suction tackling from 3+ yards out, seeing the same few tackles and not having ANY impact or interaction with triggered animations. I can't complain, Madden still gets kudos for IE and I'm a huge critic.Comment

With all due respect, you are totally wrong. The physics in this game is so broken, it makes it borderline unplayable because there is no such thing as tackling anymore. 85% of all tackles are collisions when more than one player is involved. I would love for this game to have last year's tackling...I would take that any day. It just isn't realistic to have people running into each other and then falling down
I like his all-pro sliders because on all-madden the computer comeback mode is unstoppable. If I get a lead on all pro I usually can hold it. Also note that tackle sliders are down, that is what helps stop the guys falling down so easilyComment

There is a fix for that. Change your sliders around. Use playmaker's sliders here:

I have to agree with jinc that the collisions are not NFL-like and need to be fine tuned. Much more wrap up type tackles need to be represented. I do like the direction they're going in with the physics engine. I just hope it continues to progress and doesn't regress or get removed in future iterations, as EA is want to do.Comment

That's definitely your opinion then. There's no way I'm going back to the way Madden used to play. All the problems I've had with IE aren't nearly as game altering as the engines before for player interaction. If you actually prefer getting tackled multiple times when you shouldn't due to distance and not have contact matter that's definitely all your opinion then, but I couldn't handle that another year. I'll take some of the cosmetic goof ups that don't typically effect the actual play overall any time. But people run into each other and fall down, I'm not sure how that's not realistic. Many breakaway runs have been halted by ball carriers simply falling or running into someone. It's frustrating, but it's very real.
Ugh you know, I hate how we are even having this conversation. All because of EA's incompetence, or master plan.Comment

I think the animations and physics are better in madden 12 then madden 13. In 13 guys get tackled and their bodies make weird movements and stuff so unnatural. Madden 12 flows better imo.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
I played Backbreaker, I can deal with how little this has happened to me now compared to the physics in that game and how impossible it became to run. I can deal with how it works with Madden until either patched or hopefully next year. I can at least run up the middle more times than fall backwards. It really doesn't happen that often to me, but like I said...I played BB, it was far more common. So once every 3 games or so (which seems to be how often I might see it...maybe less) is not bad for a physics engine like this one.Comment

SpoilerEveryone playing Madden 13 is still playing Madden the way it used to play....it just looks better. I don't want to take any enjoyment from anyone, but the tuning that has been done is simply more scripting to clean things up. (just my opinion)

When the engine respects the human form at least as well as BackBreaker, then I can retract my opinion...it may be hard to run up the middle in BB, but it's also hard to run up the gut in real life. After the GreatHouse#3 patch falling down was reduced greatly, and frankly I like the physics better than Madden (again just my opinion) I think you should give BB another try...I'll play you)
FYI, what your seeing in the video.....never happened in BackBreaker....no shifting at all...weird physics...before the patch hell yeah, after the patch the physics got tighter...dline pressure got nerfed, but there was never any shifting/slidiing to get players into position.

The science is there that makes the sport of football what it is. If i have a free rushing lb in BB thats taking on a fb in the A gap, i can barge the fb and he will either fall back into the hole, clogging it for the hb or even knocking him down. Or the fb will blow up the lb and the hb can scamper. This is football.
I know madden hasnt added physics to anything besides tackling but i dont see something like this ever being possible in madden.
The tackling in BB is far better than madden 13s for the fact that players have weight and momentum matters. In BB if i lower my shoulder 2 yards from the goal line and get caught from behind chaances are im falling into the endzone. The same situation in madden can often lead to my guy having his momentum completely stopped by the tackler.
Dont get me wrong BB has it flaws but most of them are not related to the fundamentals of football.Comment

As annoying as a lot of the problems are in M13 -- I think the game would be so much better if they fixed how players run. Nobody runs like that! I'm sure we'd be hearing far less complaints about the IE if they completely overhauled the look and feel of the way players run with and without the ball.MLB: CHICAGO WHITE SOX
