How would you rate 2k8? Review wise.

This is a thread for your personal opinion and rating. Please include full details of why you rated it the score you did. Just as if it was a official review.

    BHS Review!!!

After playing this game over 100hours plus. I've never gotten tired of it. Seems there are only a few things that really bother me about the game, and it has to do with options basically.

Let me begin my review with the bad things first.

First off, the CAP system is horrible. There are no real given options to creating your characters face. Compared to NBA 2k7, and College Hoops. This is a poor attempt. Also the team selection option is simply poor. You can control any cpu created teams. Meaning to play 2-player you would have to create another team. Thats stupid and should be fixed in the next game.

Also no having the option, to fix the rosters on cpu created teams is bad. I hate playing against the firebirds or the beast. And they have the same RB or QB as I have. Sometimes even the same DB and DT, it sucks. Sometimes the cpu will hurt my player in an injury just so both won't play throughout the game. That is poorly done, and we should have an option to change the players around.

240 legends isn't enough, and to have limited CAP options, doesn't give us enough to add all the ones that are missing to fill some rosters.
Plus all-time greats are missing all over the place. Tony Dorsett, Bo Jackson, Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, and many more. That could have easily fill the blanks.

On a good note, the game has a great presentation. It has very solid gameplay, controls on the field offense and defense are remarkable. This is where 2ksports have always been successful.

The stadiums are amazing and the level of detail proves that these are true Current Gen stadiums. This is what we've been waiting for since the Current Gen systems were released and they shine greatly on both systems.

Crowd A.I. and response is good, and they truly react to whats on the field. Refs make good calls! And the cpu on All-Pro level is just rediculous. You will have to earn every down.

Ok! Dan and Peter returns, but with alot of old commentary mixed with new things. Which isn't a bad thing, but isn't a great but could have been alot better. Even though its leagues above anything else that out right now, in Current Gen Football games.

There is no franchise, but the season mode is still pretty nice, and well done. No weekly wrap-ups. But still a great time each game, none the less. Overall its a good game.

This game is a must buy, and has alot of potential, especially being the first in its series.

My rating would be 8/10 can't wait to see whats next to come in 2k9.

Bo Jackson is not in the game because the jerk wanted more money.

How much time do you think 2K\VC had to come up with this game?

On the 240 limit, do you think this was 2K's self-imposed limit? If so, you are mistaken.

      BTW: Go Flower Mound Jaguars!

          6/10...

          - bored, you can only play so much with the same guys

          - can only play with the team I choose

          - tired of created and modifying teams...etc...

          - control scheme pisses me off

          - playbooks suck

          - line and coverage shifts are not even fun when playing hum vs hum.

          - Game might have the atomsphere but other than that NCAA plays better.

The game is new and I approached it as such but I just wanna play. This isn't a pick up and play game, this is a pick up, create, modify, check, double check, modify again, so on and so forth. Get this crap outta here!!!

Sorry to hear those thoughts, especially when quite a few are unfounded. Like playbook issue, you can create your playbook? So where's the limitation? Or does it 'suck' because you don't feel like creating your own playbook.

Sounds like you want a game following someone else's standard. It's a concept game, not NCAA, or the next one. Think outside the box a little. Otherwise, you're right, it's not for you.

I have played every football game since the Genesis Joe Montana Football. This is the most realistic football game ever... with the best atmosphere and the most fun!

I stated I approached the game as it being new, I never played 2k5, so I thought this was a good thing. Although, I'm tired of creating things, playbooks, teams, audibles, celebrations...etc.

I can understand that there are so many things to do on the game, not everyone wants to fiddle with the damn game a whole hour b4 even playing.

Even if I did create a playbook, I would probably would tap LT (coachs pick) numerous times for a play because its faster for me.

Then just go back to Madden and be done with it.

                      7.5.

I love the game and it has renewed my interest in online football again. However, it wouldn't be subjective if i didn't rate it with its faults in mind.

Where did I state that I played Madden?

                        Quit it.

I suggest everyone back off on your replies to TruPlaya. He may not like the game, and has his reasons, but thats no reason to chase him away.

His opinion, whether good or bad, is allowed here. so learn to deal with it.

while the gameplay is great, there is absolutely nothing to bring me back to it, and thats why im struggling with it. I dont play online by choice, so I try to play this in offline mode, and it is sorely lacking in that regard. I have never been more excited about a game before, but the night it dropped, I played 2 games and was back to playing winning eleven for the rest of the night. Theres just nothing there that makes me want to choose it over another game, and I think it is becuase I have no reason to. The season mode is very weak, there is no franchise, and the generic players are just too generic. I want to love this game, but in the end, i just dont see its staying power with the lack of any type of progression. I appluad 2k for trying, and im a huge 2k fan boy and I wont deny that, but I think they need to re-evaluate the needs of the players. The legends are too powerful, and I find myslef constantly looking just for them to make the big plays. I think I would have been happier with all generic players and a franchise then playing with Marino and Walter. so, for me, i would give it a 7/10, with replay value at about 5/10.
