NFL2k5: Anybody Want 'Switch To Blocker' Option This Year?

    Hey NFL2kers!

This may have been a post I started last year for NFL2k4. I don't remember. This one is intended for NFL2k5.

I want the ability to control ANY offensive player at ANY time. NFL2k4 currently does not allow us this freedom. You are always forced to control the QB at the snap, and then you are either one of three positions at all times:

     1) QB
    2) The receiver of a pass.
     3) The runner of the ball.

    WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BLOCKING?!?

I really want NFL2k5 to offer a 'Switch To Blocker' option. Basically, you can cycle through control of any player on your offense before the snap of the ball. If you push 'A' (Xbox reference here.) the QB snaps the ball and you stay at your current position. While the play is going, you have two options:

     1) Push a button to control the ball carrier (including the QB) or the intended receiver of a pass. (Not just a Wide Receiver, but any position that is going to attempt a catch.)

    2) Push a different button, and you now control the closest player to the ball.

Of course you could avoid these options all together and just control your current man for the duration of the play. Here are the benefits for this feature:

    1) It adds more strategy, variety and fun to the game. Now, instead of just going down because you have two LBs spying on you, ready to take you down, you can switch control to a Right Tackle, knock one of them down, switch again and block the other LB. Your Running Back is now sprinting to the endzone because of your quick thinking and execution.

    2) It eliminates some repetitive poor AI blocking. Let's say you are the QB. You know if you can just get that extra half-second of pocket time, you could hit Moss for the 76 yard TD. Problem is, your Right Guard is not doing his job. With 'Switch To Blocker', you now control that Right Guard and make him block like he is supposed to. Your QB sets, fires and completes it to Moss at the opponent's 31. There are two Safeties waiting for him. You know he can shake the first one. It is that second one that is going to be a problem. You see that you have another Receiver in the vicinity of Moss. You switch control to that Receiver (Player closest to the ball.) and tie up the remaining Safety. TOUCHDOWN…VIKINGS!!!

I see this as being a very valuable feature if you can use it correctly. I feel so restricted on offense with the current game. I can control whoever I want on defense, so why not offense?

What is your take NFL2kers? Vote below so maybe Sega will hear us!

I like oline play, even playing some of a single player game, given the chance.

Maybe not the entire game, but for sure I would like to get some reps in.

This would be a perfect option for For Person Football.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Seattle Seahawks - Seattle Mariners - Jacksonville Sharks - Oklahoma City Thunder - Florida Gators
