Thank you for your pity. My 360 is collecting dust. When the best and most innovative title is Table Tennis then we have problems.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
ya next gen really has not offered anything new. I mean the graphics are ok but I would rather see more depth games then just pretty looks. Perhaps when Mass Effect comes out we will see something new.
I still wont believe anything about a new football game until I see a offical post from 2kPS3 ID Linuxx34 (add me! I need friends)
RDR is GOTY!! 2010!
I miss 2k5 football.

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I have backed 2K football since the Dreamcast days, but I have to admit, Madden 07 on the 360 is not that bad of a game. After you stop comparing it to 2K5, you can have a lot of fun with this years version. Especially if you limit your online experience to your 2K friends. Playing the Madden-ites is the worst possible online experience.
That being said, I really wish 2K would get off their @$$es and make a new football game. There is a market, we have been here for years, now get it done. Each day, each month, each year that goes buy 2K loses more and more customers due to being out of sight, out of mind.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
NFL 2K5 – Programming issues and broken features that never worked from the word go. No patch; no response from 2K regarding consumer complaints.
MLB 2K5 – Broken features, glitches galore; a game killing issue (passed balls) that some gamer eventually found a fix for. No patch; no response from 2K regarding the passed ball issue or consumer complaints.
NHL 2K6 360 – Glitches; freeze issues. No patch; no response from 2K regarding consumer complaints.
MLB 2K6 360 – Glitches; programming issues; freeze issues. No patch; no response from 2K regarding consumer complaints other than one “finalized” patch for the freeze issue that did not resolve the freeze issue for many gamers.
The criticism directed towards 2K is completely deserving. Hardly out of hand; on the contrary, IMO 2K gets too much of a free ride from people, in the same way Maddenites blindly defend EA.
I understand that they are all 2k games (though still doesn't explain the thought they never listen to their fanbase since that's how they got many of their fans. I don't know what's going on behind the doors over at VC or TT but every example you listed is post EA's announcement. I'm sure they've shifted people from one project to the next, turned over every stone, etc. and it could've effected their response which had certainly been a selling point in the past. I do know there was an nba2k6 developer in the forums not only answering questions but getting feedback for problems that were fixed before the 360 version was launched.
Again, all games have problems... reality based games (like all sports games) have problems that are easier to recognize because you have something to compare them to... reality. There were no console patches before VC only a few years ago and now if every possible bug isn't patched by them they have horrible public relations? I believe the only EA patch I can remember was the NCAA save that would've cost them a significant amount of madden sales that year if it wasn't fixed. I agree there are some that cut VC too much slack just like those that cut EA too much slack, but there are also those of you that have unrealistic expectations. We are still talking about videogames here.
What other sports game or game period had an announcement that it wouldn't be coming out?
How many other sports games have released patches to fix bugs (specifically games released in 2005 or earlier)?
How many other sports games have played without any bugs, money plays or glitches either straight out of the box or after of hours of slider adjustments?
It's unreasonable to be disappointed with any particular game or gaming company for not doing something that's either never been done or has rarely been done.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I think it comes down to a business decision. No NFL license means no money (only die hard 2K fans will buy the product) which from a business perspective is crushing. EA getting the NFL license was the killing blow unfortunately. A "real" competetitor would have to have an NFL license too and this isn't going to happen for the next few years.
It's a monopoly and I don't know the legal ins and outs, but in my opinion it's still a monopoly that EA has the license and NOBODY else does.Comment

And with NHL 2K6, no patch was released, period. Tens of thousands of gamers bought either game, only to find they couldn't get the game to work at all. Money down the toilet, in other words. At what point is this sort of thing deemed completely unacceptable?Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
I don't disagree, especially regarding the glitches. But the last two games on the 360 have had severe freeze issues. MLB 2K6 was patched once, but the patch simply didn't work for many. On top of that, they disabled working features in the game, in order to get the patch to work.

If your beef is independant of the claim of a "long history" of ignoring the community then that's cool. My disagreement is with the level some are going to attack VC/TT with statements like this one which is untrue and discredits the reason many of us are upset there isn't a game in the first place.Comment

Re: Stop the Presses: There will be no PFL 2K7
Well like I said, I don't have enough experience with the 360 to argue any points for or against 360 games. I'll take your word for it. I don't need a 360 to know the MLB series needs some help but even though the NHL series has been pretty solid they're both secondary to football and basketball (in terms of games tied to 2k's good name). No matter, I feel you're disgusted with them for this year's line of products. The statement made before (probably not by you but I think you were agreeing with it) was that they have a long history of "dissing" their fanbase. The 360's been out for 2 years... I don't consider that a "long history". I wouldn't point out the semantics there but 2k's fanbase has grown b/c of their attention paid to their fanbase. That may be changing now, and that could be due to the scrambling after losing the NFL license or TT or whatever, but they've still done more for their fans in the not too distant past than any other sports franchise.
