I just finished both the Name and Photo index notepad documents and re-installed V3.0.0.30. I deleted the Name and Photo index's in the config files and pasted the two that I just finished.

I opened my roster2K5 file and no problems whatsoever. I went to FA and all five punters are there as they should be.

All the UNK's have been eliminated as has the celebs. The double PBP names have been removed as well along with Austin and Thompson. The Photos have all remained intact except for Stephen Neal, the UNK's and the celebs as they were all deleted. Also, those three players who had their last names legally changed were edited so that when you edit their last name, their respective photos will match.

I posted both files if you want to look them over or see why they work in V3.0.0.30 but not in V3.0.1.1.

Anyway, thanks for helping me FINN. I'm a picky pain in the *** but I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

The reason the new version doesn't work with your name files is because of the reasons I mentioned in the post about deleting entries. You have players pointing to entries that you deleted (hence the Index Out of Bounds error). The reason you don't get the error in the older versions of the editor is because we were not showing PBP and Photo in the player grid in those versions but we are now.

Double Click Brian Allen (RB) in the free agents in the old version, you will see no PBP shows. It is because he is pointing to a index you deleted. The player grid doesn't handle this exception because it always expects values to be set. I will add addition error handling to show ERROR: Unknown Index in the grid when it encounters PBP or Photo indexes it can't find in the config files.

However, I still recommend you don't delete entries in the config files since you may never be able to correctly use someone elses files in the editor.

EDIT: Also, John Gilmore's index listing should be changed to 4048. Thanks.

Thanks for this, I actually had to go and check these out.

Your right about Thompson and Brandon Moore. I just assumed Gilmore was correct, they even have the wrong pic.

But the Austin pbp is said when I just did a quick game with the Cowboys.

I'll fix my index when I get off work in the morning.

The Thompson PBP sounds like Thomason to me which is why I changed it. You can easily hear the difference between Thomason and Lamont Thompson for example.

Both Moore pics are correct. The PBP for Moore on SF was never said. I hated that but luckily, there's another Moore that actually has his PBP name said in-game. Kind of messed up that VC would have the PBP work for an OG but not a LB.

I did a search on Gilmore on NFL.com because I wanted to verify the photo that was in 2K5. I also played a game with CHI and used him as the KR so I could see if his PBP was said. It wasnt. Then, you or someone else posted Gilmore, so I checked it out and it was the correct one. I just edited the index number so it would work.

The Austin PBP worked? Huh? I'm going to have to test that out again because it never worked for me since day one. I can verify that the PBP name of Matt Austin worked as I clicked the last name only box.

And on a side not, I tested out the Mike Landry last name only PBP and it works as well which makes me happy. Now, both Landry's can have their last name said in-game.

Thanks for the update FINN. I knew the reason I was getting the error was because of the index files but the funny thing is that even without deleting anything and just adding some full name PBP's, I still received that error. I added in 12 players in the Name Index file and left everything else the way you had it but I still got that damn error message.

I know about the "blank" PBP and/or photo in the older versions of the editor. By player grid, you mean the main screen where you can scroll to the right and see attributes, equipment, etc., correct? If so, I must admit that I never would have figured out that was related or causing the problem.

No disrespect to others but im not concerned about being able to view other people's rosters in your editor. I do check out other rosters but only in-game. The only time that I will put someone else's roster in your editor is to see if there's a player in that roster that I didnt see or missed in-game. And by the way, it's long overdue but I love the search feature. I was always hoping that would have been in an actual football game. Going back to Tecmo, I hated always looking for players to complete my roster.

Anyway, I see that you posted an updated version of your editor. Will the two notepad files that I posted earlier work in the new version or will I still get that error message?

            Thanks FINN.

I was thinking about just creating a microsoft word document and just going back and forth.I know it might take longer, but it wouldn't mess up would it?

hehe I'm glad I looked in this page cuz I wanna try out the new Raiders with Russell and McFadden

I wouldn't delete any names unless you're sure that the ones you are deleting are not link to any players in your roster or you will get that -1 error when you open it in the editor.
