Looks like it's building off of 2k5's system and going more in depth. It says the patent was filed in 2014 and granted in 2019, so definitely beyond 2k5 or APF 2k8.

Not a computer guy so it’s a lot of gibberish to me. The one diagram showed 11 v 11 play art tho so there’s that at least.

Man this is such an emotional roller coaster for me. I want this game to be everything this community is missing but I’m keeping my expectations low.

I want tiered play calling, a real pocket, great movement, and respected football principles but I wouldn’t be surprised with face paced, over sized players arcade game.

All I have to say, nice!

They will have to get creative to make a practically "useless" license (in 2021) like the "non-simulation" one tenable & profitable.

Obviously, microtransactions & tapping into the casual market will be paramount - whether gamers like the "predatory" nature of them - as well, but they still need to make it an engaging, fun and somewhat "authentic" experience.

Gonna get interesting in here very, very soon (hopefully, LMAO).

Re: 2K Partners with NFLPA to Allow NFL Players in Multiple Football Games

Awesome find with this. I have no clue about what this means but I found this when reading through

"TABLE-US-00005 DEFENSIVE_PLAYCALL_PROFILE (530) userPlacement Does the user move user-controlled defender before snap of ball? userBlitz Did user bring defensive controlled player across line of scrimmage during play? beenCalled Has simulator 120 called this play during playback? formationFlip Did user flip formation? shiftLinemen What type oflinemen shift did simulator 120 do? shiftLinebackers What type oflinebacker shift did simulator 120 do? shiftSecondary What type of secondary shift did simulator 120 do? scramblingQB Was qb on this play a good scrambler (e.g. Vick)? userPlayer Which player does user control prior to the snap? adjustPlayer Which player did simulator 120 make individual adjustments for? individualAdjustment What adjustment does simulator 120 make for individual player? coverBestReceiver Did simulator 120 make adjustment to cover best receiver? formation What formation (index) did simulator 120 call? Play What front (index) did simulator 120 call? coverage What coverage (index) did simulator 120 call? placementX Where user places user-controlled defender relative to ball spot in feet? placementZ Where user places user-controlled defender relative to ball spot in feet?"

So Michael Vick is used as an example. I have no idea what this means exactly but thought someone else might have a better idea. I figured it either means this does relate back to a patent for NFL 2k5 or Michael Vick will be featured in this future game because he wasn't in AP2k8.

EDIT: Ok, I really think this is from NFL 2k5 because didn't they have a feature where you could play yourself or a friend's tendencies? Everything in this relates to the profile of a user and how often they do a lot of different things during a game. I'm pretty sure this is what that is.

What I'm not sure if it's for the new game or if it's just the patents for the old NFL 2k games.
Being able to play against "yourself" was such an underrated feature.

Yeah, the VIP system was such a good feature. Surprised 2k didn't sustain it for NBA 2k .

VIP was broken in 2k8, but in 2k5 it was good. Madden would benefit from a feature like the VIP system. You could go so in depth with the VIP system to account for all the nuances of the game. The ultimate goal would be no two games to feel or be called the same.

2K5 was really ahead of its time. Take this, for example:

My friend and I both had separate franchises on 2K5 that spanned several years each, and he would always chastise that my team didn't have good enough OVR ratings for offense/defense, etc. I contended that it's not about the numbers, but how I use them. For example, my kick returner had speed and didn't need run route or catch abilities, etc.

The fun way to settle the debate of "whose team was better" was by importing our franchise teams and let it play CPU vs. CPU play exhibition games with our V.I.P. profiles loaded against each other. It was our way of combating each other with our play styles and leaving any other factors out of the way.

I can't remember our overall records against each other or anything, but that was all kinds of different and was amazing you could make that much happen!

Think it's just further iteration on prior work, even references a similar 2005 patent. It's 7 years old.

Companies patent everything they can to protect it in some form, used or otherwise.

I used to always envision getting 32 guys...giving each guy a team...and having them emulate what the real team does in real life(play style, play calling, offense and defensive styles) and then uploading them so that we would have each team playing as close to real life as possible. I'm sure that was done...I just wasn't into online stuff back then.

The game kind of already did that. The coaches had profiles for these kinds of things. I don't know how well it was emulated, but if I'm correct this was in play.

As an offline player, I would love V.I.P system. I always want strong A.I. If you really expand it, it gives gameplay Franchise/Seasons mode so much depth. It would be cool to set up VIP profiles to coaches so they would play real life, so it would actually feel like real life. Then assistants would have slightly less.
I wasn't at the maturity to really take advantage of V.I.P , but I would love it now.

That's what threw me off. All of it is 2k5 stuff but the 2019 and 2014 dates makes me think it's something new.

I think it's really reassuring that 2K seems to have been working on football related items in between APF 2K8 and now, so it's not like there's been 0 work toward football since 2K8. Hopefully it means that they have some really interesting ideas up their sleeves for at least one of their upcoming football titles.
