I don't think knowing who the developer is would have anything to do with it. If this was an NFL game they would probably be screaming that from the rooftops. They wouldn't post a screen with generic players, uniforms, and a generic stadium. I think you're letting your want of an NFL game cloud your judgement.

Anything to save me from the mediocrity of yet another Madden yearly release. I am hoping for the best with this game.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: First In-Game Screenshot?
I'm excited. Never felt like this was going to be a NFL game and that screenshot is pretty clear that this game will be out on consoles.
Don't care if the game is generic, past NFL legends, or some type of future league....
JUST GIVE ME A SIM GAME OF FOOTBALL!!!Comment

I recommend everybody to assume the game is a NON-NFL licensed game for the meantime. Your hopes won't be shattered if it's not an nfl game plus, if it is an nfl game you'll be getting a sports car for Christmas when really you just wanted a new bike!Comment

I don't care for official teams too much. That's what the NFL network is for I get my Ravens fix off of that. If this game gives me the ability to build my teams from skills to playbooks the uniforms I select and the names on the backs don't matter. Just let me build my team the exact way I want to build it.Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: First In-Game Screenshot?
Does anyone remember Joe Montana's sport talk football 1 and 2 on Sega genesis? The second game especially was a very good football game, i hope its a mix of the old school Joe Montana's sport talk football 2 and nfl2k5, with a franchise mode and realistic penalties, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeComment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: First In-Game Screenshot?
I think people, in general, are hungry for a new football game. When news broke of another possible football title, it made the front page of reddit in less than an hour.
The game's best route to success would be to create a viable alternative in terms of gameplay to Madden. Build off of a small but consistent group of buyers (as NBA 2K did back in the day) and let the product speak for itself. Sooner or later, when your game starts popping up with solid reviews all over the place, you will create a name for yourself.
As a consumer, this is a win pretty much no matter how you look at it. We needed competition, and maybe this will provide it.I have held back much of my thoughts on this game simply because, as I posted earlier in the other thread, there just isn't enough information to make any clear decree on what this is or isn't. The entire time I have felt this game would be a generic sim football game for consoles.
I love the NFL and have been a maniacal fan for 35 years, but at this point in football gaming, I don't need the NFL. I'm an online franchise only type of guy, and as long as I have an immersive, engrossing, deep experience in online franchise including the team building aspects and super realistic gameplay, I couldn't be happier. I am not interested in back and forth about whether or not this game needs to trump madden or whatever. I don't care about that. Some people like a game like madden, some people prefer something else. As far as I am concerned, having choices in ANY game genre is the best thing for both consumers and developers. Competition brings out the best in all of us, and despite what some short sighted NFL and EA executives may believe, it will bring out the best in Madden as well.
Not much can really be taken from just a screen shot, but I love what I see so far. It looks good to me, and I am excited about seeing more (mainly a video of the game in motion). I don't think we should have a negative outlook on this at all, just for the simple fact we are all starving for another football option. Remember, no one says you have to have some sort of "allegiance" to just one football game. Remember when we had choice and we had 4 or 5 excellent football games? Many folks owned them all!
Anyway, here's to hoping more info on this drops soon and we get a clearer picture of what JMF 16 is all about. I am very excited about the passion that Damon has shown and the effort he and his team seem to be putting into it. Hopefully in a few months, we have an awesome football game as an alternative!Comment

Re: Joe Montana Football 16: First In-Game Screenshot?
I disagree. Look at this actual NFL photo;
Doesn't look all that dissimilar in terms of size differential to me. Look again at the screen shot of JM16 and look more closely at #60, he definitely appears larger, as does the guy he is blocking, especially the calf muscles and arms - the distance from the point of view also has some impact, or it should if they are doing their job well...Last edited by Trick13; 03-17-2015, 05:06 AM.Comment
