Unfortunately this is spot on. I've said this for years, Madden is no longer a game it is a brand. The brand works, the game not so much, but that doesn't matter because it is secondary in the eyes of EA execs.

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
I am trying so hard to view this game with "rose colored" glasses but man the realistic side of me wants to just tear this effort a new one. Im gonna try and be positive here for a hot second. The visuals look much better (helmets, field, etc.).... The running styles look changed, although I cant say yet if they are changed for the better or worse right now. The "off" arm of Richardson while running just looks funky. Its almost like its in a "straight line sprinters" position. Uh im gonna have to see more. Throwing motions look like they haven't been touched once again, which is kind of upsetting. The marquis players for almost every team in the NFL is the QB. You think they would want to replicate them to the most minute detail. Obviously that's NOT the case. Maybe that's something they will address in later years.
Back to the graphics for a second. The helmets finally look beautiful, BUT why didn't they already look like this? smh
I am still holding out for some unzoomed/non-trailer video of this game but it just looks all too damn familiar man. For a next generation console, short cycle or not, I was expecting SOOOOOOO much more from this game. Where did all the money go? This game generates BIG bucks what was put back in this year?
I think those guys may have been better off taking the year off from next gen and starting from scratch with NEW player models, physics, animations, commentary, and so on. And if it couldn't be done for next year just release a roster update for ps3 and 360, and keep working till the "base" is right.
If this game is going to be the "base" for this generation, I don't know man...It's not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog...XBL GT: Godz HittmanComment

The worst?
Their marketing is fantastic. Look at their product placement. The name is everywhere.
Radio shows, TV shows, live football games....Everyone talks about the game.
No, their marketing plan has been the most successful thing about the game.
People who actually know football see past the marketing scheme but the "Madden fans" (the vast majority of their fanbase) don't care about how football plays out.
Look at the sales of this game, if it weren't for marketing, this game would have died out years ago.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Even if they hired everyone of those guys the game would stay the same. I'm gonna repeat this again. Madden Football is the McDonalds of videogames...They are reliable, people love the fries, they sell over 2 billion every year (exaggeration) and they put very little resources into the product. Madden is EA's cash cow...The McDonalds marketing strategy is working like a charm because while its not the best burger and fry combo it is the most well known and its reliable. From a marketing standpoint they have to be saying...Why would we change?...Particularly when we are the only game in town?...I think its a long term death sentence but as long as they retain NFL rights to the game their strategy is bullet proof.
The Madden name alone sells...meanwhile they are allowing EA Canada to do all the real innovation in Hockey and Soccer which are games that they are really trying to corner the market in. meanwhile madden still rakes in the cash. At the very least I'd like to see them get rid of Tiburon and give the game to EA Canada.
Those VC 2K guys wouldn't last one year on the game because EA would not spend the resources or give them the time to make a product that is different from standard Madden. They would quit...Why do you think we see so much turnover in producers of Madden?...being handcuffed into making a sub par game is not something those guys sign on for...after a year or two they realize there is no chance their ideas will be implemented so they bounce.
Secondly, if the entire dev team of NFL2K were still around, they wouldn't be starting at zero anymore than Vince Zampella, Jason West, and Grant Collier had to start at zero when they left to make TitanFall. I guarantee it plays a lot like Call of Duty whether they were allowed to leave with actual assets or not.
They have already built the thing once, so even if you have to build it over, almost entirely, it will still go much faster the second time."You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Unbelievable. It is time for Madden to be taken down, something needs to happen.
I hope NBA 2k next gen is as good as it looks and people will see how pathetic EA really is.Last edited by BV11; 10-14-2013, 05:46 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Notice the "physics". Everything there looks real and natural. No folding paper bodies, or passes thrown 30 yards while the QB's back is being bent in half. I feel bad for the few guys on the dev team that probably have some real ability. I'd be embarrassed.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
i don't think so at all. Remember it is a gif so you are getting frame jumping and stuttering. The camera is also panning.. and who knows what the game speed was. you can see how they run that is looks a little quick. But even so, i think it looks fantastic. Oh and its 7 years old too.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
I don't play shooters and to be honest I buy consoles soley based on my love and commitment to football games...I play other sports games but Football is the only reason I game at all. So...no matter what you read from me here I'm disgusted at the fact that I really believe there is no hope...Not having hope is a bad place to be. I applaud guys who still have passionate anger and hope...But when you come to the realiztions that I have I will have a warm seat for you here on the NO Hope for Madden Express train to Football purgatory.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
not to go to a 2K football vs Madden football thing but they really could be summed up in 2 words each..
Madden NFL Football = herky jerky vs. NFL2k/APF2k = silky smooth
THE END

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Just the simple example of the 2 outside rushers getting forced by the qb in the 2k video was a thing of beauty. It was a pocket that I see every Sunday. I have never ever seen that in madden.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Looks like current gen with updated uniforms (something that really should have been in the current gen edition anyways). Not impressed.
That being said, as long as they fix most of the CCM bugs I will probably buy it no matter how small the other changes are.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
While I get your point, totally, there is a huge contradiction there. EA would not go to the trouble of hiring the entire NFL2k dev team, to make the same game. What would be the point of that? They could just allow Tiburon to make the same game.
Secondly, if the entire dev team of NFL2K were still around, they wouldn't be starting at zero anymore than Vince Zampella, Jason West, and Grant Collier had to start at zero when they left to make TitanFall. As soon as we are fed up and actually stop buying and posting on forums criticizing their game...There will be a new crop of consumers who are only 7 years old now but they will have 30 years to break them down just like they have done with us.Comment
