Re: Can we make our own game?
These other sites so far are not the same as the game I'm envisioning. Of course that may be because my vision isn't possible. But the "feel" of the game would be completely different than that truesims one above. that just looks too analytical/formulaic too me.
I'm really just beginning to think this idea in my head is just far too big
I think you can do this if you have enough heart, motivation, and determination.Fan of... Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit Pistons

Re: Can we make our own game?
I think what I'm going to put down my concepts in a thread in M13 and just hopefully, if the concepts are good, we'll see them in Madden eventually...hopefully. But by putting the ideas in a forum, I lose any rights to them since this is public domain, but realistically, the resources are at EA. I still believe the NFL license is not an issue, because if the game was good enough, you don't need the NFL license.
Anyway, just though I'd let you guys know. And at least you'll know now what my concepts wereI'll link the thread here whenever I do write it.

The resources are out there. So many people graduate with degrees in computer programming and graphic design for example. You could assemble a fresh team probably pretty easily if you pursued it. The Kickstarter could get you the funding for your team of programmers and such.Fan of... Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit Pistons

I honestly doubt they will ever be used in Madden. Those guys do what they want over there. I am not sure they listen to their fans.

But hey, every other post in this thread says some or all of this project should be easy, so I look forward to playing this game!
Just interesting you've gone from "they put [editing] into the game for people who were complaining constantly" to EA doesn't listen.

I'd like to hear from you guys as this was pretty much the basis for the game I wanted to create.Comment

Re: Can we make our own game?
You must have missed the 3 Madden patches, the 100+ franchise additions last year, etc.

EA won't make a bunch of changes to a game based on a popular thread on these boards alone though. On top of that they won't redo it from complete scratch at this point either.
Plus based on this thread he wants a 2 disc set and EA won't do that for the price they charge now. Either it all is on one disc or they charge extra for the extra disc if they need to.
EA will be driven to change and improve a lot drastically when they have direct competition. Football games were at their best when they were all competing to be the best.Fan of... Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit Pistons

Re: Can we make our own game?
I didn't mean they don't take suggestions on ways to improve their games. They added a lot of things by way of patch to 2013's game and already know where they want to take the game the next couple of years. Its been discussed countless times on these boards even.

I'd be happy to see a PC version as the graphics could really be a lot better than what they are on console and it would open the game to mods.
Also anything posted publicly EA cannot copyright, so any ideas they get from this thread or any where online they can make money off of but so can other companies.Comment

Re: Can we make our own game?
im currently a sophomore and a comp science major, leaning towards becoming a software engineer (different then video game developer)
right know i only know java and a bit of C++. so im not qualified to make any games atm. I might take game design as a programming elective next semester, i heard 2 kids got their games published last year, so it is intruiging.
i want to have a GM-football game that is both text-based (gameplay) and have real animations off the football field.
1. Have an office like the first head coach, except you're the GM. You choose the HC and can reccomend OCs/DCs, positional coaches to the HC, but he makes the final call.
2. Instead of NFL head coach 09 in which you are the head coach and can pick your philosphies such as Cover 2 tampa Defense and a west coast offense, YOU HIRE THE COACH whose scheme you want to run
This makes it more challenging because if the coaching market is weak and the best coach available doesnt fit the schemes you want to run, you have to build around what he wants to build either through the draft or via FA.
3. Like the first NFL head coach, during the draft you are IN THE WAR ROOM but you, not the head coach are making the calls on who to draft.
you scout players like head coach 09 except it will be more in depth, and you can create YOUR OWN DRAFT BOARD, along with subboards labeling your sleepers and so forth.
4. trade logic will be realistic and fair. however, it could implement the first head coach in which GMs that had a good history with you are more willing to give up leverage in trades.
5. not only will their be free agency bidding, but head coach bidding too.
6. the actual gameplay aspect will be text-based with visual highlight replays of touchdowns. Sort of like head coach 09 super sim except on touchdowns their will be visual replays.
Not only that, but you cant control the plays or anything of that sort. you can only watch as your HEAD COACH YOU HIRED will be calling the shots. you're only the gm.Comment

A niche niche market! lol. hmm so, start a career as a player...(playing the "User control" game) retire that player, become a Head Coach (playing the "Head Coach" game), retire as a coach and become GM (playing your "GM" game) I'm sold!! Although I would try and be Holmgren/Parcels and buy the groceries as well as cook the dinnerComment

Re: Can we make our own game?
I don't think being a GM without calling plays would be interesting. Just watching and doing nothing sounds boring to me. I once tried a video baseball game where you didn't hit or pitch and I fell asleep. I like the concept of HC 09.Comment
