Re: OS Roundtable: The 2K and NFL Are Back Together, What Do You Expect?

This is how I see 2k flourishing. This is my very high standard speculative list of game ideas..

Non-simulation I'm assuming is pretty much using current player likeness and the nfl schedule for the calendar year. Ect ect

If they are able to make an 11-11 game.

I imagine a hybrid of All Pro football
    - legends included
    - a robust and very deep badge/ability system (Bronze- hall of fame )
    - MYTEAM ( create your team of legends with ability to use nfl logos and jerseys.. stadiums?? Rather than created generics

So now you have a card(unlockable) player draft team builder.

2k is HUGE into Historic teams look at the NBA 2k library

So you have matchups like 04 randy moss going up against Atlanta Prime time deion sanders with Indy peyton manning..

So many legendary players and era's.

You hopefully should be able to use NFL history and fan apparel for in game immersion.

Online my team matchups kinda like diamond dynasty and MUT & MyTeam

Then there is the beast of MY player!! Where they could have you go through a very deep robust story mode of building your character up in Hope's to make it to the NFL
Where you have mini games, camps' combines and play a career in an APF style universe

With a spin off like MyCamp (ThePARK)
Where a bunch of other footballers have their players and can decorate them. Give tattoos, run 7-7 or 5-5 pick up games in a football mega park center

Even have weight room for you to build up your guys athleticism.. badge grinding for Mossed badge or hitting the weight room for a edge power rusher..

As football fans it would be similar to nba 2k..

I can only dream they come up with something like this.
Maybe even sprinkle in first person football.

2k has so many tools to make a mega game experience for football whether they incorporated it in 2004,2008 or other games are currently flourishing off of NON sim concepts..

Even a play now with the 1998 packers vs the 2001 Buccaneers would be amazing.

Uniforms and stadiums respective for their times..

    One can hope!!!!

2K football we have prayed for you!

Re: OS Roundtable: The 2K and NFL Are Back Together, What Do You Expect?

I expect a simulation of football and not a simulation of the NFL. Essentially, I expect 2k NFL Ultimate team, and what's great about that is innovation. Without a competitor all these years EA hasn't had the incentive to innovate, but 2k obviously will have to which will force EA's hand. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Honestly though, this is just speculating, but I expect a free to play type my career and my card game whatever it’s called. Basically along the lines of mobile games simply made to take in the cash. The NFL sees how much money that makes, and 2Ks current business practices and wants in. I know it’s a cynical take, but that’s how I feel about 2K and the NFL these days.

I wouldn't call it a challenge. Raising the level of debate is challenging his opinion.

I don't have a problem if CM disagrees with Josh. I'd prefer to have learned what CM felt what game(s) have been better and why. Without any additional information from his one-sentence response, I'm only left to wonder and speculate.

I don't want to derail this thread into a completely different topic. I realize there are other threads for that. So, I'm just going to stop now.

I expect future "potential" competition for both Madden and 2K to make better future Football games which would be a win/win for both the NFL and us consumers.

Exactly. In the madden forum he'd be all over anyone posting that nonsense. Yet he has to find a way to pollute this forum too.

I don't think i'd expect much at this point. I wouldn't even expect 2k21 to be any good. They're getting about a year and half to develop a football game. I don't know if they have an engine or not, but I would guess that it's going to be very bare-bones if they don't.

For me, the beauty of this is NOT knowing what to expect. It's been a LONG time since I've been this excited about the future of football gaming.

I think the sun will go supernova before you see a criticism about Madden that you don't vigorously attack.

I get it though. I'm the same way with my brother's studio's upcoming game (although his game is the physics based one of the two coming to the market this year, so I feel like my bias is justified. Physics >> canned animation)

2K is known for its immense depth so even though it says "non-sim" I am hoping they make a Head Coach/GM game. Maximizing on franchise depth, customization, and presentation.

I have zero interest in arcade football and it would be a waste of 2K's talents. My 2 favorite football games of all-time are by far, 2K5 and NFL Head Coach '09, merge them, update them, and give us franchise geeks the game we've been longing for.
