    I have always viewed Arcade to Sim as a spectrum, not a binary. The ultimate arcade game in my experience was NFL Blitz. Guys catching on fire, WWE moves post play, etc. Tecmo was much more realistic than that....while obviously not being close pure simulation either.

      Agreed. We should not lose sight of the context either. I'm pretty sure Tecmo is as "arcade" as it is at least in part due to the limitations of what was possible in video games at the time. For all I know, it may have been an attempt at making the most realistic football game possible back then.

        I was in college when TSB came out. And while I am sure they weren't going for pure sim, it was SO much better than anything I had seen on a console. It was awesome. Things we take for granted today, but back then it was revolutionary to have licensed teams & players for ALL 28 teams (yeah, just 28 teams back then LOL), the actual schedule & playoff format, stat tracking, etc.
