I've liked Madden progressively less after each version that has come out for the Xbox. I'm just a sucker for new games when they hit the shelves, so I bought Madden for a pro game knowing that ESPN was a month away. I knew from the moment I played the first game that it was getting traded in. I'm not a HUGE franchise fan, so owner mode was not a gamebreaker for me. The problem I had with Madden was the gameplay. Everything I LOVED in NCAA 2004 was NOT in Madden, the receivers looking back for the passes and especially the kick coverage. Just like every other version of Madden, the CPU is right on top of you as you catch the ball on punts and your guys just stand there not blocking.

There's not really anything bad about Madden, i'm just tired of the same ol same ol and it became really boring for me. Like I said, Owner mode was not something i care enough about to get me to keep the game.

The only really innovative thing I liked was the Accelerated play clock. FINALLY somebody thought to put that in there and get it right.

TopDog, I am in the same boat you were - I think I am bored with the Madden Franchise and can't stand the thought of playing the same game, again. I've read enough positive things on this board about ESPN to give it a shot. I know it's not perfect, but no game is and it will be a welcome change. I will read all the "strategy" and "hint" post to get up to speed on what you guys have learned, that way I won't post any repetitive topics like this one. Thanks to all for your input.

TopDog, I am in the same boat you were - I think I am bored with the Madden Franchise and can't stand the thought of playing the same game, again. I've read enough positive things on this board about ESPN to give it a shot. I know it's not perfect, but no game is and it will be a welcome change. I will read all the "strategy" and "hint" post to get up to speed on what you guys have learned, that way I won't post any repetitive topics like this one. Thanks to all for your input.
