Was just thinking about popping this game back in. Can't bring myself to play Madden anymore.
This game is still unreal!

Re: This game is still unreal!
Six year old game and I just heard some new commentary from the booth. Pretty amazing how timeless this game is.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
I would buy this at near full price if it was ported to the xb1. This was my favorite football game of all time.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
Agreed. I wish they would create a next gen version with a fictional league with customization and a full fledged online/offline franchise mode. They could even just port the 2k5 modes over and enhance the graphics and animations even more and this would be my football game of choice for the foreseeable future.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
I want a new 2k football game so bad. Never cared about using legends, I just want it customisable with realistic animations and ability-based. I play in a semi pro league and always thought that setting would make for a perfect football game. There is always a story line every season. We move up or down a division. Players drank themselves out of shape in the offseason. A player argues with a coach and quits.
The customization would be so fun cuz there are so many "stunters" in these leagues. I play with one kid that actually wears a deoin sanders neckband along with his arm and leg bands. He has tribals covering both arms. And he absolutely SUCKS lol.
There woukd be so many possibilities. I think about this stuff all damn day.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
I dont think anyone is really left to sign, after madden picked up those legends for ultimate team... a proper arena league game would be sick.
Dont know why nobody tried a high school game... every year I was in high school, I would create my whole hs team in 2k or madden. I cared more about those created players than I did about the pros.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
A year or two after All-Pro Football 2K8 came out, EA Sports signed a licensing agreement with the NFL Hall of Fame that gave EA the exclusive rights to use Hall of Fame players in videogames. That's how they got 150 NFL legends into Madden 10, including guys like Johnny Unitas and Willie Brown who had previously appeared in APF 2K8. That licensing deal is still ongoing.Last edited by jyoung; 08-25-2014, 12:22 PM.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs. Outside of basketball and soccer, there's no options anymore for sports gamers. I'm glad I was able to live through the PSOne/PS2 days where you had multiple titles for each sport to choose from.Currently Playing:

Re: This game is still unreal!
Those days were just so exciting too. All the hype leading up to release, both companies trying to one up each other. Lived and died with whatever publication or website had even a shred of news.
Now, the disease of exclusivity has demolished the whole sports gaming landscape. 10 years ago this year, we were in the midst of the greatest year of football video gaming. Heck, across the board sports games were firing on all cylinders. It's amazing how much has changed. Hell, NCAA sports games do not even exist anymore. I know that's due to the whole amateur thing, but it's crazy how spoiled we were and now how bare the sports video game landscape is.
RIP to an era.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: This game is still unreal!
Now, as an adult, I poop disposable income yet the sports game genre is lacking so much it doesn't even make the purchase worth it. It's so depressing to the point I hooked up my old Genesis - which only outputs in black & white, mind you - to play Tecmo Super Bowl and feel what fun gameplay was. Do you know how hard it is to play Raiders vs Cowboys when both teams are in black and white?!??!
Too bad I can't buy a friggin' time machine and just go back.Comment

Re: This game is still unreal!
Same here. I remember being young and poor, scraping and saving to try to get a new console within the first year or two of release, then saving just to afford one new football game a year. I'd check all the sites, magazines, etc for news about who's better. I'd hit up message boards and soak in everything I could. Then, I'd agonize for weeks about which company would get my business that season.
