Personally, I almost like that more guys have 4000 yards. In video games, we all know that we can pile on the yardage to pad whatever stats we want. Piling on 4000+ is a bit tougher if you're also trying to get 1000+ for your back.

I would rather be in a dogfight for 2nd, 3rd, or whatever, instead of way out front (or way at the bottom).

What gets me is the tackles. Why can't they just lower the "realistic" number of tackles in sim stats? There is no way I'm getting 17 tackles a game with a regular defender on a non-15 minute game (which, if going 15 mins, would throw the offense completely off).

I am SO glad I'm not the only one seeing this issue with the whole 'tackles' thing! Been trying to figure out a way to negate those effects in the other sticky about sliders and all. Haven't heard anything since. Everything else is just fine for me, to be honest with you. Just those outrageous tackles, 18 tackles in a single game...rough estimates of high 200+ totals for a single player by the time the season ends. I can understand the 100-150s and all (Urlacher, Edwards for example) but my weekly prime time players are those CPU teams with guys averaging outrageously high numbers on defense...

good question. maybe VC spends the majority of their time fine tuning the gameplay and making it play well while ea just sits on their asses with the same *** **** engine and gameplay flaws each year and that gives them time to fine tune the sim engine.

I am being serious with the above. However, I am in agreement with wishing sim'ed stats are on the level. I mean I am not one of those guys who has a stroke if a player has an incredible year statisitcally (look at warner in 99, wtf would have thought that and that was REAL LIFE) but when there are a bundle of players doing something that is very rare then I have to raise my eye. Having that many guys throw for 4000 yards raises my eye but the real thing to raise my eye is the tackle stats in that screenie Steve-o posted. That is a lot of tackles to have in a season for that many guys.

Bummer but hey, if the gameplay is great then I can let this stat thing slide but would prefer it to be fixed in next year's version.

I wonder if there where any major injuries to some of the leagues top defensive units? I simmed a season with the Raiders just so I can see who will reitre (ok I am a cheater) and C.Woodson, and P.Buchannon where both hurt. My team gave up a lot of yards through the air.

Hahaha that's got to be the stupidest BLIND loving statement I've seen in about a day. There were a few yesturday.

This has beena problem since the Dreamcast...the FREAKING Dreamcast. Talk about sitting on your ***.

As for Madden's gameplay, I hate to say it but it's not all bad. I mean after playing ESPN this afternoon, Madden still holds it own. It might not be everyone's play style but you will get your money out of madden.

Back to ESPN. This is the same engine as last year with many many tweaks. I still think the the sim engine is entrenched in the programming and if they started to mess around with that then the "house of cards fall".

Anyway this is a game killer for me. Bad stats has always killed games for me. I just don't like to play a game where I know that my games are in a seperate universe than the simmed stats. It doesn't make it fun when Jake Plummer has a great year only to be 25th in the league becuase of bad simmed stats. On the other note it's much more involving of a game if the simmed stats where good. This was the case for NCAA, where it was fun trying to rack up the stats to get a Heisman or something.

Give credit to where credit is due EA Sports has good simmed stats and ESPN doesn't. Beyond that the two games are still like two different football titles.
