Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
They had running animations correct in 12 for most players. I mean sometimes it literally looked like I was watching a real game. The run animations in 13 are just wonky looking. Horrible idea to change them.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
I did some screwing around in practice,(offense only)to see if I could figure out why,the RB's fall over when running into linemen.I found that,if I run into anyone other than a linemen,I did not fall, but actually could push them.
This told me that, weight may actually mean something in this game.I ruled out strength because my RB had similar strength to my TE who,did not cause a fall.
So I flipped the ball to a linemen and found that,I could run into other linemen, and rarely fall.Bingo! it's weight...not so fast.
I then created an RB at 300 lb and the usual RB atts, and tested again. This time the results were not quite as good as the linemen test.Better but not as good.Only one thing left here, agility, was the one difference in all tests,so.
I loaded up my roster in the madden editor, and set agility to 50 globally, and went back to testing. What an improvement. That's it,too much of a difference in agility is causing the problem.Another global setting to consider,is to set the 'Big Hitter" Trait to 'No",this takes away the hit stick from everybody, and forces defenders to come up and make a real tackle. No more forearm smashes from safeties knocking your 250 LB TE into the 5th row.
Of course, this all useless in CCM,as it can't be edited, using the madden editor.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
The engine is a step backwards as it operates and looks now. NCAA 13 had the smoothest animations I've ever seen in a football title, going from that to Madden was a sobering transition.
Maybe they can build on it but it sickens me to see players trip over nothing and fall over like they were sniped from the stands.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
Your not alone, I find that it was hyped too much. A good idea at that but it's just looks so unrealistic, for example a WR/DB will go up for a jump ball, contend and most of the time regain balance when falling on the way down. Also every tackle seems like it is a huge hit rather than a technique of tackling.
Another aspect I find annoying is that a player like Brandon Jacobs fails to run over small DB's, so much for taking weight into account of collisions etc.
I just hope they improve this for the next Madden and HOPEFULLY have proper OL/DL interaction and blocking etc.
Unfortunately I prefer M12 to M13.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
I'm not feeling the physics. Honestly I don't really see or "feel" any substantial difference from last years game. The only difference I see is the players collide and fall in illogical ways and wonky ways. The player you're controlling is still laggy and unresponsive to the buttons you push. That hasn't changed in 10 years. Backbreaker is the defacto standard for a physics engine for a football game. Copy that EA and you have something.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
Really enjoy the physics over the old animation system. With change people are always going to try to hold on to old ways. Hope they move forward with it and clean up some issues. It sucks they turned the physics down from the demo version. Honestly I don't really care about what happens after the play is over (bodies getting tangled.) Before the patch 3 stealth edit I saw some tackles that were really amazing.
Not going to bash guys that want all animations like before but hope they move forward with physics engine.Comment

Re: Am I the only one starting to get really FRUSTRATED with this PHYSICS ENGINE???
I look at it this way: for the past several years, Madden fans have begged and pleaded for a physics system. This year, they installed one. It would be completely unrealistic for us to expect them to nail the system 100% (which they haven't), and so for our own sanity, we may as well just enjoy the progress.
Is the physics engine perfect? Far from it. But as someone that has played the game for over a decade, it's the best engine I've experienced by far. It isn't perfect, no, but it's progress. I'd rather focus on the positive than spend all my time with the game seeking out and highlighting the faults. It's just a video game after all.Miami Dolphins | Washington Nationals | Baltimore OriolesComment
