Re: Sign If You Want A Highly Customizable 2K Next-Gen Game
You'd think this thread would have countless pages. Reminds me of the times when people would cry for 2K to come back, but when asked to sign a petition, they turn into Casper. Not sure if I signed, but, #Signed.Comment

Re: Sign If You Want A Highly Customizable 2K Next-Gen Game
I've signed petitions like this many times but 2K, EA Sports and the NFL are very aware by now that we want another 2K NFL game, so what is the point of more petitions? Signing petitions is no longer relevant, they already know. The only way to change is to stop talking with your mouths and start talking with your wallets. As in, Boycott EA. If you don't like Madden, don't buy.
The problem is of course that in some ways (visually in still freeze frame screenshot mode) Madden is today an acceptable (some would say, barely acceptable) NFL simulation that does "just enough" to keep people buying it. Personally, I made the decision to stop buying Madden for the simple reason to send the NFL the message it's time for change. Even if Madden 15 turns out to be the greatest NFL simulation of all time (rather than the usual mish-mash arcade game for casuals), I won't be buying from EA Sports again until their monopoly on NFL videogaming ends. It's up to the rest of you to step up like myself and many others are doing and be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. Continually funding EA is clearly part of the problem. It's up to you. Personally I want to see another SONY NFL game similar to what they did with MLB The Show and NFL GameDay. It doesn't just have to be 2K, I would rather see many different dev studios working on a whole load of fresh new NFL titles all competing with each other, keeping the sport fresh unlike stale old Madden year after year. What do you think?Comment

Hell yeah I do! Make it semi-pro, and highly contrast skill levels. Record animations of abysmally uncoordinated players to recreate what you see out of home town boys. Small venues, small crowds. Old timers still trying to lace em up. Off field drama including players showing up hung over, ripping butts at half time, players showing up late after getting PCd the night before. Awful refs, overprotective parents, players quitting a team and joining another midseason. Thats what im trying to play.Comment

Re: Sign If You Want A Highly Customizable 2K Next-Gen Game
Great post. I'm totally with you. I haven't purchased Madden since 2010. I'm all for putting my money where my mouth is and showing EA we don't support their lackluster yearly releases. We need some fresh air when it comes to football and the only way to get that through to the makers is to cease purchasing and drop sales. Hitting them in the wallet is what hurts and ultimately opens their eyes.
Let us compare Madden to watching the real NFL games on TV... over the course of a season you get different broadcasts from CBS, FOX, NBC, BBC, Channel 4 etc. Different commentators, different cameras, different presentation, different experience. When it's just Madden videogames, well.. it's the same thing all year. I mean, can you imagine how boring, stale (and annoying) watching football broadcasts on TV would be if it was just Phil Simms and Jim Nantz commentating on every single game? There are probably better reasons than this simple thing, but it's just one of many reasons why we need more choices. The NFL are just shooting themselves in the foot.
When the NFL exclusive license is abolished and goes back to being open and not copyrighted and owned by EA anymore, then and only then we'll start considering buying Madden again along with the other fresh new NFL videogames, same as it was 10 years ago. Or don't, and we'll continue the EA boycott as long as it takes. And the NFL will continue to lose audience figures every year it continues along with losing good faith in the loyal fans they used to have. Simple.Comment

Re: Sign If You Want A Highly Customizable 2K Next-Gen Game
I haven't bought Madden since 2002 but am hopeful this years game is solid. Really wanted a demo. If not, it's back to 2k8. Again!! I really get enthusiastic for a month or so. I'd love an actual NFL game but I can see myself possibly playing a generic game that plays great & can be customized.Comment

Re: Sign If You Want A Highly Customizable 2K Next-Gen Game
Just played my first online game of APF in about 2 years. Used Destro's NY Giants roster and played a buddy. You realize right away how bad Madden is, and how far it needs to go to even come close to this game. It actually just made me depressed because of how unbelievably good the game really is.Comment
