I know this sounds crazy, but what if there is something said if they produce a "generic football game" that they may NEVER get a chance at the NFL again. Maybe that's why Sony cancelled "Road to Glory" last year and never mentioned it again. Midway didn't want the NFL anymore anyway.

Is IT????? How's baseball doing right now?
The best soccer game out there has limited licensing. The NHL 2K series is great for the most part, but still PLAGUED by sloppy glitch after sloppy glitch. There's one good bball title. There's no great football titles being releases (although I think that the last NCAA title qualifies as "good"). If you count wrestling as a sports game, then the announcement that there is no SD! on the PS3 for its first year out is a dissapointment. If you like golf, there hasn't been a great title released in a couple of years. NASCAR games have been taken down a notch. There is no creative generic game out there in any sports, aside from W11.
"Just fine?" OK, if you say so, but I remember other eras when it was doing much, much better.Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment

It's well known that 2K Sports is dreadful in terms of interacting with consumers after a game's release. I think that's what he was referring to.Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment

When the NFL has locked you out for five years, does it really matter if they threaten you for producing a generic football game? If anything, without anyone else able to bid on an exclusive license the NFL has little leverage against EA. That means EA could offer HALF of what they paid for the first five year exclusive -and point out that no other developer is ready to make a football game.
That's why, at the very least, VC/2K Sports needs to have a small team building a next-gen football engine for the 360, Wii, and PS3. Whether they choose to release a generic football game is another matter, but they would at least be ready to make a football game within a year of getting the NFL license back.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I am talking about the past 2 years. The no comment stance is getting old and lead reasonable people to believe all type of rumors. I am still hoping for a new game next year but 2k could have handle this situation better. Consumers still matters.
My best source of info of a potential game is you. I give you credit for asking the tough questions but I believe the consumers deserve better info than no comment response from 2k.
The same way 2k could tell Steve about a non game they could have communicate some hope within their fan base about a potential game.Comment

Like I said (which everyone seems to just ignore) this monster was created by the community, not TT, not VC, not anyone else. I'm glad Aaron decided to comment also. All this VC bashing is just out of hand. Now 2k fans hate EA and VC, lol.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I think the thing is that 2k/TT didn't adequately address the NFL license situation or respond to the fans in the time frame after the announcement was made. I think that they should have done something more to thank their fans for supporting the series, and also address the future of the series in a straight forward manner. So as not to leave the fans hanging and guessing.
One of the things that helped to fuel all of the speculation and rumours throughout the two-year period was the lack of communication from 2k Sports.
I believe that they might have released a statement after the NFL deal but I'm pretty sure it didn't let their fans know whether or not to expect a new game. I think that is a bit of a mistake if they do plan on releasing one. If someone still has that press release I would love to re-read it.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
That's what everybody thinks but no one has presented examples of that ever happening. As I mentioned earlier, when Madden took a year off they had more reason to make a statement. What else ya got?
What everyone is so upset about is unheard of and only seems not only reasonable but expected b/c so many have bitched about it in forums.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
It's well known? Really? Wasn't it the 2k crowd that bragged of how well they responded to the communities' wishes in comparison to EA? Haven't they been quick to come out with patches to fix problems before EA did? I know many VC employees have frequented this site and nfl2kx.com when it was focused on the game, listened and responded while there are nothing but tons of stories about how unapproachable many EA employees are.

MLB 2K5 – Broken features, glitches galore; a game killing issue (passed balls) that some gamer eventually found a fix for. No patch; no response from 2K regarding the passed ball issue or consumer complaints.
NHL 2K6 360 – Glitches; freeze issues. No patch; no response from 2K regarding consumer complaints.
MLB 2K6 360 – Glitches; programming issues; freeze issues. No patch; no response from 2K regarding consumer complaints other than one “finalized” patch for the freeze issue that did not resolve the freeze issue for many gamers.
The criticism directed towards 2K is completely deserving. Hardly out of hand; on the contrary, IMO 2K gets too much of a free ride from people, in the same way Maddenites blindly defend EA.Comment

MLB? What a joke - no help at all from 2K on that title.
Baa7 is on the money in his post. 2K is all well and good with relating with the fans when they want something from them, but will turn a cold shoulder when the fans need help and 2K will not directly benefit from helping them out (well, except for, you know, DEVELOPING GOOD WILL with your fanbase, but honestly, who cares about that?).Last edited by Dondadda; 08-29-2006, 07:52 PM.Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
This is one of the several reasons why we currently sit in a dark era for sports gaming. There isn't a single great multi-sport developer out there right now. It's really all about the "lesser of 2 evils" with 2K Sports. The good thing is that 2K can quickly remedy their problems, while EA is just something that I'm not sure can be fixed without a major restructuring.Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment

The pr of 2k blew off over 1,000,000 consumers over the past 2 years. Fine, say you aren't going to make a new game but this "no comment" stance is a joke. EA lost MLB but didn't miss a beat with a NCAA title. The NCAA title is as generic as you can get. I can't name one college baseball player but I had the game on the first day. Why, because I like the MVP engine. Build a great game and the fans will come. I guess there is a reason why some companies come in 2nd place.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I see your point but lets be real here. If they announce a game next year or next week, you and everyone else on this board will be just as excited and will probably buy the game. Also, you cant expect a company to respond to every rumor that someone starts about a game. I wrote last Nov. that 2K had no plans to release a game in 2006 and other websites have done the same. With the exception of the ill advised posts on their forum by a moderator, 2K hasnt released any info that would lead someone to thinking that they planned to release a game in 2006.
I will also say you have always been a voice of moderation regarding VC next football game but 2 years later consumers can't get a clear answer regarding their future football game.Comment
