Re: NFL 2K5: A Present-Day Take On An All-Time Classic

Hey guys I have a question? How do you fix the freeze glitch on franchise mode, its a common problem. I was in my second season on week 12 and my game keeps freezing after kickoff. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

I use to only purchase the 2k games over Madden. Personally always thought they were better
      Madden 16
      The Red Zone

Better DB awareness, inside run game, better formed pocket, and more bullet passes. Probably better drafting AI in franchise as well.

I though 2K5 was the overall superior game though. Maybe it's because I went from 2K4 on PS2 to Xbox on 2K5 so the graphics also had their big jump, but I just thought 2K5 was so stellar in every facet, minus some of those gameplay quirks.

This is my 2nd favorite game ever, only behind GTA: SA. Both of those games are the only reason I still have my 360. I got tired of waiting for yearly updates, so now I'm using my roster of mainly made up players, though I didn't change the names of every player to avoid freezing in franchise mode. Al Bundy at rb for the Bears is my personal favorite, and the game is still fun no matter who the players are.

I've always watched 2K5 more than I've played it since I like cpu vs cpu so much, and it's fun to see my ratings actually matter on the field.

I've edited 2k from day one many of the gripes in this article have been worked out with later coaching, roster and slider editing, no way would you tear through the defense playing my rosters with my sliders.I will say though its based on expert players you cant just come up to the line and wing it you have to read the defence and use audibles.

Please post a link to your sliders. Or simply post them here. I personally bought an xbox360 slim about a year ago just to play this game. I don't have any other game for the xbox360 except NFL2k5.

The game never functioned properly without a good marriage of properly edited rosters and matching sliders. Even then some of the glitches were seen, primarily the DB slow down in coverage. Having said that it was still typically a great human vs. cpu experience and person to person, when you got in with the right (sim-minded) crowd.

Care to further elaborate on why sliders were needed? I have never felt the need to fiddle with slider sets for any sports game. I simply go with default, once in a while maybe changing time per quarter but that's practically it.

I've had very enjoyable games with the CPU with the default out of the box slider set.

On the defaults with stock rosters, the biggest issue I remember was the game being an interception-fest - the CPU QB's made some truly awful decisions on throwing into coverage.

I had a lot of fun with the game too - and APF (which pretty much eliminated said QB issues). But you really did need the edited rosters to really bring out the full potential of the game, IMO.

Wow, since 2K3 (of any sport) I haven't been able to play a game without sliders. It's like watching an uncalibrated TV... hell, it's like leaving the house without attending to your hygienic needs. The world opens up for you when fine-tuned to perfection.

To attempt getting realistic gameplay and game stats (though it never produced that AND simmed stats; you had one or the other).

I prefer 2K5 as an overall game, but I definitely noticed that 2K4 has better qb ai. For some odd reason in 2K5 the qbs are in a hurry to throw the football(no matter who the qb is, 3 seconds max) even when they have time in the pocket, or often throw into double/triple coverage...which the announcers will then mention. Scrambling qbs take off more in 2K4 too, which I like.

As much as I love 2K5, I understand why some prefer 2K4, it's a bad flaw in an otherwise great game.
