that's interesting. How do you keep you're interests peaked in all 3 games. I've played them all & like them all, it's hard to go wrong these days, but when I have found my favorite I push forward with it & let the others kick it with my DVD collection.

      I'd agree here.

Some people have realized that choosing a football videogame is not the same as choosing a religion. We realize that we're not swearing at the altar of everlasting love, we're just putting a DVD in a game console.

My "objective" opinion? You can't go wrong with Madden, ESPN, or NCAA. If you can't get some enjoyment out of these games, it's because you're trying to compare them to some idealized Holy Grail of gaming. They are all excellent games, and all offer something different.

If you want something different go for ESPN but both games are excellent. Madden is a little better IMO but you really cant wrong with either game.

If you are more interested in asthetics and the NFL atmosphere then ESPN is for you. If you're looking for more nitty gritty and solid stats then Madden. Either way you should rent them both first and play the hell out of 'em and make your own decision.

Well, from what I've read, in terms of gameplay, Madden is about the same. So, I have a pretty good idea of what Madden will be like. I am not really interested in the new Owner Mode, so that doesn't really excite me too much. Basically, what I am interested in is authentic, challenging gameplay, or as authentic and challeging as a video game can get. I like to track stats, like most fans do, but I am not a huge "numbers guy". I want something new, refreshing, diffrent - that I won't master in the first three games. Is ESPN even close to being that type of game?

                              Re: Quick Question

I've liked Madden progressively less after each version that has come out for the Xbox. I'm just a sucker for new games when they hit the shelves, so I bought Madden for a pro game knowing that ESPN was a month away. I knew from the moment I played the first game that it was getting traded in. I'm not a HUGE franchise fan, so owner mode was not a gamebreaker for me. The problem I had with Madden was the gameplay. Everything I LOVED in NCAA 2004 was NOT in Madden, the receivers looking back for the passes and especially the kick coverage. Just like every other version of Madden, the CPU is right on top of you as you catch the ball on punts and your guys just stand there not blocking.

There's not really anything bad about Madden, i'm just tired of the same ol same ol and it became really boring for me. Like I said, Owner mode was not something i care enough about to get me to keep the game.

The only really innovative thing I liked was the Accelerated play clock. FINALLY somebody thought to put that in there and get it right.
