I'm only three games in, haven't touched franchise, but so far, so good with the big M. I haven't gotten used to the controls, so I suck, but I have seen some cool stuff, evn during my suckatude period.

I absolutely love 2K5. I regularly tell anyone who will listen about the gem that is NFL 2K5. The game is just fun to play. That being said, M10 has seriously closed the gap on it. I think M10 plays a damn fine game of football with some slider tweaking, and I wish people wouldn't jump the gun on stuff like the flats being broken, or bad run/pass blocking. Stuff like this can be fixed with sliders or patches, but I agree that M10 should play better out of the box. I don't blame people for not wanting to wait for EA to fix something that should've been done before it hit retail, but M10 is good and has tons of potential to improve. IMO. M10 is the new champ.

I had a thorough write-up until I got kicked off as not logged in when I submitted reply but;

i'll just give the 'edges' right now after playing about 10 games of Madden '10;

2k5-presentation,running game

Madden-graphics,passing game,franchise

tie-defense

The only things I find really annoying is the challenge system and fight for fumble.

I'll go more in-depth soon.

I agree with this top down comparison. I agree on every point.

I did turn fight for the fumble off as well.

After playing Madden and then going back to 2k it really makes the bad aspects stand out. For example receivers dropping balls before it never bothered me but now it did.

I think I am to the point to trying using large att's in the catching area. I used it for route running and others but if this helps I will use it.

For both you guys, I suggest manually catching the ball as opposed to letting the CPU do it. The main time I'll have drops are on deep lobbed passes and when I go to catch the ball, it hits the receivers hands but im guessing its me not being where the marker is on the field to catch the ball.

Overall, its rare for me to have dropped passes that werent my fault. You guys just need to back to "basic training". LOL.

I am going to give that a shot. As for Madden not being able to throw the ball down the field to your WR's is the one thing that bothers me. I hate how defenders have a quick burst and either cut off an out route or stop almost any route other than a short crossing route.

You can throw down the field Jsou, just use manual catches or sometimes press Y right before the ball comes down and he'll reach for it.

Passing game isn't broken, just take's a lot to use to...I'm around 11 games in and I'm loving Madden NFL 10.

I can finally put 2k5 to rest, presentation in M10 needs a few additions but it's not terrible but could be better. 2k5's presentation, especially on weekly or nightly wrap ups are still superior.

Overall Madden 10 gets the trophy for best on field action and overall options.

On the deep ball in M10...I've been reading on the Madden forums on this subject that it helps if you push up on the L stick just as you press the receiver button to throw. I didn't get to play last night to try that out myself, but will do so tonight.

I'll try that, I rented it with a free rental and debated the whole time whether or I should buy it or not. The one thing madden made me realize is that I liked the game speed it had. So I decided to convert my 2k game using the slow speed setting but using a max speed of 115 which translates into around a 4.28 in actual game play on the field. Since doing this the game has opened up a ton. I still think I might get Madden but I want to finish my 2010 rosters before. thanks for the info, oh yeah the other bug thing is the player control in 2k you can cut on a dime and All Madden next gen players seem like momentum is overdone, you can't stop or really move quick enough to cover a WR. Other than that I like the game.
