So graphics, available platforms, and branding aren't important?

Knock Madden all you want, but all of the above make it profitable and popular. In addition to making a fun game people will buy every year (or I certainly wouldn't).

        LOL! That's messed up.

Yeah, they made some odd choices, but with a second chance I'm sure they would've gotten on track.

Prove it isn't. Digital revenues are way up, the game is selling well. EA is revising projections upward, beating profit forecasts, etc. This fallacy is long dead and buried. If it wasn't profitable it would be gone. There's no warning or indication that Madden is anything other than profitable.

Mestevo is correct they are making money hand over fist with ultimate team, that stuff is damn near pure profit. Not my cup of tea but great for people who like it.

The thing that baffles me & proves madden creates sheep is that this "ultimate team" is a blatant rip off of APF 2K8! Gold, silver & bronze tiers players being created from great legends to help you build your dream team....huh..original. Yet, when 2K did it nobody thought it will fall thru. Here comes EA....Jesus.

In the event you aren't banned for trolling, how specifically does that create sheep? And have you seen more than a screenshot of ultimate team, because what you described is not it?

You seem to really need to bucket people... from sheep to complacent. Why, and what bucket do you fall into?

I'm just the guy who wishes he can play another football game other than madden. I don't mean to troll, some days it's just fraustrating to see the game you prefered be down played and belittled by a title that didn't even try to compete. If the roles were reversed and 2K bought out football & all those who loved madden would cry out, just as ppl like me have for the past decade. I tried, tried & tried again with Madden. Can't do it, can't get into it, so these post I put up are all in a futile effort to challenge the status quo. At the same time, I want a guy like me in the other football category to know that they aren't alone. Come to think of it, I see you come on here and bash guys and dash dreams of ppl looking for hope in some other title other than EA. Why lurk here when your preferred franchise is in it's own category. Do you find amusement in those who will not conform? Either way I don't care, just a pissed off football gamer whose praying for a change.

Just a very active poster who prefers to deal in facts when at all possible and try and remove emotion from the debates. This actually gets me in more 'trouble' in the NFL forum than in the gaming ones . Hope is completely OK with me, in context. Has nothing to do with shooting people down, but rather giving them an opportunity to qualify their expectations (that they posted for us to respond to) with evidence or facts that support their beliefs.

I'm a consumer, I've bought all of these games too, I wish more opted to compete in the space but it's obviously not a smart move for the most part.

I'm not lurking, I'm actively posting on a very active site, and if I were so dead set on rebutting every hopeful person I'd have a lot more posts in this thread. This has never really been one for discussion until you asked your question and declared everyone with an opinion different than yours 'sheep' and someone suggested nobody would like a competing game because of branding, 'doesn't look as hot', or not on PS4 - all things that are pretty important if a game is to be successful on it's own, let alone vs entrenched competition.

There's a ton of room for valid and considerable frustration, I'm not sure why it comes down to tearing down people rather than hoping for a product that deserves their money. I'd buy it if it has the basics like a franchise mode, just like I have past competing titles.

The time is right for All-Pro Football game that includes franchise mode and real coaches.. I love to play with the likes of Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper, Seau, Mark Burnell, Jimmy Smith, Shockley, Portis and others.. 2k could easily make this game more interesting by getting rights of defunct leagues i.e. UFL, XFL and United States Football League.. This would allow the gamer have more options when it comes to choosing players for their team..

I have to say I agree Mestevo & your points are very valid. I too have seen both worlds and its not like I want madden to die, I just want this exclusivity to die. I used to own all the sports game (football) fever, gameday, 2K, NCAA or madden depending on how I felt (usual choose NCAA with EA just felt that was a better fit). Then one day boom, all the choices disappeared and the market pretty much told us take it or leave it. Hard for me to accept that, however, I do have Madden 15 and I play it every so often. I just want that variety back so I could look forward to gaming again, so every now & then yeah I'm going to voice my opinion may not be accurate all the time but all I could do. I have to admit with your explanantion I got a whole new level of respect for you mane. Sounds like we both want the same thing, your just not going to entertain bullshyte. Respect

I can't see it. The first problem is that EA has so many legends locked up under contract now that it would be impossible for 2K to get any headway. The second problem is that getting licenses from multiple leagues is multiple licensing nightmares on their own.

APF showed the industry that such a game is an expensive endeavor with a low return. APF was a flop for 2K; they made practically nothing on the game because of all the licensing costs. No company is going down that avenue again, and I don't blame them.

If a game is going to be non-NFL, they have to do it without being bogged down with tons of licensing. All their needs to be is heavy customization anyway, and the licenses become irrelevant.

The game also can't be tame and clinical like APF was. If anyone does that, the game is finished before it's released. It can be sim, but it still needs to be dirty to get attention.

Facemask is right & the NFLPA doesn't seem to want to break the deal with EA since MUT is making money. However, I think you have something. Give us all the customization options (keep your gold, silver, bronze let us choose their abilities but make it like the Hex options for XBox 360 but a whole lot tamer) make sure the gameplay is top notch & still sim. However, give us a story mode similar to Blitz the league series with even darker tones to it. Like a GTA style MyPlayer, going to strip clubs, doing drugs lol things like that or you can pick to be squeky clean and avoid the seediness of fame. It has been awhile since we seen an alternative, I think players will be more receptive to this kind of thing if the gameplay is tight and we still have some traditional options such as franchise, drafts etc.

I believe getting the licenses of those defunct football leagues would be dirt cheap.. Since these leagues haven't played down of football since 2012.. The USFL, UFL and XFL have no contract with National Football League nor NFLPA whatsoever...
