Thank you and I completely agree with your analysis as to why I set up that part of the "run game" the way I did. What you wrote was almost my exact thinking when setting the "reaction time" for run defense. My perspective in football is that for every weapon created there is a weapon to counter it, and that is exactly what this is. I believe that I do not need to go any deeper with my perspective on that as you have already gotten it but thanks again and let me know how you like them, peace.

I don't understand,.. Just because u played some Real football help you make the slider set u posted??? Cause if the game is flawed as much as this whole thread claims,.Why bother making sliders or using your real football thoughts,..It a Video Game,..you can not compare it to real NFL,.I don't think Poor EA will ever get a Thanks for spending tons of green back. Well I will answer the first part of your question with a yes, because relative to the way Madden 13 (which I understand also playing Madden for a number of years now) plays I can compare what I know to what happens in the game (video game). That is like saying that not watching football ever will not hurt your ability to make the game, that would be preposterous. So my claim is that me actually having to play on different levels helps my perspective in tweaking (not changing) the game. My thread in particular does not at all state that this game is "flawed". My thread is simply stating that the creators of the game a lot of them have not actually played organized football (to my understanding) to know each and every aspect that is necessary to help create the closest gameplay relative to an actual football game with this one regarding the National Football League. I actually say that they have done a good job but of course it is relative to the fact that they are mostly game designers and for that of course we all are thankful. Now, with all that being said these are my sliders and if anyone has any questions regarding them I will gladly answer them (as I just did) such as why I have chosen the numbers I did, thank you.Comment

Re: Just read and you'll understand...Real NFL...regarding stats..and gameplay..
I have a few questions:
1) How did you choose your special team sliders? I ask because BrianU did a lot of testing and came up with a statistically accurate set, that's different in some areas than yours (and everyone elses as well lol).
2) With user wr catching at 37, aren't there too many drops? Do you still get spectacular animations when appropriate?
3) Slider makers have been picking their brains trying to create an effect cpu running game without super high BT numbers, which it looks like you may have accomplished. How is the cpu running on you?
Again, going to try the set out later today (would've yesterday but I got wrapped up in NHL 13 lol), just wondering is all.Last edited by Jdoug312; 09-09-2012, 01:31 AM.Comment

Re: Just read and you'll understand...Real NFL...regarding stats..and gameplay..
man, no off day till tuesday, looks like I have another set to test out. I played a few years of semi-pro ball in my area.
I agree 100% with the speed threshold set at 0.
We had a few guys who played some college ball, they were quick, however, we played a team from MN/St Paul who had a few guys who spent a year or 2 with the Chargers practice squad, cant remember the names, but who cares.
Anyway, these guys were blazing fast, and they werent cut out for the pros. Made us look stupid.
If the reaction time and run game plays realistic, this may have been a home run(sorry for the baseball analogy)NFL- Green Bay Packers
MLB- Chicago Cubs
NBA- Milwaukee Bucks
NCAA- Wisconsin Badgers

1) You may hear while watching a game that a particular kicker in warm-ups was kicking field goals beyond probably what you have ever seen him do in a game. The reason has everything to do with accuracy. Relative to this game one might think then why don't we just put the kicking power up and lower the accuracy and the reason is simply because the cpu does not operate the same way a user would when attempting to kick field goals. With a human all it takes is skill and concentration and accuracy is not a problem but in reality accuracy has everything to do with power therefore you can only tweak this part of the game so much because there is no separate choice between the user and cpu.
2) I sincerely apologize with regards to the clarity of my sliders. I did not realize that it was possible to misinterpret them based on how I have them set. I put before I listed my sliders that they were in correspondence to how you see it in the settings area of the game meaning it is in order. I will change them so that you and anyone else reading them will understand better. The 37 is in regards to the "ball carry" slider which is the 6th one when you go to "Player Skills", 50 is the appropriate number for catching. I apologize once again.
3) Today I have realized by looking at different post that this is the biggest issue slider makers are having. I have attempted to explain why I have mine set the way I do on their thread with the hopes to solve that problem for them. To answer your question I am getting up and down performances depending on the team I play and dynamic of the specific game (which is how it should be). For example, in the game I just got done playing against the Eagles with the Vikings, Lesean Mccoy had 20 carries for 56 yards with the back up (forgot his name) having 7 carries for only about 15 yards and Michael Vick 9 rushes for 46 in which he also threw for 202 yards on 20 of 29 passes. They lost 25 to 17 because of an interception where Vick threw a pass to Maclin off his back foot, and we scored off a fumble by Vick when he was sacked a several good field position plays Punt Returner Marcus Sherals and Kick Returner Percy Harvin. Another game (which I had to quit early) against the Bears Matt Forte the first play of the game ran a stretch play about 78 yards for a touchdown (that's when I quit lol) which I hope proves to anyone reading this that the cpu is very well capable of breaking one big with the "run game".Comment

I completely agree with his perspective on the "Special Teams" concept as it is more it being statistically accurate than anything is because that is what ultimately (in my opinion) determines field position relative to the gameplay which occurs on special teams.
I do not agree exactly with what he has done with his sliders after his analysis but I will use it as a base for my "Special Teams" sliders, to an extent. I also appreciate you mentioning it as it did result in me checking it out because as I have stated a lot of my perspective is from a player standpoint but him doing the research is better than anything I have came up with thus far, though I did do some research of my own his is more thorough with regards to Special Teams.Comment

Re: Just read and you'll understand...Real NFL...regarding stats..and gameplay..
Played football at the high school and semi-pro level (Wr/Te/S/Lb). The reason I am stating this is because I want anyone who reads this to understand that not only do I understand how the game "Madden" works, but also because I understand football in general. I'll put it simply for example:
-Receivers (Wr/Slot) need to understand to an extent how quarterbacks think
-Tightends (Te) need to understand to an extent how o-linemen think
-Safties (Fs/Ss) need to understand coverage schemes like a cornerback
-Linebackers (Mlb/Olb) need to understand to an extent how d-linemen and halfbacks think
So to an "extent" as I want to put emphasis on that, I do understand the schematics of almost all the positions in football. Now, I also play madden football religiously and adjust the gameplay sliders according to how I know football is played. The team at EA do a pretty decent job but of course most of them are not experienced in playing football and can "only" really go from what they've seen (which is nice but doesn't always equate to realism).
So without further adieu, here are my "Madden 13" gameplay sliders (along with other game tweaks), you are free to ask me questions regarding the tweaks and I will gladly answer them directly, thank you for reading:
In correspondence with what you see in the game
-Gameplay Sliders
Passing:
Accuracy 53
Blocking 35
Catching 50
Rushing:
Broken Tackles 62 (User) 65 (Cpu)
Blocking 51
Fumbles 37 (User) 47 (Cpu)
Pass D:
Reaction Time 49
Interceptions 18
Pass Rushing 86
Rush D:
Reaction Time 48 (User) 90 (Cpu)
Block Shedding 59
Tackling 50
-Special Teams
Field Goal Power: 50
Field Goal Accuracy: 46 (dropped slightly as I was still tweaking this)
Punt Power: 51
Punt Accuracy: 43
Kicking (Kickoffs) Power: 50
-Game Options
Quarter: 15 mins
Accelerated Clock: 18 secs (tweaked down by a sec, knocks number of plays down by about 4)
Camera: Standard
Injury: 52
Fatigue: 54
Game speed: Slow
Player Min Speed Threshold: 0
-Auto Subs
*With these I have carefully looked up the plays which were made by several backup positions for a substitution ratio relative to the NFL. This along with how I know it to be with several Semi-pro leagues, I can honestly say that this is probably the closest someone is going to come to getting the right number of snaps for all of the players on their team (It does vary from team to team but this is an overall ratio of the plays that are split among the players in the NFL).
QB: 50;90
RB: 72;76
WR: 65;70
FB/TE: 80;85
OL: 50;56
DT: 50;56
DE: 64;69
LB: 64;69
CB: 65;70
S: 65;70
Thank you for taking the time out and considering these settings for Madden 13, Let me know what you think of them as I am sure you will enjoy them and as I said I will gladly answer any questions regarding the settings such as why it is I chose the particular numbers I did.family above all...HiiiPowerComment

I have also reviewed BrianU's thread (the one you are referring to) and though I don't agree on most of his sliders and "rules" some of his analysis are dead accurate (such as with the yards per carry concept).
I've heard that most good QBs have to get rid of the ball in under 3 seconds so to me Fast speed plays challenging AND realisitc. I have a feeling that watching the game on TV from a zoomed out camera makes it look much slower than it is down on the field so playing at a faster speed forces you to make quicker decisions and that is replicated well on fast speed. I have also found the CPU to run the ball better and is the main reason I am trying to stick with it.
On the defensive side of the ball it makes it much tougher to stay with the guy you are covering, I use the no switch rule while controlling only the CBs to make things as fair for the CPU as possible and take into account the rest of the players ratings fully (mostly awareness and play recognition.) I feel we have an inherent advantage of being able to see behind the line of scrimmage and instantly tell when they are running the ball so we can react much quicker than our AI teamates and swarm to the ball carrier which if you are using a LB or S lets you stop them unrealistically fast and holds down their YPC. The key to getting a decent YPC out of the CPU is instead of them running for 1-2 yards on those short plays that they get 2-3 yards. Most running plays go for that amount and its the big plays that boost the YPC in the long run i've seen. I have struggled to make tackles or stick with my guy but to me that is realisitc as well I can only imagine how hard it must be to guess the direction a speedy WR is going to turn and have to adjust to his moves I think that is replicated well on fast speed. I like the control over my player on Normal but I like the challenge of Fast and feel it has realistic aspects to it. I know that isn't a popular feeling but its what I am going with. I am trying to strike a balance between challenge and realism which is a hard thing to accomplish.
I welcome you to do some of your own tests as your findings can only help all of us who make sliders and use sliders. I am interested on how you feel about Speed Threshold. I see you are using 0 while I am at 100. Again this was a decision I made balancing between realism and gameplay challenge. It's important to my set is designed for CCM. I don't see if your sliders are CCM or Play Now but those modes play radically different. The CPU running game is so dreadful in CCM that you need to approach sliders different. In Play Now 0 threshold works great and I prefer that but CCM it seems for whatever reason that 100 gives the CPU a better running game. I also think it's harder to turn the corner on outside runs on 100 which I can easily exploit on 0 almost every run and pickup 5+ yards without fail. I play with a lot of house rules but I try to make them as less restrictive as possible and they are setup so I can use the full playbook and as many pres-snap adjustments as possible. I only use features that have a positive or negative impact tied to them if you use them right or wrong.
The special teams sliders are working out good for me. I've never seen anyone use Punt Length 25 yet I found that to be the perfect setting to get 45 yard kicks and 10 yard returns. I think that lots of times people just copy parts of others sets and assume they are accurate I want to keep things within accordance to NFL averages and they guide me more than personal experience or what I watch on TV. Welcome to the club I look forward to your thoughts on sliders and see what you cook up! oh yeah it's the best Sunday of the year !!
EDIT: I made my sliders overly difficult at first and have now begun to scale it back so if you tried them before I suggest trying again they have changed radically every hour almost this weekend lol I am still changing things rapidly trying to find a starting point.Last edited by BrianU; 09-09-2012, 09:11 AM.Comment

Re: Just read and you'll understand...Real NFL...regarding stats..and gameplay..
It still plays on "All Madden". There are a certain number overall (like a point system) that needs to reflected by the addition of all the numbers on the "Player Skills" part of the sliders, and altogether these still keep it on the highest difficulty level as I feel it is appropriate. Not to make the game impossible, because even if you remotely understand football you will be able to use "your" team to its potential, but to allow the computer to remain competitive while still keeping the same realism against the cpu as well as another human.
Thanks for asking

Re: Just read and you'll understand...Real NFL...regarding stats..and gameplay..
The game started out alright even though the Titans(cpu) ran the ball almost every play. Chris Johnson was difficult to stop early on. The second quarter is when things started to get out of hand and the Patriots(me) scored 24. After that, the Titans started to throw the ball a a lot more, but they weren't very effective with it. The Titans only managed 2 or more sustained drives for the entire game and during the second half the Titans run game was shut down. The Patriots couldn't get the running game going all game but passing was easy enough.

The only major problem I had was that the cpu took too many sacks (12 total). The sacks started to come when the Titans were down by double digits and it got worse as the game went along. The Titans weren't able to generate much pressure at all even though they flew to the ball carrier on running plays. Any suggestions on things that I should change. I should also mention that I used the slider set for a play now game.A Little Bit of Luck: Boston Celtics NBA 2K18 MYLEAGUE
