I need help playing defense online. I actually learned how to do a very respectable job containing the run. Running backs don't usually bust long runs outside anymore. That said, I can't stop people from the constant 6, 7, or 8 yard runs up the middle....no matter what I do. If I pull all my lineman in, they can still punch it up the middle. I can pull my lineman in, call a zone defense that isn't very deep, and take control of my free safety to really bunch it up inside yet I still am getting killed by people who know how to use their power moves. I don't think there's anyway to contain a person who understand how to use his power moves when I have a team like the Lions. I played someone yesterday who was using the Steelers and he only passed 3 times in the game and the rest of the time he ran straight dive plays. He only punted once and it was because of a penalty. There's no way I can stop a team from getting 10 yards in 3 tries if they run it up the middle. I can stop them to the outside running but once people figure out that I have nothing up the middle, it's pretty much over for me even though I know they are going to run the same play 20 times in a row.

try controlling a DT if yours aren't hitting the hb by the time he makes it to the LOS. if you can at least slow him down at the LOS with your DT then you'll have a really good chance to stop him. also try playing a zone defense where your MLB drops deep to cover a zone and your safeties pinch up, that way you'll get faster reactions from your safeties.XBOX LIVE: ST6 RawkerComment

Can you tell me the names of some of these zone defenses? and are you running these zones from the 4-3?
Thanks

Re: Guide to better Defense!
one of them is in 4-3, the MLB drops to a deep zone straight back, but i don't know the names sorry i'm bad with names. there is one in the nickle but the 4-3 one is a little more balanced or cemetrical opposed to the one in nickle.
i usually do a hot audible with the 4-3 one and then use it with a nickle set, making sure my OLB is on the smaller side of the field. That way i have the speed in the open field.XBOX LIVE: ST6 RawkerComment
